Agreed. There is also the issue of robotic bits being better then the human parts. See runners and power suits for instance. When you get onto organ repacment and nanomachines, they really start to flip. That would take things to far off topic though.

The ability to give a person back their arm through cybernetics is an astounding feat I must admit, but if we were to start replacing body parts with cybernetic enhancements because of it being convenient would be a bad turn for the human race, basically dehumanizing humans. If we start turning people into freaky cyborg things, we would lose sight of who we are being more machine than human. The same could go with genetically altering people into Furries.

I'm not against this idea, heck I would even support it, we would just need to be careful in HOW we do it.

I disagree. Does having no eyes make you more human? Does having a computer or a mobile phone make you less human? No. What's wrong with putting those things inside of people? Is being forgetful or ignorant human as well?

Correct. Think of the scenario often found in Sci-Fi stories: because of an accident, a person gets trapped in a robot's body or stored on a computer. Their body is gone. Do people immediately stop caring about that individual? Do they consider that person dead? No. The mind is what is important. Not the body.

If you don't know ghost in the shell, or the series of it, GITS SAC (love that acronym) the idea is the spirit, aka ghost, can be revmoved from the mortal body, aka shell.

The some spider tanks turn up, then there this class fight in a puddle where the woman is invisable, then some boring stuff about robots swimming or something and it all gets confusing. I prefer bubblegum crisis myself.

Now regarding furries in general,

There's nothing wrong with being a furry, but just don't use it as an icebreaker for every person you meet, or go around telling everyone you encounter "Hey, I'm a furry!" (especially towards other furries...if you are a real furry, you need not constantly advertise it, especially to your own kind)...at the same time, don't deny you're a furry if someone asks if you are one, when you are a furry.  Same kind of thing goes for Goth, and other subcultures; don't advertise [toward your own kind] constantly, don't deny it if asked...and above all, be yourself.  :x

Only by taking the most liberal definition possible. Certainly, most everyone likes animals characters, but furries at least tend to like them a little more than other character types, like humans.

In my opinion, even if you have all the characteristics of being a furry, you really aren't one unless you choose to be a furry. Its all a matter of taste and choice.

CSI, I've heard of that incident. I've never seen it but I hope to GOD that episode never comes on when I watch it. The only one in my family that knows I'm a furry is my dad, and I didn't just right out tell him, I'm smarter than that, and he knows I'm not into.... THAT stuff, but if that episode ever comes on when we watch it, its just gonna be too awkward.

If you say yes to all three you are close to a furry.
