Stencyl is currently under private development, and will be open to the public in the month of May!

I am so excited!

I still say that there's a difference between not REQUIRING script and working WELL without it.  GameMaker, arguably one of the most powerful of these utils at the moment (people have made DOOM clones, for Pete's sake!), doesn't "require" script; it's all point-and-click for the most part.  Scripting is supported, though, because it allows flexibility that the templates just can't reach; the general consensus on the forum is that scripting is far superior to simple point-and-click.  I do hope that Stencyl at least allows scripting to be used for that reason.

Though I have to say, the downloadable templates are quite good, assuming they can emulate the games they're looking for well.  This is my biggest qualm with GameMaker; the basic platform, shooting, etc. games were just that:  basic.  You can't make a decent Mario game without modifying their platform base, which doesn't even show you how to animate properly (it's possible, but they don't tell you how).  Hence, I'm really looking forward to that part.

<minirant>But why the huge difference between the Megaman games and Mario?  Aesthetics aside, they're only subtly different:  one has a world map, the other has level select; one has powerups, the other, selectable weapons; one has a healthbar, the other doesn't; and so on.  I guess it makes things a little easier, but then why not a Contra template?  How 'bout Prince of Persia?  Where's the scrolling beat-'em-up template?  Castletroid/Metrlevania?</minirant>

I'm not ragging on the program; it looks wonderful.  But I'm at least suspicious of their claims.  I'll believe it when I see it.  And I'm glad they're providing a strat-RPG base; I can imagine that would be a pain to build on your own.

Stencyl will allow scripting for more advance programmers, but it looks like the main focus of this game maker is point 'n click.

Stencyl also is broken up into parts. The kits, player (Emulator), Graphics editor, Script editer, and more.

Only problem is most the stuff hasn't been made yet, the Emulator (Stencyl play) and The kits are all in the alpha stage

I can't say much about how the games are emulated, well just have to wait until the Beta is released to find out by hand.

More kits are being made, the only two kits that have started are the Mario and Mega man games (for obvious reasons). But I assure you there will be scrolling beat-'em-up kit, In Stencyl there is even talk about letting developers (Users) to morph to kits together.

Time will tell, The beta release has been moved to before or after October 07, the May release will be the Mario and Mega man kits and the emulator.

So you're testing the alpha, I take it.

My point is that "point and click" is nothing new.  GameMaker has had that long before and seems to be more powerful in terms of 3D support.  Stencyl's only one-up on GM is the premade kits by the sound of things (of course, it's a huge one-up); everything else seems very much like GM at this stage.  Of course, we'll have to wait for the release.  But I'm satisfied with remaining skeptical.  =P
