I think it would be easier if people just said if they disagree with that, rather then everyone agreeing. :)

I actually want the new Starfox to either go after Assault or the "Whole team back together" Command ending.  My idea is that the team is just hunting out random threats and bounties in peace time, witch traces into a much deeper threat.  So that being, everyone is a bit more calm and laid back.  It would be a cool way and very easy to integrate new ideas as well as classic ideas.

Either idea would be great, but I'd also like see the Command sequel take place no more than 3 months after SFC, I don't want too much time to fly within the canon. It would also create a better semblance of "they way things were".

They'll make one when they make one. Relax. I don't think Nintendo is going to just DUMP the series. Well, until they officially say they will not be making any more Star Fox games. But we'll just have to wait and find out.

If they did however, I'd probably drop dead instantly....

I have been a Star Fox fan for a LONG time and I feel that Nintendo hasn't given the series justice.... For years I have had an idea about what the next Star Fox game should be. This game is intended to be a prequel and a retelling of the Star Fox for the SNES and Star Fox 64 as well as a reboot for the series. There are many loose ends and recent games have taken a turn in the wrong direction story and game play wise (ie: star fox assault and command). This game is to expand on the great game play presented by the original star fox and star fox 64, meaning there will be NO Krystal or Panther characters, really those that come later in the series. Among notable features presented in this “rough draft” are those of 4 player online co-op, a very extensive online multiplayer and leaderboards. The game will be rich in story and will have quite a few cut scenes to tell the story. Oh, and Slippy would actually be "cool" as in, he would resemble more of a Battletoad like amphibian instead of...well.... you know.....

Gameplay will have arwings, blue marines and landmasters. Almost always, one person will be in something other than an arwing. (like 3 arwings and a landmaster) this will be essential to the gameplay! They way it is played is that each member will have a specific “task” to perform so that the team can progress! So in "story mode" first player is fox, this person signs on to Nintendo WFC right away at the opening screen, then they start to play story mode, at any time, up to 3 people can join during story mode, slippy, peppy, falco. Hard part now: when everyone plays, they see their own screen, and generally not the other characters too much. Like, think of a square. This square represents fox's screen or example playing regular starfox 64.... Ok? Then when other people come on, one "square" turns into 2, or if there are 4 people, then 4 "squares" now form together to form a giant "field" of one giant square, but don’t confuse this with split screen. THERE WILL BE NO SPLIT SCREEN. Here's the cool part. Scenario: one enemy base has a giant shild. To destroy the shield slippy or someone has to be in aquas to destroy a remote generator as well as falco who is in sector z perhaps to destroy the shield's satellite. HERE IS THE KICKER! for peppy and fox to destroy the shield, they have to activate a type of switch to let player 4 (slippy) who is underwater, to access the generator. In which falco (player 2) has only a minute to destroy the satellite in order to destroy enemy signal. In which fox and peppy HAVE to destroy the now unshielded weapon, or it destroys the great fox. And this is all happening in REAL time.... Communicating with a headset.... You can't see the other players do this, just have faith and communicate... And if one fails their task, all is lost...

I have already thought of one level that you enter some kind of out-of-dimensional space and everyone’s screen goes funky. All four people playing in co-op will see the screen fade in and out and then out of no where, Fox’s mind is in Peppy’s body and Falco’s body is controlled by Slippy and so forth. And in REAL time, you have to stay alert and watch for this “twilight zone”  kind of affect where you play someone else’s player for a little while, then revert back. If you finish it successfully, it does a video sequence to where everyone was confused and didn’t know who they really were, but then Slippy pipes up and claims that he knew who’s body he was controlling because falco “doesn’t have much going on in his head anyway”. (ha ha cue laugh.) and if you don’t finish the level right, 2 of the team members will stay stuck in eachother’s bodies and have to find someone that can fix that problem.  If there is only one player playing single player mode, then the characters would be computer controlled and do there part if you yes, somehow save them.

