Quite so. We've begun remodelling with Shane Murphy [lead of Outbreak: Condemned] and Shakeno [first guy to get a working UDK model outside of Epic Games].

I had a feeling it was the same Shakeno i know.

He actually sent me his Krystal mod he made a few months ago and it works very well. Though from what i know he still hasn't released it yet do to a few bugs with the hover board.

Interesting. I'm still a coding n00b, the day after I justed into Valve, they broke it. Still looking to cut my teeth. I know hammer pretty well, and I don't like UTs texture pop in. If you're going to just ship aain, Im hearing awsome things about Natural Selection 2 engine.

Oh, and the mod has been tipped to fail. I hope you make it. If things break down though it might be worth starting from scratch.

Yeah, I know some things from Unreal games have a bit of texture pop-in, but I haven't seen that from Borderlands too much, although sometimes the textures come in low-res occasionally, but it then corrected itself. There's always something wrong with some engine, but I think that Unreal is more stable.

First enough. I have borderlands and that has texture pop in quite alot whenever you make a quick transition.

My engine of choice was Cryteck 2, but it doesnt work on my machine as well as I hoped. Cryteck 3 promised more features with less requirements, and given how it's made for 360 and my PC surpasses that console, it should work well.

Valve is what I know from my mapping days. After ep3 they really need to make a new engine, but more importantly they need to stop breaking it.

Question. Whats the enemy AI like in Unreal? HL2 has my all time favourite AI (in a moddable game) and is one of the reasons I like to stick with it.

I know of that, but that's because the engine can't process the level fast enough from what I heard. It loads the map and then throws you into it, lagging texture loads.

PC's Crytek 3 demo crashed within 3 minutes of gameplay. So I'm not sure how well that is.

Enemy AI in Unreal is actually more advanced than in Source because it can read its own HP and take cover or run based off that.

Crysis 2 isn't out yet, so the engine will likely not be 100%ed yet.

HL2 can do some mad things. They will cover each others, but hide when there is 1 guy left. Watching them leapfrog each other is a thing of beutey. You probley know better then me though.

Anyway, the reason I was asking is because UT (the game) isn't know for it's great AI, and I wondered how that would effect the SP experience.

Though it isn't Unreal 3, Unreal 2004 had great AI.

Seems so...

I have been working hard on some Unreal maps these past couple weeks, please have patience. Making maps is hard work, especially when only two people are doing it atm. Some of us go to work 5 days a week and attend College at the same time. Time is not a luxury I can primarily focus on Project Kursed all the time. We'll post something in the thread when the team is confident. PK has been in development for over 2 Years now, Shadows of Lylat has been around more than half a decade. Remember, we aren't getting paid to do this either, we are making this mod with whatever free time we can afford right now.

There hasn't been anything new on modDb, and I havn't seen anything come up on the old forums either (but i'm not surprised about that part.)

I'll see if i can get ahold of chrono a bit later and ask.

I know its been a long time since I updated anything on this thread, but I have an important announcement to make. In the past couple months there have been some important things came up in my life that require my full attention. For the past couple years working on PK my hands were full balancing out school work and free time. To this day I still strive to get PK finished as soon as I can, but right now it has put a toll on my mental and physical state to where I cant risk jeopardizing my career. As a video game developer, I have important projects to work on for my career portfolio to show to people in the gaming industry on my senior year in college. Clearly I tried to juggle between working hard in college and working hard on the Project but time is having its revenge and I can no longer keep up on two at the same time.

When I started Project Kursed, I promised to deliver the dream on creating a First Person Shooter fan game for the Star Fox Fans. And in my experience learning how to make video games in my classes I have the tools and the experience to make that happen. But for now I had to make a sacrifice in handing over my status to Atis who still continues to work on the project with the PK team. This is not permanent, and the project is in the hands of experienced UDK developers who volunteered to continue the project. When things in my college career start to wind down and I have more free time I will continue with the Project providing what I can from maps, models and Concept art.

In these past few months I had to deal with a lot of people who argued with me making this decision saying that I shouldn't have put this project aside. Personally this is my decision. I have chosen a person capable of holding the mod together while I'm gone so that its not abandoned.I only ask of you to show me the respect that I will return when I am ready after my important life change I am going through in my quarter life. There are so many things that I still want to do with PK, and I will still be with the team in spirit until I return.

To all those who are still with us, I thank you and to not give up. It's not the number of levels that make a great game, but the number of years of hard work and dedication that make it worth while. Till then PK is still working on something and I will still be the man to give you info on whats new. Till then, keep your dreams alive.

If they're willing to help you like that, then this project must be good. I'm sure they'll do a good job of keeping the development allive. :)_
