"Pleiades"???

If you notice today's SSBB news, it discusses Fox's "Lylat Cruise" level.

But has this "Pleiades" ship ever been in any SF games before? From the looks of it, it seems rather SNES-y (SSB games basically touch upon various titles in each series, not just the most recent).

I think they modeled it after the Cornerian fleet ships from the opening of Assault, but much sleeker.

Edit:

Note that Pleiades is the name of Greek legend:

Its looks like it was modeled on Assault's Cornerian ships,

espicially when it warps through to that epic space battle,

soughta remenisant to first stage on Assault.

I don't know thats what I think, i like the idea and design of the stage. :P

The ship looks cool.

It could be in the new starfox game...maybe?

I don't know... Smash games have a history of NOT putting content from future games in them. The only exception I can think of is the fact that there were a couple of Pikmin inspired trophies in Melee. But they didn't use Fox's new look, or Samus's Prime Suit, or anything that hadn't been used before.

Roy was not out by the time Melee was released either. Maybe the Pleiades is included in the same way.

Anyway, if it is, we can safely assume that the Cornerian fleet are named after Greek figures or stars.

It still seems fishy, though, how they would include a major idea in a Star Fox stage that has NEVER been seen anywhere in the series, yet it won't be in a future game, either.  An attempt to inspire new ideas, maybe?

Maybe Foxie went broke and had to cut off the upper half of the Great Fox.

Oh shut up, it was only a bad joke.
