DZComposer Posted May 30, 2007 Share Posted May 30, 2007 I have a pretty decent collection of classic Star Fox fanart (between 130 and 140 images), most of it dating between 1998 and 2000 when the series was in it's prime. I think it would be neat to have a classic fanart section of the site. The issue is that most artists want to be contacted before their work is posted on sites like ours. Some of these artists have fallen off the face of the internet, but those that still are probably consider it to be old and embarrassing. Furthermore, some of the images are of poor resolution and the signatures are illegible, while others are unsigned. I am about 90% sure that all of these either came from artists' galleries or from older SF sites that obtained permission. Known Artists in Collection: Juju China H. Jenna Darrenger (sp?) (signed as "Haley S.") Edward Lee ("Puffy Wolf") Toasty Julian Ho Mary Beth Kiczenski ("Super Crazzy") M.R. Carter Luna Yoshi Vix3000 Vargas Zoe 2000 Caitlin Worth Kyla DeYoung "Falco" *Sig illegible* There are others, but the sigs are either illegible or nonexistent. I have seen a few of those names on DeviantArt recently and a couple of theme I know are on other boards, but others have fallen off the face of the internet. Those are the easy ones to contact. The ethical dilemma arises with the unidentifiable artists or people I can't contact. Of course there would be a clause on the page stating that if an artist wishes their work to be removed it would be promptly. Any thoughts? Mr. Krystal Posted May 30, 2007 Share Posted May 30, 2007 I think it would be appropriate to post images that are unidentifiable with the explaination that these are "unidentifiable" fanarts and asking for anyone who can to identify the fanart. This provides an opportunity the artists or others to identify the art with minimal violation. Four-eyed Vulpine Posted May 31, 2007 Share Posted May 31, 2007 This is a good idea, the site REALLY needs an art section. However, I had some ideas in addition to the classic art section. We have quite a significant fan art section in the forums. What we need is a corresponding art section on the site, where all the artists in the forum are listed with their own galleries. I might be able to get in touch with Juju again, though I haven't spoken to her in a while. Oh wait, I think "M. R. Carter" might be my sister, too. c.c This is crazy! And I have to add, I'd love to see Marybeth Kiczenski's art again. She was a big influence in my early Star Fox days.
