Ranger One
Hmmm... i'll start with favorite series, then list off specific games that those won't cover... Favorite Series: Star Wars (Duh!) Star Fox (Double Duh! lol) Star Trek (don't have all of the PC games that were released, but i've got a lot of them) Zelda (Sadly, i've only got the GC and N64 games that have been released, and the game boy titles, since i don't have an SNES) All 007 games (with the exception of the PC version of nightfire, the gamecube one was okay, but the PC one was awful, i should know, i have both.) Okay, now for specific games. Battlefield 1942 (and both expansions for it.) Homeworld (Awsome game, i still can't beat it, first time i've found a RTS/ladder game that i just can't beat.) Homeworld 2 (Awsome sequile to Homeworld, even if it was a bit easier, the graphics ROCK.) Super Smash Bros Melee Empire Earth (and the Art of Conquest Expansion. Yay! EE2 has launched! ) Age of Empiers (all versions)
salmon45
If you like those homeworld games you shoukd try the other sequel, Cataclysm. It is also good. Also a good similar game is Nexus the jupiter incident. Fun with sweet graphics and stuff. I beat Homeworld so I can tell you what to do if you want. Battlefield 1942 is cool too. You are a person of good tastes.

You are a person of good tastes. I've played Cataclysm. It's okay, but I didn't like it as much as the original. And I know what to do in Homeworld, i have the stratagey guide for it, but thanks for the offer My problem is i tend to salvage too many enemy ships (okay, okay, mabey i salvage whole FLEETS of enemy ships, lol), and then i can't build anything else. I think i had over 100 frigate class ships in my last game, and only 5 of them had been built. And i think the limit for Frigates is 50 in that game, mabey less. :D

Ranger One
wow that's amazing.I never thought someone could capture too many ships. Very funny. Well, i kinda took the stratagey guides suggestion of capturing certaint enemy ships a bit overboard. Where they suggested to try and capture one enemy Destroyer in that game, i went and grabbed both. Where they suggested grabbinb only a few of the Ion Array or multi beam frigates in that game, i managed to grab almost every single one. heck, i managed to capture a few fuel pods and a full group of advanced swarmers, rofl. Of course, since the enemy fleet groups are based a bit on the size of YOUR fleet (didn't learn that till recently) later levles became chaotic.
XG Fox
Hehehe... sounds like it... I SO want to play Homeworld, either one would be fine... I know the background and how everything works, but having a COM fleet based on the size of yours each time, and you just made yours huge? I'll keep that in mind when I play it... It must have been fun though!
Ranger One
lol, it is fun, i had to format recently, so i've reinstalled it and i'm playing both of them again. I can't reinstall cataclysm though, cause my brothers lost the CD key for it. (#!*$ IT!) In homeworld 2, i managed to capture Makahns Dreadnaught, its one heck of a massive ship (dwarfs even the battlecruisers in that game, and those things are huge) with a giant energy cannon that can kill a battleship even in 2 or 3 shots. You get one too before that mission, however. But having 2 of them at the end, plus Sajuk (an even BIGGER version of the dreadnaught, that thing can fire from halfway across a map! ) makes for a deadly combo against enemy ships. I managed to stop every planetkiller missle that was launched at Higgara at the end of homeworld 2 the last time i played it, i had ships running everywhere though, trying to keep the Vagyr(SP?) busy so they couldn't harass Sajuk, and having interceptors gunning down the missles that got past the corvett gunships, and having MORE interceptors stopping enemy fighters from shooting my corvetts down... dang, i think the map was one big battlefield at the end, lol. In the original, i can't get past the hyperspace inhibitors though, but i managed to salvage the entier defense fleet that was guarding it. No wonder there were so many enemy reinforcments, thats like 100 frigates and 10 heavy ships... BTW: Homeworld was also inspired by (yep, you guessed it) Star Wars, i managed to find the ending credits for the original Homeworld without winning the game, and watched them, and it gave credit to George Lucas for creating Star Wars, which was an inspiration for that game. Hmm... go figure, the Taidanii carrier in the original always made me think of a Star Destroyer anyways.

And not everything was influenced by Star Wars, lol, i know i can one sci-fi genera that wasn't. But yeah, a lot of stuff was, lol. Too bad SWG had to bomb and give Star Wars a bad name on the MMO market. Curse SOE for wanting to see how much money they could squeez out of customers.

