Dr. Orange
This is the big announcement of plans for StarFox-Online coming this Summer. on CBS We're bringing back some old projects and making some edits that'll hopefully make the site feel a little easier to use. This thread will also be designated as an opinion thread and recommendation thread. I really want to hear any ideas on how we can make SFO better for everyone. The Current plans are as followed: ================================================================================================ SFO-Cast - SFO Cast was the podcast we had back when Skype was actually used. I've heard expressed interest for its return and will be set up for a test run coming this summer. Gamenights - We have the Minecraft server and we also have a Team Fortress 2 server at request. One of the most lively activities we had on SFO was the game nights. We're going to be bringing these back into the fold and expect announcements for events on the Steam Group (http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Starfox-Online) as well as the Discord (https://discord.gg/cDJqJNq). Turning the Chatbox into the Shoutbox again - For those of you who may remember, before we had the Chatroom in all it's glory, we had the shoutbox. It was combined to the main forum page and was a box at the top of the page. Unlike the chat, you didn't have to open a whole tab for it. This is being done for simplicity sake. Done. Restarting on the Content Tracker - Project Krazoa God is still in the works. Granted it's gone quiet but hopefully this summer, if everyone pitches in, we can bang this out. Walkthroughs - Along side with the PKG, there will be a new area for Walkthroughs of the Starfox Games. If you would be interested in writing or would like to make a video walkthorugh please contact myself or one of the site staff. Categorizing the Files - This isn't a huge one. It's just fixing and organizing the files of the site, self-explanatory. Honestly I just need a couple users who can lend a hand for a bit to get this out of the way. Repairing the Jukebox - Self explanatory ================================================================================================ This cannot be done alone. We are the last standing shrine to Starfox Culture on the internet that actually has an active user base. We've stood together through the good times and the bad. It's time to rally under a single Arwing Fleet and make a stand to allow Starfox-Online be best it can be! 7 Link to comment
InfinitySquared
Here's what I plan to bring to the table, in no particular order: -Scans: I've got a fair-sized collection of SF memorabilia that I'm willing to scan in and share, namely --original box for Star Fox 64, complete with manual and assorted papers, all in pretty good condition for their age (some creasing here and there, but no tears or fading) --official Nintendo Player's Guide for SF64, Assault, and possibly Adventures?, ranging from near-mint, pretty good, and OK respectively. --my brother might possibly still have his old NP mag's from the early '90s with the Itoh comics packed away somewhere. I'll have to check with him. -Music: Trying to obtain and/or rip the best-quality copies of the soundtracks from each of the games, preferably in 320kbs MP3 or FLAC if we can spare the space. Preferably ripping straight from the in-game files, but literally recording from the console into Audacity will probably work well in a pinch. SF64 has an official, but very obscure, official album release, 643D has the sound-test, and I'm pretty sure for the GC/Wii U titles, it'll be as easy as going into the game files and ripping them right out. The only real challenges will be the SNES games, since there's no sound-test, requiring one to play the raw music files using the SNES sound font. Pretty sure there's a way to do it, but I'm too tired to look it up rn. --also, working on getting more sheet music up. There's plenty of SF sheet music floating around online, but a lot of it's really genuinely unplayable or just really....wonky and kinda amusical. I have some written down for keys, but I'd definitely be interested in getting some transcriptions up for other instruments, namely guitar or violin or hell anything really. --featuring covers/remixes would be a good. Again, I can get the ball rolling with some piano/organ covers I've done over the years, tying back into the sheet music stuff. I'd be primarily interested in covers/remixes from SF-O members, but to get the ball rolling I'll gladly feature whatever good remixes come on SoundCloud (inb4 20,000 dubstep remixes of the Corneria theme from 2012). --MIDI's anyone? -The Wiki: I'd also like to start cleaning up the Wiki. This'll mostly be combing through articles for errors and inconsistencies, getting rid of insignificant/irrelevant articles, keeping things organized, etc etc. Help will definitely be needed when I decide to get on it. Also, SFOcast's got' b lit. 2 Link to comment

