If anything, they should go back to multiple paths like Star Fox 64 and have a good soundtrack like Star Fox Assault

Oh heck yeah!  Brilliant.   plus they should display a full map of the Lylat system ^^

A new rumour had emerged!

Nintendocu, a Turkish press site made specially for Nintendo news coverage, had recently wrote a new article about a rumour they heard.

According to this article, they declare that the U.S. official magazine Nintendo Power may unveil soon in its November issue premiere information about the next StarFox game, claiming to be entitled Star Fox Wii: Battle for Corneria, and that there would be information that the game will support the Wii MotionPlus device, as well as having support for the Wii Speak with an online battle mode. They even featured a splash page that such a feature article would exist in the magazine.

Sadly, it was just a rumour, as they updated the article a few days later, declaring that the feature game would be the video game version of James Cameron's up-coming film Avatar, since Nintendo Power finally released a preview of their up-coming issue's cover. They also mentioned that splash page was a fake, as it was a doctored version of a splash page for an article on the game Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. It seemed obvious it was fake though, as the splash page featured artwork from StarFox: Assault.

However, do not fully diss this rumour just yet, as the same article mentioned about a new DNS activity: An August 2009 update to the official StarFox.com domain! This is a technical thing though, as the website is still pretty much down, but such an update seems important as it hints Nintendo are up to something. This is not a far-fetched idea, as it is well known the up-coming Tokyo Game Show will be in full swing in September, and Nintendo hopes to unveil more on the up-coming Legend of Zelda game which they teased us with a poster back in E3 2009! Who said they may not unveil something about the next StarFox? Afterall, they surprised us with Command just mere months before it was released!

By the way, don't allow Nintendocu fool you with its link to the so-called "official Turkish website", as the website seems to be run by different European company.

Well, I have my hopes up for TGS!

I remember multiple Star Fox-related easter eggs in Legend of Zelda games...

Perhaps Nintendo will release a new Legend of Zelda game alongside a new Star Fox game.

TGS isn't that long away, so I suppose I'll wait for then. If nothing is heard there, then I'm losing all hope for a Wii release. :(

I'm still going with the theory Star Fox may skip a console just as Metroid did when the N64 came and passed by.

I'm hoping Nintendo does it themselves, if not, they should at least hand it off to HAL if they want to make it good.  Namco was OK, but the only way third party should be making main franchises is Capcom and Zelda, Starfox needs to be made by First party.

Star Fox Command by Q-Games was BAD

Star Fox Assault by Namco was OK

Star Fox Adventures by Rare was GOOD

Star Fox 64 by Nintendo was... LEGENDARY

Why HAL Laboratory specifically? They are only acclaimed for the Kirby series, the EarthBound/Mother series, the Super Smash Bros. series, and some Pokémon games.

HAL Laboratory is a second-party company, by the way.

You forgotten the classical Star Fox (and Star Fox 2) by Argonaut Software, which was(/were) the game(s) that started it all!

It's too bad that Argonaut Software, or should I say Argonaut Games, had been defunct since 2004. Dylan Cuthbert, the guy who founded Q-Games, is a former Argonaut Software employee! You should know that...

It seems that, technically, even though Nintendo owns the Star Fox copyrights, the majority of the games were developed by third-party companies!

OK, I left those out because they came before my time... I've only been able to see Star Fox I and Star Fox 2 through an emulator... but that's beside the point.

I'll add them to the list:

Star Fox I was: Revolutionary

Star Fox 2 was: Ahead of Its Time

Yes, Star Fox I and Star Fox 2 were great games (Star Fox 2, especially, it was simply amazing for a SNES game!).

SF I, SF 2, and SFC are all somewhat related too.

Argonaut Software did a good with those first two.  Even if Dylan Cuthbert is a former Argounaut employee, Q-Games still did not do a great job with SFC's storyline (I won't go into detail there, it's already been covered several times in this thread).

I've never actually played Command, so I'm not judging the gameplay.  I never bought it because it was stylus controlled, though... anyways, I've read through the different branches of the storyline online, and it's very cheesy in some places.  That's why it's at the bottom of the list for me.

Star Fox 64, though it wasn't the first instalment in the series, is certainly the best.

Although, Star Fox I's Corneria theme song gets the award for the best Star Fox in-mission soundtrack of all time.

If there is an announcement, it won't be at the TGS. Nintendo never takes part in it.

Nintendo usually has a conference in Japan in the first week of October. However, the October release of Sin & Punishment 2 might delay an announcement.

Zero credibility. Their "source," if it exists, knows nothing. Not even the system it's coming on.

Nintendo is going to be at CMEX. Announcements are possible. Big rumored announcement is a Wii price drop.
