Star Fox Runner
Many of you might not care, but I thought I'd bring this up. I was watching TV when a commercial for John McCain came on, the music they used for the commercial was a song from Medal of Honor European Assault. Anyone have any idea why they are using video game music for a presidential endorsement commercial? (I am pretty dang sure the song was from that game, I have it on my iPod.) Mr. Krystal
Some songs are used by multiple sources, or even the same types of samples are used to create new songs that sound almost identical. When using the same tools, it's not surprising you'll end up with the same thing by chance every once and a while. Also, for some things, like promos or ads, people just buy music that is pre-created to sound epic, or scary, or whatever.
Sabre
You also get specialists in this sort of thing, like X-ray Dog or ES Po-something-or-other. They make epic music for trailers and stuff, then sell it on. Sound effects also go this way. The sound of the time splitters appears in a number of shows. You also get ones known as 'standard snippets' which are bits of music commonly used because of copyright law or something. There's a song called american dream that appears on alot of doctor shows for example. and Medal of Honour was pprobley chosen because there music is always sappy and overly patriotic. As Yartzee said "Music so mornful you can almost see the tears streaming down the musicians faces."

I know for certain that it wasn't a rearranged sample clip because Medal of Honor is done by a full orchestra. McCain's people probably borrowed the rights to the music to make the commercial sound more moving and epic.
DZComposer
I haven't heard either piece, but I find it unlikely that they would source that game. It is likely canned music that is licensed for such commercials that is written in the same style with a similar harmonic and rhythmic structure. Provide me a source for both and I'll be able to tell you if they are the same for sure.
Star Fox Runner
All right then, I know for certain I am right about this, here are links to the commercial and the song used. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1OUxBvlLr0&feature=user http://dl1.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/dl/6584/5889d9/Medal%20Of%20Honor%20European%20Assault/03_-_casualties_of_war.mp3 They are exactly the same songs.
