If you wish to use them, go into your profile. Under "look and layout settings" is an option that says "Current Smiley Set." From the drop menu, you can select the set you want. No Smilies - smilies will not be shown Forum/Board Default - See Also: Fox Generic - The old smilies that we have had since the phpbb days. Fox - the Fox smilies made by Lilacs.
