When fighting, would you want a higher attack level or a higher defense level?  No, I'm not putting a "both" option, because EVERYONE would pick that and the poll would be pointless.

Personally, I would prefer a higher attack rating.  It's a power thing.

Defense, let your rival wear him self out trying to knock down your defense and when his power is all gone, punch his head off.

An offense is nothing without defense.

Or vice versa....

I'd like to be defensive.

Defense. Outlasting is outliving. This is how I always set up characters for any sort of fighting thing.

The only thing I prefer to defense is speed. Speed + power = awesome killing machine, even with low defense.

Defense. It'd certainly make fighting easier. Besides, I'd prefer to turn strength back at the opponent.

Sheesh, I guess I just have a violent mind...I know that my body would never attack anyone...

Defense, definitely.  What point is having superior attack if you can't break through?

Unless you're facing a strong, speedy person.  Which is why Guy pwns Fire Emblem.  ^_^

But I figured that if you have a super-massive attack power, you can defeat anyone.

800th post, by the way.

Strongest sword breaks the strongest shield when go have a go at each other. Offense, because I'd rather hurt someone with defense than watch him hit me.

Offense. I can then combine it with my lightning speed, and be a deadly force. (Much like Fox in the Smash series!)

too much speed = bad thing, unable to control, loose lifes.

Defense. Then Shield Block and Helm Splitter.

I think Blaster's been playing too much TP...XD

See, offensive leaves you open to parrying.  You can't parry a block.  Defensive strategies are what make the quarterstaff one of the most dangerous weapons around; a well-trained bo-man can disarm almost any close-range opponent if he knows what he's doing.

Even in a gunfight, you usually hide behind cover and wait for a reload, right?  The gunman with the upperhand is the one who best uses his cover.  Take Gears of War for instance.  Using the terrain to cover you is what keeps you alive in that game.  Yes, there's a time to go on the offensive, but if you rush in gung-ho, you're going to get lit up like a matchstick.

A better example IMO would be KillSwitch for the PS2.

Haven't played Killswitch.  I just know GoW's cover system is very handy in keeping you not-dead.

KillSwitch is all about taking cover and shit.

As is Gears of War.  Difference is Gears of War got almost perfect scores all around, with special nods toward the cover feature.  ^_^