Ranger One
SWG? MMO? SOE? WTF? okay..... Don't blame me for this, you wanted to know what i was talking about, and i tend to get worked up a bit over this subject: SWG stands for Star Wars Galaxies. It was an MMORPG (Masivley Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) created by LucasArts and Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) over 2 years ago. When it launched, it was the best MMORPG on the market, and could easily still be in that spot, even with games like Lord of the Rings online, Star Trek Online, World of Warcraft, and GuildWars comming out or having launched (S-T-O (just guess which one of those games i listed that stands for) isn't comming for a while, but its the only one i saw at first as giving SWG some REAL competition.) Then SOE didn't add content. THEN when they finnaly did, they only added a little. THEN they stoped so they could add JEDI to the game, the biggest mistake they ever made. Jedi have KILLED SWG. Everyone wants one. Those who don't have one, hate those who do most of the time. Those who hate jedi become Bounty hunters to KILL jedi. Then both groups flame, bash, and grief (harrass, ect.) each other. THEN SOE made it HARDER to become a JEDI. THEN they made jedi STRONGER than they already were. THEN they took out permanent death for jedi. That took the limit on jedi out, there was no longer a penalty to being a jedi, and it's a god-like class. The XP penalty that's been put in is a joke. THEN the combat upgrade, which had been pushed back for almost a year for this, got pushed back AGAIN so they could create Jump To Lightspeed, the space expansion for the game. Jump to lightspeed lasted about... one month, then everyone was bored again. It didn't do much better than the ground game has. Finnaly, SOE starts the combat upgrade to fix ground based combat in the game. AT THE LAST SECOND, SOE SCRAPED the system they'd shown to their forum coorespondants, who are also players, and COPPIED the EverQuest 2 system into Star Wars Galaxies. BUT: The system isn't compatible, so on Testcenter, it kept crashing over and over and over... longest play time on it I had was 2 minutes. Not fun. Guess what? THEY SENT IT TO THE LIVE SERVERS ANYWAYS. So... they just screwed all their current customers... Now the live servers won't run. (90% of the time they're down still). Then EP3 came out, and SOE launched the Rage of the Wookies expansion. That added Kashyyk (SP?) into the game. Guess what? its also as buggy as H-ll. And, as if beta testing for 2 YEARS (and PAYING TO DO IT NO LESS.), now players could look forward to beta testing for ANOTHER YEAR. AND PAYING TO DO IT. oh boy, what fun. And SOE tried to pass off the game as a totaly new one (basicly, it is, its more of a SWG2 than the original game.), but their newest add for it is the biggest piece of bullsh_t i've ever seen. It creates the illusion that its easy to become a jedi (HA!), that you can acctualy talk to Yoda (BS...), and that you can fly in the milenium Falcon with Han Solo and Chewie. You know what you CAN do in the current SWG? You can: A: Crash to Desktop. B: Crash to Desktop C: CDT (Acronym for Crash to Desktop) D: Crash your whole computer. E: If you somehow get the game to play for more than 10 mintues, you can get harrased by the CSRs (Customer Service Reps). EXCUSE ME??? HARRASED BY THE PEOPLE WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO BE HELPING YOU FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE GAME??? And you know what else? A new player can buy The original SWG, the JTLS (Jump to Light Speed) expansion, and the ROTW (Rage of the Wookies) exansion, all for... $30. You know how much it'd cost me, a veteran of the game, who's been willing to stick out this much Sh_t from sony for 2 years, to get just Rage of the Wookies? $30. It cost me $30 to get JTLS, and $60 to get SWG to begin with! I droped the game recently, and I don't plan to go back to it for a while: Let them fix all the sh_t they've created in it if they can. I doubt it though, i get the feeling that its going to go under. Normaly, i'd have felt bad about that, but after seeing all the Bullsh_t SOE has just put out with their false advertising and everything, you know what i say?: SOE and SWG can go to Hell for all I care. End of story. *Lets out a deep breath* Okay, sorry about that, but I REALLY tend to get worked up over that topic, after 2 years, 2 D-mn YEARS of putting up with all of that, i'm really PO'ed with SOE still. Ranger One
Yeah, I know, that was a pretty big post, and i kinda got worked up about it... but trust me, after having to put up with that kind of stuff for 2 years in a StarFox MMO, if Nintendo ever made one, I bet you'd probably feel the same way. I never really play MMOs because they are way to time cosuming. I tried Linage once and got killed by other players every 5 seconds. I play diablo2 once in a while though. Ranger One
Wow. You really must not like that game. Good story. If you're refering to my post on SWG... don't get me wrong, i still kinda liked that game. it was farily good up untill about a year and a half ago, when SOE added jedi. I just don't like Sony. Get this. I've got even more reasons to Hate SOE now. In the latest interview with the Sony Development team for SWG, they admited that there had been some hostility over the new changes. However, they also said that once they'd added in double xp gain for a few days, players tried out the Combat Upgrade, and most came to like it. Bullsh_t. I checked the SWG forums, all of the servers were DOWN during the days they had doubled XP. when they came back UP, SOE REMOVED it. And the real reason they added it was because they messed up with Jedi experience, so doing that fixed that in the short term till a patch adressed that issue. When the patch went in, the bonus xp went out. And it gets better. SOE has even said that most players now LOVE the new Combat Upgrade. If you only count the 10 people and their alternate accounts who've praised the game recently, then yeah, i guess that could be true. And it gets even BETTER still. When asked if the CU (Combat Upgrade) had hurt the number of subscriptions to SWG, SOE came back and said that they had acctualy GAINED customers from this. That's the biggest load of sh_t i've ever heard about SWG. The ONLY reason SOE can claim they havent lost customers is because, when someone cancels their account, SOE will NOT wipe it. Then they use just the number of accounts that have been created for that game, and give THAT number to their stockholders (yep, they're scamming stockholders with this too no doubt, why else are they trying to cover so much up?), creating the apperance that there are lots of players in the game. The biggest server, Bria, once had a population so high on it that the whole server would lag at times, and even crash, due to the shere number of players online. Now, its one of the LIGHTEST servers in the game. The server I played on, Naritus, managed to make it to a rating of medium. its now sparse, there's so few people left on it. As if I needed more reasons to never buy another product from Sony, or to ever TRUST anything I ever hear about Sony. I'm amazed sometimes those idiots at SOE even know how to breath, with all the stupid stuff they try to pull...