There will be online leaderboards to show how many kills each team mate got and there will be online team rankings. A Vast online multiplayer would be important too, Capture the flag, Perks, etc....

So many good ideas and Miyamoto not to be found to give him these……….this game would be sick……

Let me know what you all think!!

Yes this is a good idea, then you can give Fara, Miyu and Fay a fresh start. I know Fara was only in the NP comics but she is still Nintendo's so she could be turn into a canon char if they choose. Miyu and Fay would reboot. Others like Bill and Katt could be recycled to.

When I get down to what I expect in the next Star Fox game is, so long as they don't botch the game up with mediocre, watered down ground shooter games. For five years I have been seeing a tug-of-war between the senior Star Fox fans who desire it to be an on rail shooter game and on the other side the junior Star Fox fans who were introduced with Star Fox adventures and up want some ground combat in the next game like in Assault.

The problem there is no matter what Nintendo cant satisfy everyone, that's common sense. Logically I believe that Nintendo should seriously stop playing this game of hot potato with Star Fox and stop what the are doing and just pick a company to go with. With Rare bought out by Microsoft, some disappointing and mediocre concepts put in Star Fox Assault along with the short run on the stick with Q-Games with Dylan Cuthbert, one of the found fathers who was a key role in the Star Fox Series, Nintendo needs to seriously think about their next company. Common sense they had a good thing with Star fox 64 when the game was made by Nintendo by the help of the Super Mario Club, Ear force and Tri-Film, it was still a pure Nintendo oriented game. Maybe the whole answer to their problems is if they just simply made the game themselves instead of relying on a third party to solve their problems.

It may just be me, but didn't the Star Fox Series do very well when Hiroshi Yamauchi was still president of Nintendo? It seems when he steped down in 2002 with Vice President Iwata taking over, that's when Star Fox started its downfall. Coincidence? Just a thought.

Shigeru Miyamoto says that he likes the franchise, but it feels as if hes afraid to come up with any progress of the series, yet his Zelda franchise as well as their iconic Mario games are spitting out more than Galdon coughing up Fox McCloud Hairballs. I know Star fox has always been a five year average gig with the franchise, but as hypothetical it may be, there must be something going on in their meetings where they are afraid of risking creating another sequel. It may be also the fact they have been keeping the secret to well that had us thinking the never made one, which if that were true would be the biggest bluff in video game history.

Does this mean I believe Duke Nukem Forever has more odds than Star Fox? No of course not, regardless there will be one, Zelda and Mario aren't the only games that people only want to play. Remember we had this same problem with Metroid fans when we were deadly convinced that there would be one for the Nintendo 64, we believed that it would take them 5 years to make one too, only to find out that it never came till one day a magical purple box floated down from the heavens and introduced Metroid Prime as one of the many release titles for the game platform. So hypothetically it never comes out on the Wii.... mabe because Shigeru believes its more logical for a game well known for being released with promotional Nintendo Accessories, maybe its waiting for something innovating to come up to where Star Fox always preservers? The Nintendo Wii is not the last console of the companies life. There will be other opportunities for the Star Fox series besides the Wii. Which leads me to the other thing.

I know a lot of the Star fox fans are afraid of a lot of things to come Plot wise with the next Star Fox sequel. Especially after when Nintendo threw a curve ball with us on Star Fox Command giving us 9 different alternative endings. I would have to agree with some common sense that I don't believe they will be calling it "Star Marcus" any time soon, and as far as the James McCloud theory for a prequel, that's still misty in the air to pull any weight on the franchise; Fox has already made an iconic face for Nintendo, a Star Fox game without him is like having a Mario game with only their opposite doppelgangers Waluigi and Wario. And if the James McCloud prequel possibility theory ever happens then there is nothing stopping a Marcus in a Star Fox sequel if they go down that road.

