Dashster
I got the rom and the GC game (so its not bad). Anyway... You need a FREAKIN MEGA ULTRA SUPER PWNAGE PC to run those roms.. I have a 2.8 Ghz processor and 1 Gb of RAM plus an ATI Radeon 9200 graphics card and I could'nt even emulate right with a 640x480 resolution (it was like 2 or 3 fps). Anyway the only reason I got that rom is for screenshots. I got so many pics.. Anyway, I spent over 6 DAMN HOURS on mission 1 because of super ultra slow emulation. Besides it does'nt look that great. It does'nt show transparent stuff like the arwing's windshield (Fox sticks out of the cockpit) and the green glow on those G-Diffusers.. YOU CAN'T EVEN SEE THE LAZERS YOU SHOOT! Also, the sound is messed up. It keeps repeating and some 3d models don't show up.. You can't do vs mode and you can't see game text (briefing screen does'nt show up either).. And BESIDES.... Its a 1.12 Gb file. Now to answer your question....The rom can ONLY be gotten with a Bittorrent download client.. Oh and I forgot to say I used the Dolphin 1.02 emulator... Here are some screenshots so you understand what I mean...(these were all taken with the emulator set to 1280x960 but since there's no full screen mode i had to cut the emulator window. almost 1280x960 png file format for perfect quality.) Cutscene shots (Only 2 of Krystal for now.. These don't look that sharp because cutscenes are not rendered.. theyre just resized.) http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/cutscene1.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/cutscene2.png Rom shots (rendered scenes, this is how the rom looks like while in-game..) http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/pix1.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/pix2.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/pix3.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/pix4.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/pix5.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/pix6.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/pix7.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/pix8.png Wireframe shots (a master's work) http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/wireframe1.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/wireframe2.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/wireframe3.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/wireframe4.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/wireframe5.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/wireframe6.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/wireframe7.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/wireframe8.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/wireframe9.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/wireframe10.png http://img.2yr.net/dan/rom/wireframe11.png

Zack
You do know that if you dont have the game that downloading the ROM would be illegal... same for the emulator... no gamecube, illegal emulator...

Dashster
Anyway.. The gamecube emulator/roms are not that great as you would expect.. Its not just because you need a freakin fast computer but because the emulator is in a very beta stage right now and it seems they're gonna cancel further development for the Dolphin emulator.. It has many small bugs, the only thing the roms could be useful for is screenshotting at high res or just enjoying a 2 or 3 FPS game... (I'm downloading SFA btw. Yay for high res Krystal renders!) DZComposer
That's probabaly not even enough. many computers out there are technically superior to the gamecube. The problem is that you have to emulate the enitre system as well as run the game. My computer packs an AMD64 3500+ with a gig and a half of RAM and a Radeon 9800 pro and it doesn't even emulate Star Fox 64 properly. (Don't call me lucky. I had to work 90 freaking hours to get enough money for that comp) Many of the glitches described will not go away with just more compy power. They are emulation problems, not lack of power problems. You framerate might increase to playable, but many of the things that aren't rendering likely won't show up. I haven't run any GC emulators on my comp yet, so I can't say anything from that kind of expiriance, but trust me, you'd be better off renting a GC and the game. Zack
One question... how in the world would I get a faster processor and put it in my PC... or would I have to get a new PC?
DZComposer
People, GHz has less to do with performance than you think. GHz is just the processor's internal metronome. Other factors can speed it it's work. The AMD64 4000+ is susposed to be at least equal to a 4 GHz P4. The Pentium M chips also run at lower clockspeeds, but they are damn-efficient and perform better than P4s at the same clock speed. Intel's shoved clock speeds down everybody's throats for so long that everyone forgets that there is more to it than just hertz. When choosing a platform, look at more than just GHz. Look at the flops and the FSB as well. Also look at how much L1 and L2 cache you're getting. "One question... how in the world would I get a faster processor and put it in my PC... or would I have to get a new PC?" That depends on what motherboard you have. If you have a mobo built for a Pentium 3 (sounds like you do, 500MHz), you can't put a P4 in it. So, you'd have to get a new mobo. Since that P3 board probably uses PC100/PC133 RAM, you'll likely need to buy all new RAM because that PC100/PC133 went the way of the dodo and it is hard to find new boards that have it. You'll need to get DDR RAM (PC2100/PC2700/PC3200). Sounds like a lot, but it is cheaper than getting a new PC. I did this when I upgraded Arwing from a P4 2.4 GHz platform to an AMD643500+ platform. Only set me back about $500. An entire PC with those specs would easily cost over $1000. Now, in your case, upgrading to a midrange P4 will probabaly only set you back maybe $350 at the very most. If you get these: Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813128285 $52 (there are cheaper P4 bards on the site, but they are Epox and ECS. Leave those brands alone.) Onboard LAN and Sound. CPU (the expensive part): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819116170 (2.8 P4, HT, comes with heatsink) $178 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145026 (512 Corsair [good brand!]) $50 Total: $280. Keep your Graphics card, modem, and Hard Drives. Unless the video or modem was built into your old mobo, in which case you'd need to get a graphics card or modem as the board I showed you has no onboard video nor an onboard modem. This Dell has similar specs to these parts: http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/featured_dp_dotw_dimen3?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs Cost: $649 Once you build your own once, you'll never buy a prebuilt PC again! Want a warranty, don't worry. All component manufacturers have at least a 1 year warranty on the parts. One goes bad, RMA it and they'll send you a new one. It isn't hard. If you can use a screwdriver and plug in a lamp, you can put a computer together. EDIT: You may need a power supply. P4 boards need a 4-pin auxillary connector. Look inside your computer for a cord that looks like this: . If you don't see it, you'll need a new power supply. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817182001 $14 (okay brand) If you want a damn-good brand: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103934 , but that's $52. Wow, Power supplies have gotten cheap! I remember payong $70 for a generic one not too long ago. :D
