Well, here we go!  A geeky poll!  I'm curious to see what everyone thinks of these subjects...

Me: I'm a true nerd.  I love it all!

I like Chemistry, and work hard at everything, but I hate Math, numbers have never been my strongest suit.

Lib-eral Arts! Lib-eral Arts! Lib-eral Arts! Lib-eral Arts!

Especially English and History. Don't care which history; American, Classical, European, Islamic, Mesopotamian, Asian, you name it, I'm all over it.

If there is one thing about science I like, it's natural history. I love going to the Natural History Museum in NYC. I could spend hours there...*drools at thought of spending more time in Hall of Human Origins* :(

Science in general = win

Agreed.

So what do you plan to do with liberal arts, AB91?

What do I plan to do with Liberal Arts? That's a fine question. Liberal Arts is interesting because the choices it provides is very open-ended. This obviously can be a blessing and a curse. At this time, I am not 100% sure of which direction I will take. But I've got some ideas...

If this makes it sound as though Liberal Arts is a waste of time, let me tell you that it is not. Liberal Arts is very important for one reason; it nurtures your brain. It teaches you to develop your own thoughts. Science is rather like this as well, but Liberal Arts allows you think for yourself from a global, even universal, perspective. How you use this is up to you.

I'm aware that there are tons of opportunity in Liberal Arts, and every other subject for that matter.  However, you will benefit if you choose a distinct major and career as soon as possible.  That way you know you're going in the direction you know you want to.

What are your ideas?

As good as I am at it, and as much as I love it, I am unlikely to major in English simply because it presents a huge roadblock for employment to me. I'll probably major in American History. As for career choices...

Journalist

Novelist (unlikely)

Historian (What topic? Either American, Western in general, or baseball. Hey, David Halberstam did it. Look him up.)

General Manager of Major League Baseball team (In addition to wanting this job badly, I think I may have something of a shot.)

Filmmaker (Hard work, but probably would be a great job regardless. I already have some ideas in my head, though that may be more for screenwriting.)

And there are also other, less likely options.

Novelist (unlikely)

Yeah, full-time Novelist are lucky to bring in enough money to make ends meet consistently. And if it is full time, you're probably doing it more for the money than enjoyment. It's best as a hobby or side job when you have that kind of spare time.
