Hearing her outburst, he smiled devilishly at the notion of revealing himself. But Kaan was shrewd, cunning and arrogant. He threw his voice to confuse her. "Hey yourself," he said in a deep husk voice, "you don't look like a native. Let me guess, shipwrecked or here on purpose...like me?"

At first the vixen was startled, she was expecting to hear some bestial yowl instead a sentient response, fluent Lylatian too, so this wasn't some pre-modern tribal speaking either. Though, just because they understood each other, didn't immediately mean friendly, so Shepherd quietly re-positioned herself closer to a nearby tree. It'd be best to verify behind some form of safety.

"The former, actually." Shepherd finally answered evenly, before noisily ejecting her weapon's clip, hoping that would coerce the person out of hiding.

"So, you're 'here on purpose'," The vixen echoed the voice, "deepthroat", she temporarily dubbed it. "Does that mean you're search and rescue?"

-( Kaan)

"In a manner of speaking, yes and no. Yes I'm here to look for someone but without a means to get off this planet it's essentially a one-way trip. So think of it as a right of passage for a warrior and I am not soldier."  Stealthily he dove behind another tree and located a suitable tree branch of which to make a spear, ripping from the main trunk before carving a fine with a knife.

"The manner of your travel suggests you are being followed and since you were not aware of me until now, I assume your pursuer is close behind. Do yourself a favor and shed the tech. In a place like this technology is an Achilles Heel. Sooner or later you'll have to revert to basic primal instinct."

- (Muryin)

When she had finished with Amai's bandage, Muryin helped herself to some food. She didn't eat as much as the others, she was selfless that way to conserve for them. Her gaze returned to Amai. "Amai, how old are you?"

"Primal instinct, huh?" She muttered incredulously, what good would stripping down and going Tarzan do her? Even if she were to concede how vulnerable she'd be without her gadgets... something told her a trial-by-fire would only prove fatal. "While I appreciate the advice, I somehow doubt that shedding my tech would help anyone but the killer robot looking use my hide as a tacky blue rug."

Shepherd finished with a shake of her head, the snapping of wood earlier made her a little nervous as to his activities. While it might be too early to pass judgement, her first impressions of Mr. Deepthroat were less than stellar, frankly he seemed like a one of those survivalist who were just a bit too enthusiastic. "Still, your deductive skills seem praise worthy."

"Anyway, you said you're searching for someone? You think you could do with an extra pair of eyes?" The vixen, hoped he wouldn't take that literally.

"Fifteen" The leopard said, glancing down at her bandage.  She was aware she was probably the youngest person there, but she didn't want that to change the way any of them looked at her.  She wasn't some frightened little kid despite being a minor.  She took a small amount of food, not being quite hungry, herself, and began to eat slowly.

Nice to meet you, Miss Macrine! Just call me Andrej, if you don't mind.” Andrej smiled again. “So young and already travelling through the universe? That's really impressive!”
He then looked behind him at the cockpit. Maybe they lacked the resources to repair it, but the transmitter? Why not with the materials from the lorry in the swamps? That could be their ticket to get finally home!

Andrej turned back to the small bear and asked, “Look, could you get Muryin for me, please? I'll try to find out if we can repair the transmitter to send an emergency signal and if it doesn't work, I have a plan B.” Then he added, “And apart from that, I like to thank you for stopping my outburst, reminding me of the children I have to care for.”

Loran smiled a bit, maybe a bit too much at the mention of her youth, but she didn't take it to heart, it went over her head. She rose up from her seat and gave a joke salute, turning away to follow the order Andrej had given, heading to the place where she had seen Muryin last.

"Will do, Andrej! One Muryin coming on up!"

Kaan listened to her offer and rationalized it in his head. He wondered that doing so would make things easier and cut his search time in half. "One question, are you Homosapien?"

-(Muryin)

"Really," she asked in surprise, "we are old enough to be sisters, you and I. I am 17." She turned to find Loran shouting her name and smiled. "Yes?"

