Reggie Says Big Surprises Coming At E3! Is one of them Star Fox Wii?

Wondering why we really don't know about any big titles coming to the Wii or DS beyond the summer? Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aime has explained that this is because Nintendo are keeping all their titles for the second half of this year under-wraps until this year's E3 in July.

"See, that's why you need to go to E3 this year ... We’re gonna unveil the whole second half. I mean come on there’s more than enough to get people excited. We’re gonna have great new content maximizing all of our key franchises. It’s gonna be a good second half. There’s gonna be a big game for the holidays that the gamers will want."

And Reggie was unfortunately not revealing much more than that:

"All I can tell you is what we announce during E3 is going to be fantastic. The gamer’s gonna be excited, and the expanded audience is going to be excited. We’re gonna have a ton of great content."

There was an article on IGN recently talking about how Factor 5, the makers of the Star Wars Rouge Squadron series (a very awesome series) that they will be making a new title for the Wii, and the left us hanging at the end by saying,

"In terms of what we're working on; is it for third-party publishers, is it for a Nintendo first-party, what title is it? I won't give you a clue."

This is very interesting thing as they also said in the article that they wanted to work on a flying game, A FLYING GAME. This could mean that they are working on a Star Fox game. Now this is just a rumor so don't everybody go crazy. There are also rumors that they could be working on the fabled Kid Icarus Wii Title. I hope its Star Fox, but I will be equally happy if it is Kid Icarus.

So opens the Flood Gates for rumors and hype.

So long as it isn't another Star Wars title. The Rogue Squadron series was great but I think we've had plenty of those. It would be awesome if they worked on Star Fox. Factor 5 really knew how to sap the N64 and the Gamecube to get the most out of both systems. I can hardly wait to see how they use the juice that the Wii has under its white hood.

I'm hoping for Starfox, F-Zero, and possably a new game based on that project mallet that never got released.

I hope there are some new FPSs in there, and not loads of remakes of crap, like animal crossing or pokemon.

To repeat my response to this on aL:

Star Fox Wii is like 97.5% confirmed at this point, what with everything in Brawl and all the vague referances that seem to be made by Nintendo talking about flying games and whatnot.

I'm also expecting another Animal Crossing and Pikmin 3, and probably some new Zelda and Mario games (surprise surprise). Maybe Pokemon. Maybe. Hopefully not, but still.

Also, they never said this upcoming "content" was restricted to just being games, eh? So we might see some info on the Animal Crossing movie, and if my fantasies really do come true, a Star Fox movie/show =D

(...really, it's like one of two main Nintendo franchises that have NEVER been made into either, when it would work better as one more than any of the ones they've tried. No "excuuuuuse meeee, princess" risk-factor here.)

Well excuuuse me Krystal. :P

As for confirmed-ness. Imo, there is confirmed, unconfirmed and leaked. Hints and clues don't really matter as it is speculation, and nothing more. I'll hedge my bets till E3.

Well, if the game promises an epic story line, my wallet will stop spending and save for a Wii. I am really curious as to what will happen to krystal.kursed. If they dont mention her at all in the game then I will not buy it.

Yeah, I'm curious too about Krystal, mostly to what happened to her family, and her home planet. Well, it could be like I said before in an earlier thread. Yes Cerinia was destroyed, but it turns out that it was indeed Andross that did it, at least 30% of the planet's population escaped, including Krystal's parents, and Andross is trying to enslave them into serving his army, so that's why they're hiding, and moving from place to place. If that's the case, then it would turn into a story which involves Star Fox saving them, defeating Andross (As usual), and the survivors of Cerinia are able to find a new home, in the form of a lively region on Sauria. It would be cool if it turned out that Saurian originated as the same language as the Cerinian people, and the dinosaurs on Sauria picked up the language a couple thousand years ago when Cerinian explorers came.

You know what I think would be a great addition to the gameplay of the original Star Fox? Just in case it's in the next game, before you go out on missions, you can choose which weapons and stuff to put on your ship. Another interesting aspect they'd need is 2-player co-op, in both all-range, and on-rail missions (This is something I think they did for Lego Star Wars). There should also be missiles you can collect for your ship to use. I wanna see the first-person view return for flight missions. Especially have Krystal back on the team, if not enforce her romantic relationship with Fox.

There should also be a new member of Star Wolf. Someone who'd be usually considered villainous, like a bat, a vulture, or a toad, and he's Slippy's evil counterpart. Star Wolf also needs their own answer to Star Fox's Landmaster. An even meaner looking tank, and it has an evil name, like Death Hound, or Dark Gunner.

I hope they have a new baddy, and starwolf go back to being evil, I love em, but they really should stop helping each other now.

