Does anybody here actually LIKE Assault?

Wow, Kursed, you're really ticked off about the HP issue, aren't you?

HP was never really a problem for me in Assault. Now in COMMAND it was pretty annoying...

I don't have any problems with Assault, probably because it's the fist Starfox game I have gotten good at. And I LOVE the multiplayer, especially how you can play as Krystal (that second barrier is handy) and Wolf.

I would like a non-linear campaign, though.

yes  I do.

like it!?!??! I LOVED it. It was one of the two starfox games I grew up to. The only negatives were, just run around and shoot gameplay and how short it was. I could beat it in like, 4 hours.

My opinion on everything Assault:

The graphics were great to me. I found the opening cutscene and the ones toward the end to be the most impressive. I actually feel that they could be good enough to be in a movie. The space levels also looked great (as usual), but perhaps the on-foot levels could've benefited from some more detail. All of them looked nice and slick, but they felt as if they were missing something.

Gameplay wise...the missions where you fly in the Arwing are awesome. Good controls in particular, and although I found it a little easy, the difficulty is really romped up when you play on the hardest setting. By the way, the final battle vs. the Aparoid Queen is one of my favorite moments in the series.

The ground missions...aren't nearly as bad as some people say. In fact, I think that the ones found in Star Wars Rebel Strike are way clunkier and worse overall than the ones in Assault. True, the controls in this case take some getting used to but aren't really bothersome after that. The main problem is that it's always the same: "Fox, destroy the designated targets!" Seriously...they're presented in different ways, but still basically the same objective every time.

Music...epic. The Starfox theme got a nice update and the Starwolf theme has been slowed down to great effect. Those two themes as well as the rest are still recognizable from Starfox 64, only improved. Voice acting is corny at times but each of the voices fit each character very well.

Overall...Starfox Assault is a very underrated game. It has plenty of memorable moments and it's biggest problem is that it's too short. Only 10 levels with no alternative paths or anything? The levels are fun to play through again though. I'd give Assault at least an 8/10.

I agree with you, they needed to add a few more levels, but overall, I think that Assault was a successful game, and a great game in the series, and I consider it the latest game in the storyline.

The graphics were really good in the space levels, but on foot missions, Fox looks really weird. His texture is a little washed out, they should have made it the same as in the cutscenes.

all and all, it was an excellent game.  I wish that they would've put zoness and story paths in it. ANd maybe have good VA instead of the apathetic fox voice.

Yeah the single tonish fox...

I think that is a big part why Assault didn't do as well as 64, because of the paths, and also Zoness was a great level that they took out :(

YES! I started playing the story/missions in Assault today, and boy is it fun! I'm a little disappointed at my lack of skill, probably because every time I've seen somebody play, they have been absolutely awesome. I'm working my way through on Bronze level, which is providing a reasonable challenge. I am VERY happy to have had previous on-foot training, without it I would have probably given up by now. It took me 4 tries to finally beat the Inner Sargasso spaceport, 'cause I kept getting lost! Actually, first time through, I died on the first mission taking on Oikonny, and again taking on the Aparoid.  :hehe:  Fortunately, since then I've improved quite a bit.

The funny thing is, I have serious difficulty with finding my way around (probably because of the tiny, fuzzy TV I've been playing on), but once I get in an Arwing, I start to Ace everything. It took me 2 tries in sargasso just to find the stupid elevator to get to the top level, and then once I got there and did that, I couldn't find my way down again, and I had to listen to my team (mainly Krystal... :() begging for help while Star Wolf beat them up. That was depressing. Then, the fourth time, I managed to destroy all the targets inside, and I was in that Arwing before Peppy could say otherwise. Once I got outside, I had Star Wolf beat in under a minute, including saving Krystal and Falco from groups of fighters.

As it is now, I'm a little stuck on Fichina (that boss thing... I keep getting lazor'd down!), but I'm content with my progress so far. Perhaps I'll get some "training" done, see if I can't get the Bronze medals  for the second and third missions...

But anyway, yes, I do actually LIKE assault.

Yes, Assault is great :)

The boss on Fichina you gotta shoot a bomb inside it where it fires its laser.

Yeah, I think Falco yelled that at me at one point. I keep losing Arwings though... Slippy's not gonna be happy.

People are usually not happy with Slippy.

I loved Assault, I might be the only one who did somewhat enjoy the on-foot missions (could have been better). Only things that lacked were missions, not enough railing, AI. Of course, Slippy, and Krystal just stand there after you clear out the enemies telling you to, being the hypocrites that they are telling you to 'stop messing around!' made it funny nonetheless. Also there's the fact that there's no checkpoints when you're onfoot (gaaah! Aparoid City was a pain Dx). Frankly, I love a challenge, but there are some things onfoot lacked as would some shooting games would have (crouching, hide behind walls, etc.). Multi-player...man...I actually do not have much friends who are interested in the SF series, so I lack people to play with on Multi-player.

In my eyes, the game seemed rushed or had some decent amount of content cut out. Assault, indeed, could have been better in many ways to make it my top favorite...but...I am like most people who prefer the 64 version over the rest. Assault comes in second in my favorite SF game.

Your not the only one who liked the foot missions :). However, Aparoid city is one of my favorites for single player, massive combo chain = there.

Multi-player...man...I actually do not have much friends who are interested in the SF series, so I lack people to play with on Multi-player.

Arr, I used ta play multiplayer all the time, it is so AMAZING, but no one ever wants to play it with me anymore... single player was kinda... not that great for me, but multiplayer is just a kick in the pants with awesomeness.

unless you just meant put Zonness in singleplayer, it is, just in multi-player
