What is this "Sonic says" meme, and why would it make PSA's and video games a bad mix?

Well let me show you.

The original:

The meme version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBi-nsKzipE

See why its a bad mix now (Its just way to corny and imho just seems way out of character).

Okay, I get it, PSAs are too corny nowadays.

A Star Fox cartoon should still have quite a lot of comic relief shouldn't it?

I think in order to save the series they must go dark with SF. Screw the kids  :P (sonic meme pun lol)

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking. It worked for Redwall, it worked for Silverwing, it worked for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, all of which feature talking animals usually found in real life, but they were aimed almost totally for 13year old readers/viewers.

Star Fox should definitely be like Cowboy Bebop, except without the smoking, a lower level of sexuality, and almost as much hand-to-hand combat. Here's my summary for how the backgrounds of certain main characters would be to make the show dark enough:

Fox: His father's death depicted as being pierced on a bed of spikes.

Falco: Grew up in a gritty gang infested neighborhood.

Krystal: Witnesses her parents' deaths constantly in her nightmares. Most of them end with Andross's skeletal hand reaching for her. Believes she is the last of her species, as do the Krazoa, but they might be wrong.

Slippy: Nothing at all. Just make his voice deeper, and serve as comic relief.

Peppy: Witnessed James' death on the spike bed.

ROB: Nothing.

Wolf: His father killed his mother in drunkenness, so Wolf shot his father. Spent the next 10 years in Juvenile Hall, grew more and more violent. Gets out and becomes a feared mercenary.

Leon: Driven insane by Wolf's violent behavior.

Panther: Just some homeless guy living on the streets of Corneria City before joining Star Wolf.

Oikonny: Flips out over Andross getting killed twice.

Pigma: Parts of him amputated or gouged out several times, until he finally gets killed as Aparoid Pigma.

Andross: Wanders the universe as a disembodied spirit after he's killed for good.

Do you think the story for events in certain Star Fox games should be slightly altered to keep it fresh? Well, maybe only a little, just to keep it faithful to the story. They should probably do a story for season 2 or 3 which is the same as Star Fox Adventures, but Krystal isn't captured, we learn more about her past, and she meets up with Fox and Tricky later on. That's how it should have been from the start!!  :P Sometimes it annoys me that the story went that originally.

James dies on a spike bed. Yes, that makes sense. That makes a ton of sense. They CATCH HIS ARWING, land it, take him out of it, and force him onto a bed of spikes, instead of shooting him down. Yes. Brilliant.

:/

Stop trying to make Star Fox something it's not. It's not Transformers. It's not Cowboy Bebop. It's Star Fox, and it doesn't need to try to be anything else.

If it isn't a fresh story, we won't be able to attract new fans. I don't want Star Fox the anime to be canceled after only 26 episodes, because it's too short. If it'll get it to you straight, here's the list I've come up with that a good Star Fox anime needs:

-Strong character development.

-Engaging episodic plots.

-Lots of space battles and a little bit of hand-to-hand combat.

-Good voice acting to match the characters.

-Villains you love and hate at the same time.

-A good mixture of darkness and comic mischief (No Puff, not for kids).

-Maybe a small amount of profanity. Just enough to keep it at a PG rating.

Now how about we start coming up with which studio to produce the series? Definitely not 4Kids because they suck so hard, DiC Entertainment wouldn't want the idea, Cartoon Network mostly shows teen anime rather than producing their own, Sunrise would try to mash Mobile Suit Gundam into this, well, guys, tell me who you think should do the show?

'Quoted for truth', as the kids say.

Personally, I think people should make what they want to make, or what they want to see. Trying to make things popular makes things bad most of time in my opinion.

Example that springs to mind is screw attack, that used to be a funny site about games. However, much of the talent left. The reason for this varies, but I think it had to do with the fact that they stopped making funny geek stuff for gamers, and instead tried to be as popular as possable. With hidden camera stunts and mexicas humping X-Boxs. Not suprising, the site pretty much died off , with only 1 guy left on the main team.

Okay, so Star Fox the anime should still have the same level of certain things, but I still wanna alter the story slightly to keep it fresh.

Hey! Maybe we could do the show?! Who`s with me?! :P

Bagsy? Is that a yes?

Well, I`d like to do the writing.

Which of us do you think would do the casting?

Bagsy?, first in, first pick, reserved for me. I believe americans call it dibbs, or something.

As for casting, don't think there would be many injuries or broken bones making a cartoon. :P

Btw, I assume you are not taking this seriously, as it is not something to decide on a whim. A fan project like this would be massive. Although 3D animate does get more efficiant the long it is. In a series format, it would be good as resources would accumilate over the series. Most likly though, people would get board during devolpment, and wander off.

