Star Fox Runner
I always believed that the original theme song from the first Star Fox game would have been a better one to use throughout the series. I love the theme song from Star Fox 64, don't get me wrong, both are very pleasing to the ear, but I personally like the original one better. What do you guys think? For those of you who haven't heard the original one before, I'll post the orchestrated version of the original, and an orchestrated version of the SF64 song. Rapidfire
'Tis very hard to select one over the other. Hirasawa's version (StarFox) conveyed a sense of science fiction glory. The version made by Kondo and Wakai (StarFox 64) was more martial, which fit the tone of the series every bit as well as Hirasawa's. I can say that while both are remarkable pieces of work, I do wish more of the music written by Hirasawa would be used from time to time in the series. We caught a break with a few tracks in the Smash Bros. series but the original Corneria was simply par excellence. The 64 score has been done over enough to merit some generosity toward Hirasawa's score.
Leon_279
I like the 64 theme better. Probably because it was the first one I heard. :P
DZComposer
SF64's theme is one of Kondo's weakest themes (Wakai did BGMs, Kondo did cutscenes/themes). Many of his scores use the main theme in different ways. The SF64 theme isn't as malleable as others. Hirasawa's theme, on the other hand, can be easily changed into other styles. Plus, I like Hirasawa's non-melody parts better.
Leon_279
Hirasawa's theme, on the other hand, can be easily changed into other styles. I'm afraid......I disagree. (gasp!) The 64 theme can EASILY be changed to different genres of music. It's already been done a few times. Adventures introduced a jungle like version of the theme, and Assault introduced a disco like version, and they both sound reasonably great. Try doing that with Hirasawa's theme. It wouldn't sound too cool, would it. Besides, Hirasawa's theme doesn't have an edgy feel to it. It could never make Star Fox look like bad asses. :leon:
Mr. Krystal
Cool as the techno-like original theme (SNES) was, I liked the more epic feel of the 64 one.

They were the theme with a beat under them. You can do that to anything. Plus, I never said you couldn't play with it, it's just SNES can be done moreso. I'll have to "show" you, so give me a little time to put some examples together. If you want, check out the score to Super Mario 64 for an example of Kondo's more malleable themes. "Slider" is the theme, and most level BGMs are variations on it.
Four-eyed Vulpine
I'm going to have to declare a tie. The Star Fox theme is awesome as an opening theme. The Star Fox 64 theme is awesome as a recurring theme. So in that case, I can't really chose a favorite.
