I haven't played Lylat Wars or Starwing yet ;_; (PAL Names suck)

I hope Starwing gets put on the virtual console and I'm waiting to get Lylat Wars because I've got a bit of a dilemma at the moment so I can wait for a bit.

Plus I've got other games to play too lol.

But out of the recent games I like Assault most. I really enjoyed it and it didn't have silly multiple endings that made me feel bad for Krystal or Fox.

May I recomend getting the 64 one on emulator instead? The reason being is that you can get rumble on an emulator, but not on VC, given that it broke new ground with rumble packs, and is still one of best feeling games, it''s worth it if you hae a PC that can run 64 emulators.

The added bonus is the biggest complaint with Lylat wars was the lack of a save feature, but most emulators have a save state option.

Aren't they illegal though? :/

And how would you get rumble on a PC?

I didn't know there was no save feature though?! Is it like old school platformers then, you have to keep it on if you want to leave it and go back to it or else you have to do it all in one run?

Oh dear...

Because of how the VC works, you can "pause" the game at any point (outside a level) and resume later.

Oh, I forgot about that. ._.

Well, I'll be buying it off VC sometime this year hopefully. I played the demo on Brawl and it isn't too bad.

The controls are a bit iffy though, maybe that's just the Gamecube controller though, most N64 games were easier to play with the original control.

Most pads these days have rumble. The 360 pad works and that has rumble I believe.

As for legality, it's a gray area. Much like MP3s and Car CDs up until recently were technically illegal, but no one was ever arrested for having a MP3 player. Emulators are the same pretty much, in that in most cases it's games you can't buy anymore, or people archiving the ones they have. Case point; I have perfect dark, but my pads are well past it, making the game harder then it should be, and it was a hard game anyway.

The MP3 and CD thing were technicalities in Britain at least. They were classed as unauthorized copies, and thus piracy.

In America, CD players, MP3 players, and Emulators are all legal. However, game ROMs are illegal, always, unless distributed by the original manufacturer (aka the Virtual Console). The reason is that the Millennium Copyright Law says that any electronic medium that is protected by an anti-copy device cannot be legally copied, even for personal use. This overarches the "backup" clause. Since video games are distributed in a proprietary format, and additionally have other copy-protection measures in place, it is illegal to make or possess ROMs.

Not saying I completely agree with this, but that's the law.

But I doubt you will have the swat team at your door over it though.

Not a good reason to break the law either.

The only ROM I have is Star Fox 2, and that was to see how good the game could have been.

Would having a ROM of that particular game be illegal? Since the game got canned it wouldn't be of any value to Nintendo would it, unless it was re-released on the VC, which is highly doubtful.

Even if it had no value to Nintendo (though it has several million dollar's worth, even today), it would still be illegal. Intellectual property rights are not based on how much money a person could potentially make from it, but rather, WHEN they originally got it, and under what conditions. After that, it is a set time period before it becomes legal, unless some of the more interesting parts of copyright law come into play.

3 way tie between Adventures, Star Fox 64, and Star Fox. I didn't like Assault, and Command was just okay.

This isn't really a poll. Plus, it's a little bit old (though not quite enough to be a dredge).

For future reference, please use the poll function. You can do this using the "New Poll" button next to the "New Topic" button.

You can also add one after posting by hitting the "add poll" button.
