qwert
Heya! I've only just gotten into Star Fox, but I've always been stuck at around 80% in Course 1 in the first game. That was until I figured out my TV had a built in "Game Mode", which seems to turn off some visual fidelity features like post processing and gives a raw image for the least input lag. Did a run and got a 98%, so it seems I was being somewhat handicapped by it. Picture in spoilers for proof! Spoiler So what are your best scores? Doesn't have to be Star Fox, I recognise there's a maximum score in that game.
Owner/Technical Admin Sideways Posted February 11, 2024 Owner/Technical Admin Share Posted February 11, 2024 Are you playing on a modern LCD tv or an older CRT TV? My retro systems are hooked to my LED tv using a RetroTink which basically helps convert the image with almost no lag. It was worth the $150 i paid for it. qwert
Oh sorry I wasn't notified, I'm using a modern TV. Well by modern I mean it's a few years old, 2010ish? I do have a CRT but it outputs in black and white, lol Oh I forgot to ask, how good is the video form the Retrotink? I'm fine with the output from my TV as it is, got input lag down quite a bit. Owner/Technical Admin Sideways Posted February 16, 2024 Owner/Technical Admin Share Posted February 16, 2024 I can't really tell a difference with video output with the RetroTink. It looks just as good as it did back in the day, at least with the N64, but that could have connected to my TV without it. I use it for the other systems like the Genesis that outputs in 240i which my Vizio TV doesn't understand. I had been using a cheap AV to HDMI converter but the picture quality sucked, it was too dark. At least with the RetroTink everything looks good and there's no lag from what I can see. qwert
Huh gotcha, they're a tad too expensive for me but I can see them being worth it to some folk :P