"Andrej wanted ya for something, it seems! Think he found an idea on fixing the transmitter for a distress signal!" Loran gave a happy smile as she said that, hoping that it would indeed work.

As she had done her duty for Andrej, she turned to Amai, unsure of what to say, however. She simply took a seat on the grass and pondered her own plans, wondering if her own group had noticed her absence already...Although she had high morale anyway, she wasn't alone in the slightest, looking around at her new friends.

She eyes a small ship in the distance, growing more noticeable that the ship is functioning the same way hers had done...in the fact that it was not functional at all...

--

A ship barrels down in the sky in the late evening, and even as the landing gear had been deployed, it served only as a fulcrum on the surface for it to spin over on the rough grass and land into a small and shallow lake. The small lake acted like a slight cushion for it's pilot to kick out the cockpit's window, and hop out with only his head bleeding mildly. The pilot looked into the singular cabin and eyed two weapons, the first of which was a shotgun. The second weapon had been a crossbow, but instead was overly shattered in the crash roll and thus left behind. An emergency supply was also present in its bag, and as the unknown pilot grabbed the bag and shotgun.

As he counted his shells and rummaged the bag, he predicted his supply of rations and ammo, two days worth of food, while fewer shells. He had decided to find a cliff side to judge his surroundings, but not before taking a few seconds to check the cabin for a working transmitter. As it stood, the pilot's head served as a useful tool to destroy it, explaining the blood both on it and his forehead.

As he left, he kicked the cabin a final time in a rage, leaving an incredible dent, right in the insignia for one of the landing craft belonging to the United Hunters...

Muryin left the two and went to where Andrej was. Her uniform jacket was off her shoulders and tied about her waste. She entered the downed shuttle where she had met Andrej a few moments before. "Yes Mr. Andrej?"

After the bear left, Andrej turned his attention to the consoles. He wasn't a talented mechanic, but changing a few cables shouldn't be impossible. And as long as there were crashed ships to cannibalize, they likely won't run out of spare parts. Although he hoped that the computer at the lorry worked too, since he still had to send a signal to his own comrades.

Shortly after, Muryin entered the shuttle and the soldier turned around. “Excellent, you are here!” He then pointed to the consoles and continued further, “Back when I tried to send an emergency signal, the artificial intelligence told me that the transmitter has been damaged. Since 'damaged' doesn't mean that it's irreparably destroyed, I'm sure that we can repair it. Could you please check for me what exactly needs to be repaired? If it doesn't work, I have a plan B, but that would require travelling and I don't want to do it during the night.”

"Alright," she said, pressing a few buttons on the console and ran a diagnostic on the ships systems. A hologram image booted up in a representation of the ship. Muryin pointed to the blinking red section of the hologram. "See that? It is the communication antenna. That is why we cannot send or receive." Muryin then turned her eyes to the sensor station and activated it. "I just want to see something." She widened the setting for long range and scanned the atmosphere and beyond 90,000 kilometers. She let out a sigh of disappointment. "I was afraid of that. That ship that followed me here is still out there, parking orbit around the second moon..."

Only the antenna? That really shouldn't be a problem, then.” But upon hearing of the other ship, he pricked up his ears. Maybe his friends really came back to save him?

Can you identify it?”, he asked.

"I remember on its hull were the words Pillaging Arms. Do not know if that is the name of a ship or a pirating guild. One thing is certain, they did not give my friends a chance..."

She switched off the viewer and accidentally activated the audio log for the event. Screams, shouting, gunfire and explosions along with garbled paniced voices.

'theyre not giving us any quarter!! Luther Saint John, what are our orders!!!??! Luth-!!!' *transmission ends*

"Am I human?" Shepherd frowned in confusion, for a man who had figured out she was on the run, he was strangely unobservant. Instead of pointing that out, or making a quip, the cerinaian merely shook her head. "Um... not quite."

"I ask because it's a human trick to use camouflage tech. Humans are not trustworthy." He said his words with hatred and disregard. Kaan's anger towards them was deep rooted. "I killed several on my way here...fools and their guns,” said with a smile in his voice.