We all want something different in a new Star Fox game, it cant be the same plot using Andross or the Venomian Army or opposing force taking over Lylat. Star Fox fans want something different plot wise in a new Star fox game but at the same time don't want anything too far fetched if entirely different either. What Nintendo should have propose to keep the Star Fox Series fresh is go with the "Heroes journey concept" Come up with a series of games based on the same event but its stretched out until they get to the finally then start a new plot. I think the main problem is when it comes to plots they are too much like the build of Legend of Zelda, e.g. the main villain dies but comes up numerous times with more and more ridiculous concepts of cheating death.

Some final thoughts to close this up, I'm only stating my opinions of the concerns being heard everyday from the Star Fox Community, as well as the possible directions the next sequel may be heading. Though we have had a rough series of games that didnt live up to the day when we first took off in our Arwings like we did back in '97, I do believe one day there will be a light on the other side of the tunnel, waiting to arise as  that once nostalgic feeling we once had.  We can still come up with more and more conspiracies and receptions for what could be a cool Star fox game, but when it all boils down to, there is nothing we can do but hope for the best that Nintendo hears our prayers and doesn't screw it up. regardless if its a good game or a crappy one, We will get our game EVENTUALLY...it's just all a matter of time of when.

EDIT some words of wisdom that fit this subject on a new Star Fox game:

Conan: Nintendo, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought, or why we died. All that matters is that two stood against many. That's what's important! Valor pleases you, Nintendo... so grant me one request. Grant me another good Star Fox game! And if you do not listen, then to HELL with you!

Peronly i think they should go with a refined assault style play to  settle both sides with even amounts  of onfoot and rail shooting levels.

now another thing I'm really pushing for is the co-op single player it's just not fun playing with Ai's all the time. anyway this is  my layout for co-op play

1st player:Fox

2nd player:Krystal

3rd player:Falco

4thplayer:Slippy or new member.

another thing i'm really going to push for is  a reboot of Fay and Miyu I don't say Fara because Fara was a comic character she can stay there besides  i don't think we need a cat or Vixen fight over Fox.

I agree with you Chrono, All I ask for is that Nintendo doesn't screw the series up by continueing off the 9 different endings. I want Fox McCloud to always be the leader :D

All I want is a good Star Fox game made by Nintendo like they did with Star Fox 64. No more of this Third Party company crud.

Oh come on, Fara needs to be in it, she doesn't have to part of the team though, just another NPC that will spark some memories for people who have the power, the Nintendo Power!

I hate to nitpick, but we actually first took off in our Arwings back in '93

I soooo agree!  Fara deserves to be in at least 1 game...

I'd like to see Fara and Krystal fight over Fox...especially in some jello and whipped cream, or in mud, or in hot oil *drools*  (should make for a nice un-lockable bonus cinematic scene) :P

How about they do a DBZ styled fusion, not the earrings, the fusion dance, and then they can both have Fox...;p

I loved Chronos adaption of Conan's speak. That was slightly epic.

I'm all for a reboot! :D maybe go were some other series have gone and do a remake of Lylat Wars where you have to fight through an entire trilogy of games before you get to face Andross at the end. (And include Fara too!)

I like the idea of being able to fly from planet to planet, but something along the lines of The Wind Waker would be too tedious (When it takes 5 minutes to get to a planet so that you can have a thirty second battle there's something not quite right...) But something along the lines of StarFox 2 would be great, it'd just need more planets and a save option and other modern comforts like that.

I like the idea of a co-op game, but you guys over in America forget that not everybody has highspeed internet  COUGH#GROWL*%# Damn Australian Govenment*&%GRRRR  , and even if they did, sometimes its nice to just be able to play alone...

I also like the idea of Nintendo extending their support of the games to outside their games too, like commission a novel of James's StarFox or something, something that you wouldn't want to play but'd be great to read.

