People have been predicting the end of the world since it started. They've never been right thus far, so there's no reason to believe that they will be right in 2012.

Also, a few years ago, all of our computers' clocks ended at December 31st, 1999 at 11:59 PM. Does that mean it was the end of the world? No, it just means that that's when the programming of the time system stopped working. The Mayan calendar is no different.

I agree with Dwight, no one will know when the end of the world is, it could happen any time. All you got to do is live as best as you can and not go on living in fear.

2012 is the year of the London olypics. Chaos, but probley not the end of the world. (wonder if the torch will be attacked in China then?)

Of course, just because you can't predict when the world is going to end doesn't mean that the world is NEVER going to end.  All things have ends, even existence.  It could happen in the next second or a billion years from now.

if people always "predict" the end of days,is this because they whant this to happen? The only things i know is that will happen when it will happen.

The end of the world was also said to happen in the year of 2036.

I agree. My point is that no-one can predict it.

or maybe only the guy going to drop a super thermonuclear bomb on the Earth xD

It could be argued that the "monster built to serve man" is the atomic bomb. About 30 years ago there was a possibility of the worldwide destruction by nuclear war.

But, that is a generalization of a vague statement. People say that Nostradamus predicted every major world event, but in actuality he wrote a whole lot of very very vague and weird stuff that could mean anything. Some of the so-called predictions were even taken out of context.

To my knowledge, there is current no large threat to the entire global population right now. Some say there could be an asteroid, but the chances are very slim. The rock would have to be on a very specific trajectory.

Most of the end-of-days theories are just plain bullshit.

Nostradamus used alot of tricks still used today. Another problem is when people claim he speak fiurativly and you can swap letters around, in which case this very paragraph or forum topic could be used in hindsight as a majour event preditor.

But why does it matter when the world ends?  It ends when it ends.  I prefer to live life without knowing the earth's deadline, anyway.  It's a lot less stressful.

Thermonuclear bombs are not nearly as powerful as people think they are.

A 10.0 magnitude earthquake is the equivalent of one trillion tons of TNT, which is also the equivalent of a 2-km meteorite striking the earth at 25 km/s.  And even THAT won't blow the earth up.

Now, can you imagine a TRILLION TONS of TNT?

i forgot to say two things last time.i re-watch it(i record it)and they say that a program(t-bot or something(i can't hear really good the name))was create to the people who don't want to lost time with their bills(and for looking for the budget of the world(auction of all the enterprisde in the world or something))predict this too plus the inclination of the earth move and it could be a reason for  the destruction of humain race(sorry for being so vague but i record it on a old tape(casset if you prefer(before the *****DVD this was good but right now its dum)

AACK!!

I think the world will end like it says in the Bible: the world will envelope in a sea of lava, and all of God's followers will go with him to heaven, while the other people die in the lava, and go to brutally bloody hell for all of ETERNITY!!!!!!! D:<

I think the world will end by the disapearing of the universe

The universe cant just disappear. You know how big it is? There's probably 7172386357234411083502729823789237762992378376252158356128619028302726474562912028261291278298716128362383638761826812678262872827263837273782738837782719010108692362947820278202823027117474719738941238974978162878127929

Galaxies in the universe, and you know how long it would take to travel to each galaxy? 57-billion years, at the speed of light! That's the fastest possible speed, and it STILL would take 57-billion years! Just think of how long it would take to get to a galaxy at a normal speed. Pretty long!

My point is, this universe ain't goin' no where.

What I meant was that at probably 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 billion years form now, the universe will shrink, and that 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 billion years later, it will be so small it wouldn't be immaginable

Actually, you might want to pick a smaller number.  Assuming the known universe is a cube, and the farthest we've detected is about 13 billion light years out, the known universe has a volume of about 1.7576 x 1031 cubic light years.  So, with that number of galaxies, what is the galactic density?

According to my calculations, about 4.1 x 10188 galaxies per cubic light year.  And just the Milky Way galaxy is about 100,000 light years across.