That definitely weren't Andrej's friends. Of course the kapitan sent his troops occasionally on raids for merchant ships, but the captured vessels were exclusively used for transportations between planets and bases, as he had specialised ships for cases like rescue operations. And if it was a whole group of these foreign pirates, then the survivors would stand no chance with their low numbers and equipment.

Then maybe it's about time that I get to the swamp, while you try to build up defences”, Andrej suggested. “Unless you have found a better position, of course. If it is so dangerous, then I'll set off immediately. But I could use a good fighter, because my I can't aim to save my life.”

"I will leave that to your discretion Mr. Andrej." She smiled, she felt safe with Andrej who seemed like a nice man. The man he had reminded her of was an instructor at the academy, who was a seasoned officer and good friend of her foster mother on the colonial core world. All that occupied her thoughts now was getting these three home even at the expense of her own life.

Suddenly the scanner beeped, Muryin then rushed to it and adjusted to focus on more clearly. "I'm reading two humanoid lifesigns South of here."

Amai's ears perked at the mention of two others.  She let out a soft gasp as she looked at Muryin, standing up gingerly.  "Two others?" She asked quietly.  Hopefully they wouldn't shoot at them.

"That so?" Shepherd asked despite not really wanting elaboration, "Well, thank heavens I'm not human then."

Hoping to steer the conversation in a direction less... indicative of underlying psychopathic tendencies, she brought it back to the earlier proposed partnership.

"So, did I pass your 'survival buddies' questionnaire?" The vixen humor came out somewhat forced,  "I mean, the offer isn't even conditional on my part, safety in numbers, right?"

"Agreed," kaan said after removing himself from the tree. He resembled a human but something was obviously off about his appearance, his red eyes and short white hair and multitude of deep scars on his face, arms and chest. There was an unsettling look in his eye, an augur of madness on his face and demented smile. A cruel inhuman sword was strapped to his back and carried a long spear that he must have made moments before. He walked toward her, his eyes unblinking. "Let's go," he said in a calm voice.

Muryin turned to Amai reassuringly, "do not worry, you will be safe." Her gaze returned to Andrej. "When do we leave, sir?"

Brooding about his next steps, he decided to try to reach the lorry alone. He deemed Macrine as too young to fight and Muryin was their only medic, so it was important that she stayed with the others. While Andrej was a bad fighter, he possessed the best armament and protection, so he could operate independently.
But her information about the two new signs of life worried the officer. Muryin had, if he concluded correctly, only a pistol and the Macrine was unarmed. Should they stay here, they will be an easy prey for monsters and hunters, but Andrej alone while travelling won't attract much attention.

That would leave only one option...

Okay, I will go immediately and hopefully return with weapons, supplies and the means to send an emergency signal. If you stay here, then I want you to take my rifle and cutlass to properly defend yourself.”

"But Mr. Andrej, you need to defend yourself. Atleast take something." There was genuine worry in her eyes. She knew it was dangerous and shuttered to think what other horrors awaited on this forsaken world. She continued to urge him not to leave his weapons and come back safely.

"Right, let's." She said, a hint of quiet apprehension in her voice as she waited for the humanoid to pass, before following after him. While they walked, Shepherd silently examined the fellow, her mind coming up with questions, but her voice failed to voice them. Until finally, she decided to start simple.

"I'm Shepherd, by the way." The vixen stated, hoping the creature would get the hint.

Oh, don't worry”, he said, while taking off his rifle and cutlass, “I still got this little thing here.” He reached into his coat and pulled a black, modified Makarow out. “Ten millimetres, should be enough for raiders and monsters, if aimed right.” Andrej chuckled. “Everyone of you is a better combatant than me, I can assure you that.” Then he proceeded to hand out his magazines for the AKM and explained, “It's heavier than your usual assault rifle, though. But this primitive, brutal gun will be of great help in fights against primitive, brutal enemies. At least it saved me a lot.”
