HavikFox
So I finally went to my first furry convention. It's funny, games like Sonic and Starfox where the reason I found it to begin with. It's funny how you trail away from your roots like that. Anybody else happen to go. Or for that matter, anyone here happen to be a fellow furry. I know there has to be a few; this is a Starfox site. Star Fox Runner
I'm a furry, but I don't go to Anthrocons, I keep it low key.
HavikFox
It's Anthrocon. Singular. The specific name of the furry convention. Yeah, I never really went to any before this one. Not so much that Ikept my furry side hidden but because I was never really old enough to go. Being 19 I thought it due time I finally go. Been a furry since I was 12 after all. I've been trying to be more open about it. Most people meet it all with misunderstanding. So how long you been into it? What's your fursona? Anyone else feel free to join the conversation. Me? I'm an arctic fox named Lucas. Kind of had a thing for foxes; always liked them. Still, I like to stand out and since foxes are so generic I thought I'd play it up as a white fox. That way I' still a fox only I've got a little unique taste about myself. "Lucas the Chainsawfox"
WolfBoy100
I'm also a furry too. ^^ My fursona is a wolf and is bit muscular. And no, I never went to any furry cons due to high gas prices and family situation (happened while I was at Hilton Head) so, I gotta to stay here. That'd be REALLY nice if I go to any furry cons. ^^ :panther:
HavikFox
Here's my character fighting off a horde of demons: It was in this story idea I had for him. Not cannon with the rest of his/my life but just an interesting concept I had. He has a dream where he is killed and wakes up in hell. I continued the whole story and not until the end do I come out and say it was just his dream. Normally, Lucas is in a more modern time period. But I was playing around wtih a Midevil look so I had to come up with the dream concept. This picture is his normal attire. This is an old as hell picture, way back when I was first coming up with the character. Note my signature chain saw in the hand: This one I drew while still at Anthrocon. Most recent picture I have but it was drawn 6 days ago after all: Con Badges of him from Anthrocon. Basically, You go to an artist for hire an commision them to do a badge. You just explain your character to them and in my case even show them a picture or other con badges if you really want to. I like it when the artist put their own twist on things, see how they think of him. The one artist who's work is show here, Regginho, added some wrist tatoos, while the other artist, who's name I can not seem to remember, gave Lucas a more depressing look:
WolfBoy100
HavikFox, you artworks are REALLY awesome. Your details are fantastic, man. I wish I can draw like that, but I'm too average. XD And oh, you got FurAffinity page? And yes, I know it's down due to server problem. :panther:

HavikFox
No, sadly I do not have a fur affinity page. However, I've been wondering about it. Never been to the site, only heard about it. I'll check it out. Come to think of it. I believe I went to the site to try and start up but it was experiencing technical problems so I never could. Eventually I forgot about it completely. I'll check it out though. I'm not on any furry sites really, but I want to try and get my stuff out there. A lot of wolves here it seems.
Mr. Krystal
Say it isn't so, one of the admins of the site is a furry! It's me. I don't share quite a few traits that most furries have, specifically, I have no fursona, nor do I think of myself as anything other than human. I only recently became a furry, sometime in 2003 or 2004. The main reason I became a furry was because of increasing interest in Star Fox and Krystal, and the amount of furry art and culture I was exposed to in the process of obtaining information. Furry can grow on you, hard as it is for some people to believe. I've never been to a furry convention, though I did hang out at a furry meet once at a local mall. Very low key. No-one would have known we were furries looking at us. There are a couple of furry conventions locally, so I might go to one next April, just to see what they are like. Sabre
I'm kinda sorta furry. Technicalities ect. No con go yet, if I do go I'll be sure to drink some um bong, just to make that joke worth while. There is a British con I wanted to go to, confuzzled, but no one was willing to go with me. They made the usual fob excuses. Thing is, some of those same people are now talking about going to the German con, which is weird. There's one at home, go to that one first? Weird. phantom6freak25
Hey kids. [i've missed this site... I haven't been on in like a year. >.<] but I'm a furry. My "other half" is a silver hawk named Fara. I think going to a con would be incredible, though I doubt my parents would even let me, seeing as how they don't understand the furry thing. They still don't know I'm into it. Haha! ^.^

Burn him in fire!!!!!!11!111 */waitwut* Well, anyway... I too share this trait of being intrigued in anthromorphs. I am 'furry' and prolly have been for quite some time. Mainly due to my interest in anthromorphs, also... Furry =/= Thinking they are something else. =P Those... are... 'special' people. Furry = interest in and enjoyment of anthros. Plus, a 'Fursona' (I never call my created chars that. =P, I prefer Original Characters, or OCs.) Is entirely optional. Feel free to hit me up via IM if you have any questions about anything related to this. No, sadly I do not have a fur affinity page. However, I've been wondering about it. FA is a decent place to start... just turn on the Mature Content filter on if you don't want to bump into other people's... strangeness. Besides, it's got a ton of clean art that, really, is quite gorgeous. Think like a DA that allows adult artwork. That isn't photographs. It's typically divided into two: Furry fans - People who like anthros. Furry lifestylers - People who are way into the furry thing. The problem occurs when you get towards the middle. There's no line you can draw. Are you a furry lifestyler if you have worn a fursuit? Maybe, but what if you were the school mascot? It's not all that clear. DZComposer
I like some of the art, but I am not really into the culture or any of that stuff. I don't have a character or anything. And personally, I find fursuits to be a wee bit creepy (No offense intended to anyone, BTW).
Dr. Wilopolis
Yeah, "Furry" refers to a wide spectrum of beliefs and interests for people. There's no line you can draw. Are you a furry lifestyler if you have worn a fursuit? Maybe, but what if you were the school mascot? It's not all that clear. To the first question: Yes, you can be a lifestyler, even without a fur suit. Second one: If you dress in a mascot outfit... you aren't necessarily in a fursuit. To DZ: Ja, even some FURRIES are a little weirded out by fursuits.
Sabre
but I am not really into the culture or any of that stuff. The gist of the culture at the moment seems to be pseudo celebrities, feeding trolls, and being elitist. When it's good it's great, when it's not things turn to the side of irritation. A world of extremes if you will. Currently at the bad extreme, hopfully it will pass.

HavikFox
Yeah, I'm not on here very often but I thought I'd reply. Furry is too broad to be given just one definition. But I think I've managed to pull it pretty close. In order for someone to be a Furry, in my opinion, they have to take an interest in anthropomorphic characters, non-humans with human qualities (i.e. A talking wolf), and they must enjoy this for of entertainment to the extent that they allow it to have a major impact on their life and are willing to single themselves out in this particulare group. To sum it up, you have to like furry characters, and you have to actually call yourself a furry first. Here's me with Floyd Norman at Anthrocon:
Mr. Krystal
In other words, you're a furry if you call yourself one :)
HavikFox
Pretty much. What furry is to everyone can very to real extremes. Some people, it's just a sex thing, but for some like me, it's got a much more personal meaning of who I feel I really am and all that. I am human no doubt, but it's fantasy. It's how I wish I was.
