Secondly, the idea that it's always the translators making a hash of it rarely stands up. Only if it needs the context of the culture or previous works (akira) then it could be argued we would never get it as intended. In mario superstar saga 2, the hammer bros had a hilarious western accent couldn't really be done in the west, and going aisian would have led to it being banned by the PC brigade. As a result they made them speak 1337. I have never played the games, but I have read the scene on the internet, and I think it probley is much better then the same in a silly voice. That said, the samuri pizza cats is famed for its lack of translation, and as a result is mostly ab lib. The cartoon was also cencored, and those are the 2 reasons why I would like to see the western version and a real sub/dub or the jap originals.
