Are you a Furry?

I agree with both of you, of course. I may have come a bit off in my first statement of fursuiting. I think it's completely fine, and if I had the money you can bet I'd do it as well, what I meant were the people who do fursuiting for -other- reasons.

To be honest, convincing those you know and those you don't that furry isn't a bad thing can be hard. It just takes a lot of patience, and a lot of defensive rhetoric when it comes to the fandom. Get some statistics from famous surveys and try to find people who will speak up for your cause- that's the only way people will listen. If one or two people say it's not bad, it may be hard for others to believe, but if you get a handful of people to agree with you and -prove- that they represent the fandom as it should be, I'm sure those you know and love will come to understand, over time.

I agree ^

@catwings30  XD There are some that do want to sleep with animals but FORGIVE ME SFO STAFFS those guys are the ones refered to as furfags....

They are into bestiality and call themselves a furry, While they may be a furry  that aspect of their personal life should not be grouped into the furry aspect, as one has nothing to do with the other.

You can proudly say your a furry and not worry about any of us thinking omg she wants to sex up animals....

i know a guy in the fandom who does do that stuff and he remains in the fandom i have found it best just to distance myself from those types of furries and i highly doubt you'd find anyone like that here.

But point is beastality has nothing to do with furryisum?  if thats not a word you know what i mean XD

AAAA, for saying that, we will ban you forever, I'm sorry, "sends you a pie".  :P

Anyways, AAAA is right, there's furry people and there's bestiality people, two things really different.

omg noooo

YAY PIE!!!

and yeah alot of people do think that though it all started from trolls... the easyest way to troll a furry is say they want to have sex with animals thats where the greatest misconception came from  while there are a few  who actually do do that stuff the most part it's all  just a result of slow witted trolls that couldn't think of a new  gimic

I like to think of myself as a furry. As of this post, I've attended nine conventions, including six times to Anthrocon, the world's largest anthropomorphics convention. I have dozens of commissioned pictures of my character. I also have a character on SecondLife.

While furry is a part of my life, I consider it just a hobby. Like many furries, I have interests outside of the furry fandom, such as movie making and volunteering. Furry is just a small part of who I am. (:

I gotta say i've become one recently.

Ever since i picked up SF: assault again earlier this year, I've come to be able to appreciate the type of art, befriend the type, and make several characters of the furry type. I wouldn't say i am a hardcore person, but one who is there. So i guess you could call me a furry. lol

I'm a furry, not a furvert though. I think most people are as well, because, and correct me if I'm wrong please, characters such as Yogi Bear and Snagglepuss and such can be considered furry characters as well, and I've yet to meet a single person that doesn't like a Hanna Barbara character such as them. Never been to a convention myself, what with a lack of money, transportation, and my mother and father being under the idea that every person who is a furry likes to dress up in costumes for the sole purpose of sexual acts, I would like to attend one sometime however, not sure about cosplaying it however, conflicts with me being a double leo, we're usually not into roleplaying or things along that line as the thought of wanting to be anyone other than ourselves is foreign to us. I do enjoy furry art however, especially if there's a story because you can get much more of a character diversity, in my opinion. Lets hope some day admitting your a furry won't prompt a stoning and/or burning at the stake.

I don't remember it, but I do remember Disney's Robin Hood.  That movie is awesome.

No, it goes back WAAAY further than that....anthropomorphic characters are nothing new...

...the better fur suits could be seen in the early 1980's with the musical "Cats", by Andrew Lloyd Weber, or the old TV show "Zoobilly Zoo"...though the earliest sighting of those styles of fursuits I can think of was that "Cowardly Lion" in that late 1930's movie "The Wizard of Oz"...not bad for a pioneer fur-suit[er]/furry ;)
