Sol-Ratcht Saporro
Seriously, who here has had an incident where the strap broke off the wiimote and it flew off unexpectantly? I haven't had one yet but, today Nintendo decided to replace the straps of the old wii motes for newer thicker ones. This was quite the amuzement because two of my local newstations did a broadcast about it. It says in order for you to get the other strap you would have to go to a "local Nintendo service center". Why don't they just say store....? >.>; Well, here's one of the stations: http://cbs4.com/topstories/local_story_349125940.html Although, I might take them up on that offer because of Wario Ware SM...... Horray for Fatter straps!
Taco-Man
When you see a site dedicated to people flinging their Wii remotes at tvs, walls, and windows, you know something needs to change. This is a good idea to do it before more people have Wiis. I don't want to see my friends breaking my stuff because they can't keep a hold of it. I might take the offer if the new controllers I get for Christmas are the old ones, but I don't think I'll break anything. My local news did a report on it too. At least Nintendo is making this known.

Ludvig11
So you cant change the strap? its allways plugged-in the controller? why else couldn't they just sell straps to replace with the older ones?..

Conall Drest
YAY!!!! Thats one reason I never get gaming consoles at launch anyway. I usually get them when they are 99 bucks and most of the bugs are fixed. One exception is the PS2 which I got in 2003 and its an older model; miracle it has not broken yet as it has fallen 2 feet from the shelf and I dropped it one time as well. Jaith
augh, seriously sometimes I think humanity can't get any stupider and then I hear about people breaking there TVs with Wiimotes again! GUESS WHAT! I don't even USE my wrist strap, Why? Because I don't need it, I keep a frim hold on my controlers and don't try to exceed the sound barrier with SWINGING IT LIKE A MADMAN! X_X; *Heavy breathing* e_e you don't NEED to swing the controler with enough force that it could fly out of you hands this is what people need to learn, instead of bitching that the wirst straps are 'too weak' and can't handle the extreme tension IDIOTS put on them by letting go of them mid swing... *twitch*...*twitch* *Slow exhail* Ok I'm done ranting on humanity's stupidity, sorry if I offended any readers with this... Also the fact that you're arguing with what is actually happening well... This isn't something that might be happening, this isn't something that could be happening, this is something that is happening!
Steve
I don't even use the freaking strap. I guess, or people are just high, drunk or really hyper when they break the straps
Jaith
Yeah... if your drinking with friends and playing boxing on wii sports chances are a real fight will break out. Though, nintendo COULD have made the controler with a grip I guess to make it harder to lose a hold of...I just don't like people blaming nintendo for the weak wrist straps when it's their own damn fault for breaking their TV or breaking their lamp... or hitting the ceiling fan or WHATEVER... my view on it... once it's in your hands it's your responciblity... >_>; Though I did almost hit a friend while playing Wii Baseball... but it was probably subconsiously intentional... since he wouldn't stop throwing those damn splitters at me ><
Taco-Man
Still, if they're accidentally letting go, isn't the strap supposed to help the Wii remote not destroy something? Otherwise it wouldn't be there at all. Actually, there were cases where the people were drunk when they were playing.
Scott_Wolf
... or hitting the ceiling fan or WHATEVER... Ceiling fan?! HA! I actually haven't heard of anyone doing anything stupid with the controller yet...but meh. Better safe than sorry. I honestly can't remember the last time I attempted to throw a controller at anything...
Ludvig11
but one kinda strange thing... I've seen plenty of Sony-prodcuts that has got damaged from a Wii-mote....
ONE_HELLCAT
but one kinda strange thing... I've seen plenty of Sony-prodcuts that has got damaged from a Wii-mote.... Nintendo's plan to destroy Sony. As for those of you arguing that you don't need the strap and blah blah blah. Well, I'm not clumsy. I don't drop things easily or anything. But when your hands get as sweaty as mine and you're playing Wii Tennis, you're going to want that strap. Now it didn't go flying out of my hand or anything, but came pretty close to. Sol-Ratcht Saporro
I leave for a couple of days and already at the second page.....Wow.... augh, seriously sometimes I think humanity can't get any stupider and then I hear about people breaking there TVs with Wiimotes again! GUESS WHAT! I don't even USE my wrist strap, Why? Because I don't need it, I keep a frim hold on my controlers and don't try to exceed the sound barrier with SWINGING IT LIKE A MADMAN! THANK YOU! And like Steve9, I don't even use the strap. It doesn't matter how hard you swing the WiiMote, it just matters that you can actually perform the action. I just find the stories on these Wii damaged things atrocious and easily preventable. *shakes her head*

Inuyasha
It's good that they're replacing them, but, seriously, the only people I've ever heard of experiencing it were either throwing a tantrum or being idiotic. Either way, though, the fact is it breaks, so it's good to fix it. -Inuyasha
