CrypticQuery
'Tis the season, and with Christmas drawing ever closer I figured I'd pose a question. Are there any films that you ensure you watch again during the holidays? Have any in particular formed lasting traditions that demand repeat viewings around Christmas time? For me, Die Hard fits the bill. The long winded debate over whether or not it's a Christmas movie (it definitely is) aside, no Christmas is complete without another vieing of the film. Not to mention the hilarious 'Twas the Night Before Christmas companion book, of course. There's something about the juxtaposition of holiday cheer against dire circumstances that makes being thankful about partaking in festivities that much easier. (A relevant image can be found in the hidden tag below, but if you haven't seen the movie yet it spoils the ending.)
valkiriforce
A Christmas Story, How The Grinch Stole Christmas (cartoon/live-action), Jingle All The Way, Home Alone 1& 2, Elf, It's A Wonderful Life, Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas...there's plenty of good stuff out there but these are the essentials in this house. UAZ-469
The christmas carol with the muppets, ya landlubbers! How could you forget that! D:
valkiriforce
Actually that's my favorite one - it was so painfully obvious I'm surprised I left it out of my list. Maybe I had a grand statement prepared for it and I was too excited to share it.
Tiger Carson
We haven't watched any Christmas movies or specials this year, but if we had access to it, we'd definitely see the already mentioned ones, the actual Nightmare Before Christmas film, the very first black and white version of A Christmas Carol, the Jim Carrie(SP?) version Disney made near the beginning of this decade, and maybe a few specials of cartoon and family shows from over the years, as well as the Rankin and Bass stop motion and traditionally animated films. As a side note, not actually movie related, I used to watch those cornball Christmas commercials around this time of year. They have their own little charm you know, like the Hershey's Kisses doing the bell ringing of "We wish you a Merry Christmas." As well as that old Campbells soup commercial that Doug Walker, The Nostalgia Critic, had some funny comments for. Ahhhh, the memories of a simpler time. Oh, and let's not forget the commercial where Red Chocolate M&M and Yellow Peanut M&M run into Santa Claus. XD Edit: One more side note, I guess this tells how much I had forgotten about it, but there was also "The Nut Cracker" that had been adapted a few times. Would be nice to see an actually good and memorable version as a movie... Edited January 1, 2018 by Tiger Carson