I think that my favourite type of game would be something along the lines of SF2, but make every aspect longer by about an factor of ten or so, then replace the walking Arwing with either the Land Master &/or On foot segments, make some of the levels on-rail, make Andross so that he's actually hard for once (Like SFAd was getting on the right track, but still needs to be harder, more like SFsnes path 3), add Fara (and Fay and Miyu?) and give all of the characters more backstory and personality (Tell us why Falco's a jerk for most of LW [Hey I like him as much as you guys do, but no one's like that for no reason]), get rid of Krystal  :lolhyst: (Yeah, fat chance), include Great Fox missions, another Area 6 level but longer and with even MORE baddies O_o And if people are still breathing after that, give them the toughest StarWolf Battle we've seen yet! And put DZ in charge of composing the music with the world's best musicians at his disposal. :8):

There, simple, now Nintendo, go and make it!

*ducks the pervhammer swung by Asper, takes the pervhammer from Asper and hits him directly on top of the head with it, and then hits him in the groin with it, and then breaks the pervhammer apart*

Some "bonus mission" would be good to have, successful completion of them should award you upgrades, unlock Easter Eggs, etc.

fara could be on those bonus missions, in a mini history that explains how they broke up and showing i an afert-main history cinematic how they met again, but of course they wouldn't be togheter again, because  :fox: would be already on a relationship with  :krystal: .

One of my biggest fears is that the development of the next game may be skipped from the Wii all together! Despite what Miyamoto says, nobody else at Nintendo seems to have any mind for the franchise any longer, as the newer games saw less success than their predessors! Anyone here knows that Star Fox 64, which was released three "games" ago, is still by far the most successful game in the franchise?

The Wii is very likely going to reach the end of its life-cycle by mid-2012 maximum, if history presists that way! If Nintendo won't officially announce a new game in development soon enough, there is a chance the game will be released in the final days of the Wii, or even skip it all together in favour of its successor, which will likely feature improved motion-based technology and true HD graphics.

I believe that can very well happen! In fact, during the Nintendo 64 days, Nintendo often mentioned they would do a Metroid 64 game, but of course that never happened! In the previous generation, Super Metroid was one of Nintendo's most successful games, and still considered by many as the best Metroid game yet! Despite this, the Metroid series skipped the Nintendo 64 entirely, save for an appearance of the main character - Samus Aran -  on the classical Super Smash Bros.! The series then suddenly re-appeared on the Nintendo GameCube, and proved to be brilliant series once again!

Of course, by now everyone knows how brilliant the Metroid franchise is, especially when we learnt a little more about the up-coming Metroid: Other M, incidentally the second game on the Wii console alone (third if you count the Metroid Prime Trilogy)! I mean, seriously, what can be said about Star Fox now after Star Fox Command!? Not saying it's a bad game, but it did not exactly return the same hype people went for when Star Fox 64 was coming out!

Like I mentioned earlier, regardless of what Miyamoto says, the in-house development team at Nintendo are too busy with more anticipated titles such as Super Mario Galaxy 2 and the next The Legend of Zelda game, although the former seems to be near completion anyway, but then again development of giant Zelda games is no picnic either! It took Nintendo about five years to eventually finalise The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time! Nintendo will most likely hire another developer for the next Star Fox game, but the question is which developer exactly? I mean, is any developer out there really ready to make the next game in a "dying franchise?" (This is the business sense, people! Always think about it that way!)

By the way, anyone heard Nintendo making another F-Zero game soon? Uh... no... there was no mention of F-Zero either. :|

You know about 15 years ago Sega did a good on-rail shooter called Star Wars Trilogy Arcade. Looks a lot like Star Fox 64, but you only aim, you don't control how your ship moves. I think that branch of Sega is dead, though.

I had an idea for a reboot that would start you off with Fox, Peppy, and Slippy, and as the game went on you'd have the option to recruit more team members with different skills and ships (Falco, Krystal, etc.) You can choose who you play as, what you fly, and which wingmen will follow you into a mission (like Star Fox 2).

And each planet would have multiple paths and objectives, and (sort of like Mario 64/Banjo) the more you complete, the more levels/objectives you can unlock. There would be on-rails obstacle missions and free-roaming boss or enemy swarm (Command-style) missions.