One twist I didn't see coming before was slippy getting a girl. I really never expected it, and applaud it. I want to see more of them in the next starfox.

Co-op, yes, as for the custom stuff... hmm, maybe. Hopfully more in air action, and fixed on foot sections.

Well, it could be worse. At least Nintendo isn't planning on making a secondary storyline for the series, and re-aim it at young children. It would get a bunch of crap like:

-James isn't dead. He's Fox's living father, and also his flight instructor (Kinda like the relationship between Josh and his father in Team Galaxy).

-Fox tries to flirt with Krystal on occasion, but she gets sassy and rejects him (Wait, that would actually be really funny)

-Peppy would be around the same age as the rest of the team.

-ROB would act like C-3PO (Gimme a break).

-Andross would be a wannabe of Sonic's Dr. Eggman, but a little bit meaner.

-A whole bunch of other crap, the list would go on forever, we shouldn't let something like that happen.  :P

Well, the new villains idea would be something Nintendo has probably been considering for the series. They've already had apes and lizards, dinosaurs, assimilative insect freaks, and guys who remind me of the Plutarkians from Biker Mice from Mars. Maybe the next style of villains for the series would be simply space pirates banding together. Maybe Wolf will rise up and take Andross's place. Star Fox could deal with an army of plant-like aliens, and hopefully their name wouldn't start with an "A" (Thank you very much Dr. Andross, Aparoid Queen, and Emperor Anglar).

Another reason for the so-called death of Krystal's people would be......THEY'RE IN HER STAFF! Before the planet was destroyed, through magic they were stored in the tip of her staff, but Krystal didn't have the chance to find out. How the staff would be able to have all it's fire shooting and earthquake making powers, without releasing the occupants too soon, I have no clue. I pretty much got the idea from an episode of Superfriends.

I read a review of mario kart wii, and apparently that had loads of changes, but was done well (no snaking abd bikes that work). The same magazine wanted punch out to be revived. Although the starfox fan/s in the mag claimed the only good one was Lylat wars (starfox 64 for the american posters), which I disagree with.

Acording to the mag, it should be like the Wario Ware and Smash Bros mini games. I disagree again, because A- Ive not played brawl yet, and B- The wario ware game was awkward. Then again, Im the nutter that thinks SF64 was better looking then the adventures flying levels.

Personaly, Id want a revamped on foot game, and more flying in the single player. (from assault)

The magazine was nintendo official magazine UK April 2008 btw for those who want to read the articles.

Basicly, a perfected version of assault with an updated storyline and online play right?

I'm not a fan of online games to be honest. I prefer good local multiplayer.

Only CoD4 and Dystopia have been good online imo.

I like Assault, its one of my favorites, *bricked*  but I wouldn't want just a revived version of it, I would want it to have something from all the Star Fox games. (Except Command)

Like more on-rail Landmaster and Arwing levels like in 64, melee weapon combat like in Adventures, and on foot shooter levels like in Assault, except you can toggle between first person and third person views.

I hope it's coming soon. Star Fox is reaching a critical mass of lack of titles. Then again, a Metroid game never even appeared on the N64 and look where that series is now.

Yeah, maybe Fox could use beam swords, like from Smash Bros. (Hopefully it wouldn't be considered ripping off Star Wars light sabers, thank you very much George Lucas). I still want a side plot that involves Krystal finally knowing about her past, and that her parents, and some of the Cerinian people are still alive.

I think melee levels would be a disaster. Krystals staffs long range attacks are to weak to be compairable to blaster fire.

Well they might not even make a starfox wii game think about it metroid never made it to the N64, but its still popular and went into the next system that might go for starfox, they might just make a starfox for a different system, al we can do now is wait for shadows of lylat, and play that untill nintendo decides to make their own starfox game, instead of depending on a few guys making a computer version of it.

Metroid not being on the N64 is a little different than this.

Both Metroid and Star Fox were "revived" for the Gamecube, and I doubt they're going to "die" again. I fully expect both franchises to have at least one game for the Wii.

The only plausible reason I can think of their not being a Metroid game for the N64 was because its creator Gunpei Yokoi died and I'm pretty sure it wasn't to popular in Japan to warrant a sequal during that time. Anyways I'm personally hoping for a StarFox Wii game that is more like the N64 game with a tiny bit of the on foot stuff (maybe like two missions and polish up the controls for those sessions a bit) and a more fleshed out Multiplayer mode.

See, on-foot missions would be fun if they had any sense of actual physics, not to mention a more creative objective. Remember on Fortuna in Star Fox 64, when Fox goes into the base to disarm the bomb? Think of missions like that, only playable...

Yeah, thats exactly what I thought Assault's missions would be like before it came out.
