MERGED: E3 Aftermath

I think you must be referring to the N64. It wasn't a single console that lead to the position Nintendo was in prior to the Wii. Nintendo stated that they intentionally made it hard to develop for the N64, so they would force developers to make quality games, or at least prevent people from releasing shovelware. It worked, but also pushed many 3rd party developers away, the effects of which were felt well into the Gamecube era, even though the Gamecube was designed to be extremely easy to develop for.

I thought Sega was in 3rd at the time.

sometimes its good don't to announce anything. It provokes want.

Yeah, but it's not going to work when all the hardcore Nintendo fans get angry with Nintendo. It's an unpredictable world and I can't announce anything, so I'll be patient and wait.

No starfox, but Mirrors Edge, Mad World and Deadly Creatures look good.

Also, while not E3, I quite like the look of that Brutal Legend.

Yes, Mirror's Edge and Mad world are very stylish and fun looking games. Little skeptical about Mirror's Edge though. As for Deadly Creatures, also skeptical, but it is very interesting.