Well, if that's the case, then bagsy the story writing.

And Sabre, i think I know someone who could help you in the animation department. DarkStory, as long as he doesn't implement a bunch of Krystal fan service scenes.

Who's gonna do the casting?

I have been in the creation of a series, i've been making to storyline so far, and over the course of making a storyline I've been looking for an animation program, it would take shorter, but ive been looking for a free one, I even have a mic for voice acting as well.

If alot of us from this site work together to create a series it could go well, since most of us have fan-fics, we can try to stick the stoy-lines of them together

Blender is good, and free, but some of the tutorials are out of date, and grasping the basics is the hardest bit. Worth it though.

I love animation, I can also rig. I can model (badly) if pushed, but I am useless with textures, and am still learning the advanced stuff. I also have a mic, so if you need a deep voiced, gruff villain, I'm, your baddy.

Krystal fan service? As in knickers? Wouldn't that kill the serious character? Anytime Krystal is on screen, that's fan service enough for me. (Goes on krystal rant) Also wolf.

My current projects are porting the Krystal model to blender, (which has hit a snag, but is otherwise grand.) and I am also working on my own show 200FC. A furry sci-fi adventure. Bit adult though, but that's the way I roll. I'll let you know how it turns out. Also, when the tools are available, I plan to do some animation work for mod or 2 I really like. (DoW40k: FoK and Jurassic Life respectively)

If we ever did make a fan show, I think we should go for mid poly models, with full fur and physic effects. They are not to hard to do, and look great for not much work. The mid level poly is so we could keep a look close to the games.

Music would probley come from the games mostly.

Yeah, sometimes I'm proud of the fanfics I've done. Some are light hearted, some are much darker.

This is still my dream cast, and character summary for the Star Fox animated series:

Fox McCloud (David Kaye): Main hero of the series, and leader of Star Fox. Fox is the son of the late James McCloud, leader of the original Star Fox, who was betrayed by a teammate, and killed in battle, so Fox forms a new Star Fox team to take down Andross, free the Lylat System, and avenge his father. Fox falls in love with Star Fox's beautiful new recruit, Krystal.

Falco Lombardi (Maurice LaMarche): Star Fox's arrogant sharpshooter. Falco often targets larger, stronger enemies in battle, which often gets him in trouble. Most of the time argues with Star Fox's timid mechanic, Slippy Toad.

Peppy Hare (Jeff Glenn Bennett): Fox's adopted father. Peppy was a member of the original Star Fox team led by Fox's father. Often shares his old war stories, and gives helpful hints to the other members of the team, which makes Peppy highly valued overall.

Slippy Toad (Dan Gilzevaan): Slippy is the Star Fox team's timid, yet lovable technician. He is much more suited to repair work and ground combat than he is flying an Arwing. Slippy and Fox have been best friends ever since kindergarten, and they went to flight school together.

ROB 64 (Michael Dorn): ROB is the robot handyman that operates the Great Fox, Star Fox's aircraft carrier/home base. ROB is in charge of managing supplies for the team, weather it's ammunition, spare ships, or fire arms. Sometimes ROB shares the team's frustration with Falco's arrogance and hotheaded-ness.

Krystal (Gwendoline Yeo): The sole survivor of the destroyed planet Cerinia. From birth, Krystal was raised by Randorn, a famous wizzard, and a good friend of her family. After Randorn was interrogated and killed by Venomian soldiers, Krystal started living on her own, and searching the cosmos for any other surviving Cerinians, fearing she is the only one left.

General Pepper (Peter Cullen): Leader of the Cornerian Armed Forces, and Star Fox's primary source for missions. Sometimes scolds Falco for the cocky bird's arrogance. Pepper was able to exile Andross to the planetary wasteland of Venom, which he now regrets and is ashamed of.

Beltino Toad (Frank Welker): Slippy's father, and the Cornerian Amry's research director. Beltino is the one responsible for designing many of Star Fox's weapons, ranging from the Arwing to the Blue Marine. It was Beltino's decision to give Star Fox the Arwings, since they were under attack at the time.

Katt Monroe (Wendee Lee): Falco's ex-girlfriend who often annoys him. Katt and Falco grew up together in the same gritty neighborhood, and both were affected by poverty and street crime. Katt is sometimes a very big help to Star Fox on certain missions.

Amanda (Mellisa Fawn): Slippy's girlfriend. They met and fell in love at first sight, or so they say. Amanda wants Slippy to leave Star Fox so the two of them can settle down and have a family.