The VGM Lover
I'm unsure where I'm gonna be in the next few months, so for now, I'll continue contributing as an active member of the site until things finally get settled. As for suggestions, many of the selection boxes, especially from the pop-up menus, are colored oddly bright. Also, I hope to see the search function improved in how to get results. Sometimes, I feel like I have to write my topic's entire title just to get at least one result. Pretty weird. Finally, I would love to finally be able to post my own photos without being limited by the size limit. I've got a whole lot more than just dancing Mii Characters in my USBs, you know! Arashikage
Image hosting is the way to go when you want to post your own photos. The site isn't designed to be an image board which is why the file limit is there. We only have so much space on the forum and posts take up less space with an essay than with a single photo. I'd recommend uploading them to something like imgur first and pasting a link. The forum will recognize the link as an image and embed it directly. 1 Link to comment
Robert Monroe
A LORE COMPENDIUM would be great. We have someone who can translate MoonRunes, and I have resources of Japanese material that hides a LOT of tidbits and funny shit. The 64 japanese manuals and guidebooks are full of stuff, as are the old websites. I've made some blog posts about this on my Pigma Dengar RP tumblr (selfish-swine.tumblr.com), but I will gladly move it over to here. Starfox Wiki is a mess and a train wreck, we need to step up for it. Also an archive of the comics and guides, scans scans SCANS. With Database being older than dinosaurs and Arwing Landing kill, there's no Starfox fansite hosting the old comics anymore. Maybe we can even do a re-write of Farewell Falco to be 200% less Engrishy. Actually, @MKGirlism hit me up about handling that. 2 Link to comment

And tip in general. If you double click your image a popup will give you the ability to change the size in pixels. This helps out a bunch when Imgur like resized an image to 5x. Link to comment

Robert Monroe
Both but moreover retranslating/localizing Farewell Beloved Falco. I have the comic downloaded and was just going to retype all the dialogue to feel more natural but yeah. Link to comment
MKGirlism
(^ω^) I see. I found the comic on Nintendo's website now as well, though I won't be available on Discord until this evening, because work. Link to comment
Clearwater
If we're bringing back SFOCast, sign me the frick up. We never got the final episode (Seeing Double) done because some of our actors went AWOL, plus DZ was busy with IRL stuff. I've been learning me some audio editing in FL Studio and Audacity and other stuff, so if you need a hand with anything, feel free to give me a holler. ^^ 1 Link to comment
InfinitySquared
For SFOCast, I was thinking of having a series of monthly retrospectives on the games. Basically sort of a roundtable discussion talking about the game, what it did for the series, it's strengths and weaknesses, etc. Granted, we only have so much to work with, but it'll be a good start. As for stuff in the vein of the old SFOCast Theatre, I'm down for having dramatic readings of whatever godawful Star Fox fanfic we can dredge up. That should be a never-ending source of entertainment. Haven't really thought anything through yet, but I do have a few stipulations. You gotta have a good mic and internet connection, or else it might be hard for others to hear you and vice versa. Be polite and courteous in conversation, and follow general social tact and whatnot. Frankly, nobody wants to hear one person just keep talking over everyone else, or getting butthurt because they happen to have differing opinions on a subject. Remember, it's just a video game. Also, having good chemistry with other hosts is definitely paramount to making these podcasts actually enjoyable to participate in and listen to. To be honest, I haven't really thought all of this through, but once I get finished up with school stuff, I'll try to get this up and running for the summer. 1 Link to comment

Owner/Technical Admin Sideways Posted April 27, 2017 Owner/Technical Admin Share Posted April 27, 2017 That's basically what I and a few friends had used for a weekly show we called the Decepticast. See, there are a couple of us who run Transformers pages on FB. We would get together weekly on Hangouts and basically talk about a few topics and get opinions. Worked out very well, I could see us doing something similar here. Link to comment
