Four-eyed Vulpine
Yeah, 25, my bad. I would think it would be hard to pull a character trend out of this series so early. This is only the third game, not like the tenth or something. Had there been more games before this one, a character trend would probably be a lot more obvious. Also, weren't the secret characters revealed beforehand for Melee? I had learned Falco was a confirmed character for Melee before its release, and he was a secret character. I know for a fact that Nintendo itself didn't reveal the secret characters early, because I remember seeing the first "revealed" character several weeks after I had gotten it myself. IGN didn't post the secret character list until about 6 days after the release of Melee in Japan, long enough for them and other players to find them all. (http://insider.ign.com/teasers/316/316486.html) Melee was released in Japan November 21st, 2001, so naturally, the secret characters were revealed on the internet around 6 days before it arrived in North America. So, no, the secret characters weren't revealed beforehand, from what I can gather.
Sol-Ratcht Saporro
Well, I'm alright with it. I get the sense that Ninty is going to balance out the roster as best they can with the different games. All I'm waiting for is the update with sommore Star Fox characters! Preferably Wolf over Krystal.
Steve
I highly doubt that Krystal was the 2nd or 3rd more requested >.>, more like...80th , for what I know Wolf was even more requested than Krystal, but still, at least, she will get to be in as an Assist trophy xP. After all, with the delay, I'm sure Nintendo will put over 50 characters sooo, who knows, you guys could get lucky <<. I've got the official list, as posted on the Japanese side of the Dojo before they switched to their current, update each weekday, structure. Keep in mind that this list does not contain characters that appeared in previous Smash games, nor did it apparently include Sonic. I'm not sure why, but assume that Sonic was the most requested character by far, for everyone else, this is the official list: King Dedede(5) - Kirby's partly evil rival *Diddy Kong(4) - Donkey Kong's buddy Geno(4) - Puppet from Super Mario RPG *Ike(4) - Good guy from Fire Emblem Ridley(4) - Samus Aran's evil rival Captain Olimar & Pikmin(3) - Main character in Pikmen and his followers Krystal(3) - You know her Takamaru(3) - Japan-only samurai character Windwaker Link(3) - Young, cell-shaded Link Animal Crossing MC(2) - The "you" in Animal Crossing games, I believe Claus(2) - Earthbound 3 character Demiru(2) - Character from a Japan only game. Isaac(2) - The main character from Golden Sun. Jeff(2) - Earthbound main character Professor Kawashima(2) - The floating head in Brain Age games King K. Rool(2) - Donkey Kong's villain Lip(2) - Character from what would become Tetris Attack in America *Lucas(2) - Earthbound character Mega Man(2) - Robot boy who can take the powers of other robots, very popular Oguma(2) - Fire Emblem character Ouendan(2) - Characters from the game that would become Elite Beat Agents in America Sukapon(2) - Good robot character from Japan only NES game * = confirmed As you can see, Krystal is in a four-way tie for 3rd place. She's the number one most requested female character by far. Source Dang, I'll eat my words there, I was talking with Zack (slippygoingno) when I posted that and he told me Krystal was around the 50th+ to nowhere. So basically, seeing how "supportive" this smash is being with SF, they should at least put krystal or wolf, maybe both; from my point of view, I agree with Sol xP, preferably Wolf , but still Krystal fighting with a staff would be awesome too. Syphe D. Mar
October 25--Characters--King Dedede The THIRD Kirby series character to enter the fray. Do you think they're going overboard? First, Kirby series: Zelda: 5 Mario: 5+Family Series Kirby: ...3 Not at all. It's just one more than Star Fox since Melee. There will probably be lots of characters coming from a particular series now. Besides, everyone wanted MetaKnight in Melee and the people asked for Dedede. Of course, it's probably because they like Sakurai and want more of his creations in. Second, Sonic: I have nothing against Sonic being in Brawl. He fits in well with a plumber, an electric mouse, and some fox that stands upright with a gun. In Smash, scaling has affected every character. Kirby's official height is 8 inches, and how tall is he in Smash? About the same as everyone else. Bowser, from three times the size of Mario, shrunk... a lot. Link's sword is supposed to cut, which obviously isn't working. They're still going to make Sonic fast, just not unscaled to the point where it's pointless to play anyone else. "Nintendo-only" was 6 years ago. Deal with the change. I personally don't like it, but if they can make it look pretty and play well, then good. If it isn't, then that would be the big letdown. Eh, as long as no one says, "Sonic is BRAWL!!111eleven111 1'M N07 50NN4 3UY $M@$h 3R0z BCUZ H3'S A N00BZORS," I'll tolerate any hatred for the poor guy's inclusion. :D
Owner/Technical Admin Sideways Posted October 27, 2007 Owner/Technical Admin Share Posted October 27, 2007 Why hate on Sonic? He's my absolute fav videogame character EVER. I am stoked he is in SSBB and I will buy it the minute it comes out, and more because he is in it.

I hate no-one, especially not Sonic. However, I felt (not so much now) that he would be scaled beyond most recognition if included. To some extend, I was right. Nearly all of his moves involve him spinning, which makes up a pretty small part of his normal activities in games. However, that kind of scaling was the type of thing I didn't know if they could pull off. Obviously, they did, and I'm glad for that. Secondly, "Nintendo-only" is there for a reason. Name one other company that's made more than one hundred games that has the persentage of quality games/characters as Nintendo. Most other companies can only claim two or three. Nintendo claims about 10. Sure, Sonic's great, but the reason people like me wanted to keep it Nintendo only was because if you include one third party character, what's stopping you from including any third party character? The standard is not as black and white as it was before. A slippery slope I fear. Edit: As in the number of SERIES that are quality.
Sol-Ratcht Saporro
Lol her cameo apperance will be 1 second long as Krys says goodbye to fox as he goes to fight in brawl LMAO. If that were to happen, just imagine the sound of hundreds and hundreds of hearts snapping in half. I generally am indifferent with Sonic being in Brawl. Hey, the more time they put into the game, the more epicness will overflow. I truly can't wait to get my hands on the Adventure Mode! Squee! Infinity
Holy crap... Fox taking down a Rayquaza... That was freaking sweet. A Rayquaza is tied to have the second greatest stat base total in all of pokémon, only falling short of Arceus. It'll take more than a reflected dragon pulse back at it to put it down for good... If my theory is correct... we just saw another boss, Rayquaza...
Four-eyed Vulpine
Yeah, I saw Fox beat a Rayquaza, and I just sat here and thought "DAAAAAAANG." But then again, in the world of Smash, Jigglypuff can beat Giga Bowser, so I guess it's not so surprising. :(

Infinity
In my usual geekery discussions with people (this time on Shoddy Battle, the pokémon battle simulator for the fourth gen) something interesting came up. Apparently in the next issue of Coro Coro (Japanse magazine that reveals al ot of pokémon stuff and generally a lot of other Nintendo stuff...) it is speculated that Brawl characters will be revealed. More specifically the starting line up. Take a look. http://www.mother-jp.net/times/20071121.html Translation: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://www.mother-jp.net/times/20071121.html&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=8&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dwww.mother-jp.net/times/20071121.html%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG If we could get someone who knows a bit of Japanese to translate it without the google translation that'd be most wonderful.