Lucy Hare (Susan Blu): Lucy is Peppy's tomboyish daughter who used to teach astrophysics on Fichina. Has her own star fighter called the Sky Bunny commissioned so she help defend Corneria against the Anglars. She doesn't plan on going back to her original teaching job.

Dash Bowman (Matt Hill): Andross's grandson, yet not an evil madman like his wicked elder. Dash enlists in the Cornerian Flight Academy, the same place where Fox learned how to become a pilot. He doesn't have any form of grudge against Star Fox, despite what they did to his grandfather.

Tricky (Barry Gordon): Prince of the Earthwalker tribe that rules the dinosaur inhabited Sauria. Tricky becomes a powerful part of Fox's mission on Sauria, in which he needs to reassemble the planet with it's powerful Spell Stones. After he grows up, Tricky becomes Sauria's king.

Wolf O'Donnell (Brian Dobson): Leader of Star Wolf, an evil rival squadron of Star Fox. Wolf is wanted on many planets for counts of murder and space piracy. Some say that Wolf was involved in the death of James McCloud, of whom he was a lethal rival of.

Leon Powalski (Rob Paulsen): Wolf's second in command of Star Wolf. Leon is perhaps even more insane and violent than his brutal commanding officer. Leon has a raging grudge against Star Fox member Falco Lombardi, often thinking himself better than him.

Pigma Dengar (Brad Garret): The one who betrayed James McCloud into enemy hands, back when he was a member of the original Star Fox. Pigma is perhaps the most money grubbing Lylatian there is, as his greed is what made him leave Star Fox, and eventually join Star Wolf. Pigma is horribly injured time and time again until he's infected by the Aparoids and killed.

Andrew Oikonny (Sam Vincent): Andrew is Andross's mad scientist nephew, and among the most notorious of Star Wolf. Andross had Oikonny join the Star Wolf squadrong because he found him annoying, and wanted to get rid of him. After Andross is killed, Oikonny seeks revenge on Corneria and Star Fox.

Panther Caroso (Dorian Harewood): The pilot who replaces Pigma as part of Star Wolf. Panther often tries to flirt with Krystal, but she always rejects him. Panther has an unhealthy fascination with red roses, and an over-obsession for attractive women.

Captain Shears (Gary Chalk): A traitorous member of the Cornerian Army. Shears operates on Titania to work on reviving Andross for conquest purposes. Shears engages in a fight with Fox, but is crushed under the weight of the newly awakened Andross.

General Scales (Jeff Glenn Bennett): Leader of the Sharpclaw tribe, an army of dinosaurs who want to overrun and control Sauria. Scales removes the 4 Spell Stones, causing chunks of Sauria to be ripped from it's surface. After Scales is defeated by Fox in hand-to-hand combat, he is mutinied by his own Sharpclaw soldiers.

Aparoid Queen (Wendee Lee): The source of all Aparoids, a species of monstrous insect creatures bent on assimilating the Lylat System. The Aparoid Queen believes that the Aparoids are the ultimate existence, and that galactic assimilation is the key to survival. Eventually, she is killed along with the rest of the Aparoids by Star Fox.

Anglar (Frank Welker): Leader of the Anglars, a race of fish like creatures seeking conquest of the Lylat System. Anglar thinks that his ancestors ruled the galaxy thousands of years ago, and wants to re-claim Lylat as revenge. Anglar engages Fox in a one on one dogfight in space, which Fox wins.

Andross (Frank Welker): The primary villain of the series, and Star Fox's arch-nemesis. Andross was once a brilliant scientist working for Cornerian Research and Development, but his lust for power drove him to the brink of madness. He was banished to Venom as a result, and from there formed an army of his own to destroy Lylat.

Yeah, just forget about the voices I listed if you want us to do the voices.

Well lets see, we could all throw the plots from our fan-fics, we can see which one wins the vote, then we could try to work together to make it.

It would go like this, The animator will create the animation, he can email to the people who will voice the characters, then post a project version on this site to test it, then make any final adjustments to it, and then we all just created a fan animation.

Animator usually does most of the animation after voice work, for lip sync and such like. Also, release the trailer only at incomplete stage, because otherwise people will know the ending, will lessen impact ect.

Well, which theme song do you think we should use for the series? Will it be the SNES Star Fox theme, or the Star Fox 64 version?

we could also try one of those anime like openings, i do have alot of anime songs on my computer, but it would be hard, since anime is liek the best drawn cartoon style, except for 3-d art of course

Well, there`s always the American anime style from Teen Titans, but I know some of you guys don`t like it. Who can I blame? It`s not that great.

We can still use CGI, as long as people don`t think we`re ripping off Shadow Raiders (It was CGI, and science fiction).

We could try music based off that of Robotech, and what a soundtrack.
