Now it's time to replecate the myth. Probley by using loads of explosives in some way.

lol I've already changed my site to reflect this new info. I don't know how you would replicate it besides storming Nintendo and making them sign a paper claiming that as her name.

I still think she needs a last name.

Until there a canon name, I say we call her Krystal mc Sauage fingers.

Nicely done, and I shall dub her the name SmityWeberJaguarmenjenson.

But seriously, no.

I did send Nintendo an email about Krystal's last name. They were less than helpful, but basically explained that she probably won't have a last name for the foreseeable future:

My email:

It has recently come to light that several French websites, including the French-language section of Wikipedia, have a last name for Krystal, the blue fox girl from the Star Fox series of games. In America, and all other parts of the world, so far as I can tell, she does not have an official last name: Buranetto. I was wondering if you could contact your French counterparts about the validity of this potentially canonical fact for French gamers. I have no access to French games or have any French friends, so I can't confirm or deny this myself. Any information is appreciated!

Their response:

I'm afraid we don't have an answer to your question about Krystal in Star Fox.  However, Nintendo excels at making sure our fans can get back story information, character descriptions, and--most importantly--the information they require to complete the games that we publish. This can happen through our website (www.nintendo.com), Player's Guides, and Nintendo Power magazine.

Having said that, many details about our games will remain mysteries, left to the active imagination of the player.

Sincerely,

Mike Chandler

Nintendo of America Inc.

And this kind of thing is why I respect you so much.

Gotta love form letters, though.

Nintendo really don't care about plot holes, they only care about tech support and money.

Its just Krystal, like Sher

That's how it will always be unless she marries someone. Why not just McCloud? Makes it believable if she is married to Fox in of most of the popular Fan-fics read in fanfiction.net.

that is a quote

:( way to go Nintendo way to step up to the plate on that one

idk smith? or maybe something really exotic idk and without Nintendo's official word we have nothing

but then again there is the fairly reasonably assumption that by the end of the series it will be McCloud...

or Caroso lolz

If weve learned anything, its that nintendo is a bunch of money grabbing idiots and will only do anything for cash :fox: but in some socities, people dont have last names, my guess is that Krystal dosent have one because Cernia dosent do last names, so really im not sure she needs a fan made-up one. In my upcomming fan-fic,  O_o has no last name even though theyre from a somewhat futuristic society (even though buildings float and there is a large ring that goes all the way around the planet with guns basically glued to it :/......it was just a quick back story ok!?!!?!?!?!?!?

Woah... check out how far this thread went, especially with the notion I introduced so many months back! I never claimed that Nintendo of France had officially introduced Krystal with a last name, however, with so many different sources outside Nintendo seemingly accepting it as true it seemed very possible that Buranetto could be Krystal's last name as the French alone introduced. There is still a possiblity there is something to this "Buranetto" name. The manual Z!FF scanned is a strong evidence, but not proof. Gaming manuals always tended to have much less info than the game itself.

(Mind you, this may not reflect the opinions of Nintendo of Canada at all, as they usually follow whatever Nintendo of America introduced.)

By the way, I wanna clarify on the origins of Mario that was discussed many pages back, even though that discussion was very off-topic.

First of all, Mario first appeared in a 1980 arcade game called Donkey Kong. In that game, he was supposed to scale a construction site to save his [then-]girlfriend Pauline from a gorilla named Donkey Kong, who's the grandfather of today's Donkey Kong. The old Donkey Kong is known today as Cranky Kong, and has a son called Donkey Kong Jr., which makes today's Donkey Kong unofficially known as Donkey Kong III! By the way, Pauline is not a princess; she's an ordinary woman. Despite this, Pauline is the original damsel-in-distress, even before Princess Peach.

When the game Donkey Kong was first released in Japan, Nintendo called the hero of the game as "Jumpman". It wasn't until the game was imported in the U.S. that Nintendo changed his name to Mario, because the character looked a lot like the landlord of their American premises at the time. The name was later adopted in Japan, and used it in the sequel game Donkey Kong Junior.

By the way, Pauline did return later in a much newer game. She appeared in the 2006 Nintendo DS puzzle game Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis. However, she was only Mario's friend, as it seems they were forced to seperate ways when Mario decided to leave Brooklyn and live in the Mushroom Kingdom, as per the American canon, at least.

(In the Japanese canon, on the other hand, Mario was ALWAYS was a citizen of the Mushroom Kingdom!)

I always just assumed her last name was Fox... That way when Krystal and Fox got married, and Krystal put her foot down and kept her last name, Fox would be Fox Fox. :D

it doesn't work that way in that Case Krystal would be Krystal Fox and Fox would still be Fox Mccloud.

It's proof enough for most people.

Z!FF had the manual and apparently the game, and he had never heard of it. The original Wikipedia article had no source. There's no other known source. Nintendo of America denied she had a last name at all.

So.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. The "Krystal's last name is Buranetto" claim has no evidence anymore. I would urge you to find some evidence. Until then, we can't assume it is true because of the lack of falsehood confirmation. (That is, we don't have to prove it isn't her last name, you have to prove it is, because you made the claim.)
