So Sonic and Snake are confirmed as secret characters now.

http://gonintendo.com/?p=33077

As such, there's nothing stopping Nintendo from revealing all playable characters before launch.

When I saw that Captain Olimar is going to be a playable character, my jaw dropped.  I never really liked playing Pikmin, and I'm really surprised that he made the roster.

By the way, where did he rank on that list?

I might have some bad news. I saw today at work in the manager office a new release paper. It had an entry entitled Super Smash Bros that had a release date for 3/10 or 3/11 instead of 2/10. If I can manage to get pics of it, I will find a way to post them for proof.

Apparently we weren't completely misguided about the Coro Coro thing. Snake and Sonic are hidden characters for one.

There are also reports of Shaymin taking pokéball appearance in the latest demo, but I have yet to see any pictures.

It's official, guys. Brawl delayed until March 9th. So I was off by a day. Amazing though that I "cheated" and found that paper and it turned out to be mostly true.

At this point, I can't imagine why they're doing this, but I suppose there's not much of an option. If they're going to bring us the best title in the series, let them take their time to polish it up as they see fit.

If it does come out this year as they promised, so much the better.

I hope they have delayed the game in order to fix any bugs that might occur and also to add in even more secret stuff! March 9th isn't so bad to me, because my birthday is 3 days before. I will preorder it.

They wouldn't delay it at this point to add new features. They most likely delayed it because of a game-killing glitch that was discovered right before (or even after) they began creating the hard copy discs. To add new features, they'd need more than a month because every time you add something to a program, you have to retest the whole thing, which takes a good deal of time. All this before you send it off to be duplicated and put in boxes (a process that takes at least a month).

If that's true, then finally some good news about Brawl!

One of my math study partners (at Digipen, a school where students are often hired as game testers for Nintendo) knows someone personally, who revealed most of the secrets of Brawl. He wouldn't tell me what they were because he promised he'd keep them secret (after all, the original guy was breaking his NDA). It's kinda annoying to know that someone nearby knows everything you want to know, but can't tell you. Some questions he would answer in casual conversation were these:

ABOUT 90% of the characters in Brawl have been revealed (at least the ones he knew of).

He's not that excited about any of the yet unrevealed characters (could mean anything).

Megaman confirmed NOT to be in Brawl (but we kinda already knew that), he said he was disappointed by this, and I concur.

I get the impression that Windwaker Link is a playable character, but it could go either way easily.

"Pretty much all" of the big secrets have already been revealed. Quote, "really, the biggest secret was that Sonic was going to be in it."

The only thing that really surprises me there is that we've been exposed to roughly ninety percent of all the characters. We've been shown 24.5 (count Sheik and Zelda however you like) already, so by that estimate we'll only see a total of thirty characters in the game. I wonder what happened to the notion of compiling forty characters into the game.

I'm sorry, Dwight, but I'm a skeptic of this. If he cannot share any real information then he can't prove anything.

There have been people who do prophesies on the net and other crazy things. All of them have been proven false and most likely did it for the attention. I go by facts and hard evidence, even then sometimes that can be misleading.

You're right, but this is not just some guy on the Internet. He's a guy who play-tested Metroid Prime 3. He's been inside Nintendo, as I have. He's far more reliable than some random person on the internet. I know him personally and I know he actually does potentially have access to this kind of information. Nevertheless, until what he says is shown, he shouldn't be believed.

I'm some guy on the Internet though. Who was the first person here to catch that Krystal leak? :D

Heck we've been faster in picking up some things than Smashboards.

People will do anything for attention for Brawl. All you need to say is that you know something and people will give you attention.

Take everything with a grain of salt in the next 11 days.

*shakes head* Don't ya just hate fake leakers?

Well you're in luck, I've discovered some real news, Lucario, J-puff, and Ness are back, and I have proof.

Sponge is my friend. I took some screens of the same thing he did.

These are unedited.

You heard it here first...

Ness and Lucario in Brawl.

Don't forget Jigglypuff!

Edit:

On second thought, perhaps that stuff on the bottom just refers to related trophies, since Pokemon characters only show up when a Pokemon sticker is selected.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/modea/modea12.html Look at the cell phone screen. It has to relate to the fighter affected by it.

By the way, you might want to add this in to the main page with the tidbit of Krystal sticker if you want this site to get a lot of hits tonight, Dwight.

What do ya know? Site's had the video edited.

Sorry, it's still a rumor. I've stopped posting rumors on the main site (and at the KA) unless they were officially published by some magazine.

Well, if we just report things confirmed off of a magazine then we'll be one step behind everyone else. I mean this is pretty neat info and you're not going to really find better quality screenshots of this. Nintendo edited the video too, so it is pretty obvious that this has rose to about a 99% conformation status.

I agree that there needs to be some sort of check on the authenticity of a rumor, but you know... I only report things that I find that I'm sure are at least 90% true. Only the things I've posted such as this, the Krystal voice actress leak, and the Coro Coro thing were the only things that rose above 90% for me.

The Coro Coro thing turned out to be false, but you know Ms. Gladwell cannot say anything about Brawl until it is released, but you know the sticker shows Krystal is in Brawl in some form so I'm at least one for two. That's a lot better than the Smash Prophets out there : P

I brought Sponge here because he's sometimes more keen on that kind of stuff than I am. I go through a process of verification or debunking it as just a lie with him with all of the stuff he shows me. Trust me, those three things were the only things that I could not disprove when I investigated it (he's must've shown me 20-50 different things over the past few months). I am sure he will have a lot to contribute and anyone can investigate at their own leisure.

If we don't cover some rumors, even the ones at 90%+ conformation status I think we're missing out on something that could strengthen a fan driven community. Ideas and speculation is what brings a lot of us together, right? If we're wrong, we're wrong. On the other hand if we're right... Props to us for catching something before most people will notice.
