Concerning graphic stories

Yesterday, I recieved this PM:

Hello, DZComposer, I read the "Rules" thread in the Fanfiction section and I have a proposition that would seriously bend the rules.

You see, I write on FF.Net and I'd like to post my story and one-shot(s) on this forum for people to read...but there's just a tiny problem: my work has been diagnosed "extremely violent and twisted". The one-shots aren't necessarily as gory as my main story, so I don't see any reason as to why they may not be posted with a warning.

But another user posted something about posting a "clean" version and linking to the original. I don't think I can censor my story (the violence is far too persistent), but I think that I may be able to post the first chapter and link to the rest, so as not to make the thread consist of nothing more than a link.

If this is alright, I wanted to verify that the first chapter may be posted. Below i've quoted the most violent passages:

"rotten corpses leaned up against the wall, oozing blood and covered with maggots. A sight such as this would set a normal beast cringing and vomiting, just trying to get the image out of one’s head…all the vulpine saw was more reminiscence of his own torn figure. His eyes were bloodshot from forced lack of sleep, his back was nothing but a bloody torrent of bare skin and fur brought upon by the bullwhip of his aggressor"

"He hit the back of the oversized nail and sent it crunching through Jada’s neck and and spinal cord, the vixen hung paralyzed and screaming, unable to move at all as the wicked aggressor pounded the spike further and further into the oaken wall"

Here is a link to the first chapter of the story in question:  http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3123108/1/

I have no idea what the measure of violence tolerated on this forum is, but I'm going to post two of my one-shots soon after i'm done typing this message. If they violate the rules, you can remove them and ban me if you like.

I want to determine whether or not this would violate the story content policy. I'm on the fence with this one. It's too close to call, though I am leaning towards not allowing it.

Note that I am basing my evaluation solely on the quote provided. I have not read the thing yet due to time constraints.

Ugh, I broke my own rule (never read ff.net) and skimmed through the story. First, let me say that, judging solely based on the fanfic rules, the story itself would be banned under the "no graphic depictions of death" point. Assuming that vixen actually dies, I sure hope she does. c.c I didn't see either of the two passages quoted in anything that I skimmed, but by the time I hit "esophagus", I was cringing. >.<;; So, I think his judgment of his own works' violent and graphic natures stands firmly.

The foggy area comes in that the first chapter (which I read) is perfectly acceptable. But if he gives a warning with a link offsite to the other parts of the story, is that sufficient, or will it break the rules? In other words, is linking to a story here the same as posting it, for terms of following the posted rules. This is a judgment that would be more up to you. Personally, I would allow it, so long as the warning is VERY clear.

In the meantime, I'd suggest directing this person's attentions to me. I can, if nothing else, preview his one-shots and decide if they're suitable for posting with a warning; I can also give him some suggestions as to where else he might be able to post his work, if he's interested in finding a bigger audience.

Based on the quote, I too think that's a bit far (okay, a lot far). Often, descriptions of barely alive (torture) are worse than descriptions of death. We only have a rule about death:

2. Graphic descriptions of death are prohibited.

I think we should change that to:

2. Graphic descriptions of death or torture are prohibited.

However, I don't have a problem with this person creating a topic about his fic (with proper warnings), but linking to it, rather than posting it directly on the board. That will prevent someone from accidentally viewing something too gory for their tastes.
