Excessive smilie use

Now, this isn't a rule and I won't edit threads over it, but as of late I have seen an increase in excessive smilie use so I figure I'd post a little netiquette PSA bout them.

Smilies (or emoticons if you prefer that term) are there to add a little bit of an expression to the text you have posted.

Proper use:

Oh wow! Thanks! That is awesome!

However, there is no need to make either posts that are nothing but smilies or posting a bunch of smilies when one will do.

Improper use:

Oh wow! Thanks! That is awesome!

So, please be courteous when using smilies. Improper use can be quite annoying.

Once again, this isn't a rule, but it will make people less likely to think of you as if you were a n00b (note that I am not calling anyone a n00b).
