Sabre
There were a few in the works. I don't any that were finished, and few were released. Current big hope is Kursed, a Half-Life 2 mod. Personally, I doubt it will ever get over the infamous mod 'hump', and then comes the question of if it would be worth playing. To find out that it would need to have a complete release, which puts us back at square 1. *sigh*
NS-Games
There is a major fan game in development right now for the PC. It's a Free Space 2 mod. It's called Star Fox: Shadows of Lylat.
Mr. Krystal
It might be, it might not. It depends on who develops it and what the target platform is.

Blink
I doubt Nintendo would promote anything other than their own consoles at this point in time. : However: Computers are the primary source of fan games, and there have been countless (yet impossible to find) attempts over the years, mostly 1945 mods (a Gamemaker tutorial game, 2d vertical shooter). Few prove promising, but a few years back I wrote about the 5 best ones I could find. AL is down atm (where the articles are) but the list went as follows:  :: Shadows of Lylat  :: Star Fox SanAndreas  :: Star Fox 3D  :: Star Fox Flotilla  :: Star Fox Dark Basic SoL is an active mod, but it has far too often claimed to be near completion only to never reach that goal. This has been going on for the past five years. I wouldn't expect it any time soon. >_<; SF San Andreas got canceled once the guy's PC bombed and he lost it all. Twice. The second one really ended the last of his motivation, especially when he couldn't get a new PC. SF 3d disappeared. SF Flotilla died, then got a spiritual successor about three years later in what is now the only finished 3d SF fan game. SF Dark Basic never got past alpha. Now though, there are a few new games that I haven't added to that list. May as well post them here: Tales of Corneria is the only finished 3d SF fan game, to my knowledge, and is a 20min-ish pure on-rails game. Some complain it's slow, but currently it's the best for quenching a SF PC need. imo. The awesome StarFox 2D (which is really accurate all around) The super fun Starfox 2D (which I highly recommend) The failure StarFox2D (>_> really, everything about this project fails/failed) So currently, mostly 2d, mostly incomplete. But hey, every now and then there's an exception, so keep your eyes peeled. :P
DZComposer
The reason for SoL being "near completion" for a while is mainly due to two things: 1. busy lives 2. SoL is asking the FS2 engine to do things it wasn't intended to do, so the SCP needs to catch up a bit. Plus, there was a change in direction of the game. It will be released in two parts. A prologue and the main game. Plus, the team got some new modelers. The stuff is looking a lot better. SoL will definitely be the best looking SF fangame out there. Things are moving, albeit slowly. If SoL dies, I would tell you guys right away. But that isn't going to happen. At least at this point. Disclaimer: I am a member of the SoL Dev Team. I am doing music for it. Sabre
I am a member of the SoL Dev Team. I am doing music for it. So, play with the sound off then. I assume the prolog will be open space missions, and the second part will include all the planet and rail levels?

Blink
I by no means meant to imply SoL was dying or dead, but expectations have been risen only to be struck down so many times that... well... It's like Brawl at this point. Sure, I was happy when it came out, but after all the delays, I really wasn't going to sit around and wait for it. If it comes out, great. If not, well, it's not surprising, that's what has happened in the past. So, to rephrase: With SoL, expect delays. The project is a much bigger undertaking than most people think.
