I don't know if anyone's asked this, but is this game free?

It should be free, or otherwise the people who're making this game are in big trouble!

Shadows of Lylat sounds like it's gonna be an awesome game, but here's some question's for you guys.

1. Once I plugged my Xbox 360 controller into my Computer, will that work to?

2. Will it cost anything to download Shadows of Lylat?

3. Will all of the levels from SF64 be there? Because on the 2nd SoL trailer, I saw an awesome version of the 64 Lylat System Map.

If I can use a 360 controller to play starfox 2 on a snes emulator You should be albe to use a 360 controler to play  Sol or Freespace 2. But I would Strongly recommend you use the keyboard because this game has alot of butttons.

FS2 will allow you to use any controller that your OS recognizes as a game controller.

The problem with using a 360 controller is that it WILL NOT have all of the required buttons. I imagine you will find it very difficult to play with a controller.

The current recommended setup is a 3-axis joystick w/ throttle and a keyboard. I personally have used a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and my keyboard with Shadows (I'm on the dev team, so I get play access to the alphas) with little trouble.

Shadows is it's own game, it is not an SF64 remake. There are currently no plans for SF64 remake missions.

I use strictly the keyboard

I'll still probably use the 360 controller, as long as you can go under the options and reset the controller settings. People can do that....right?

I don't have high hopes for this game at all, at least, not as a starfox game.

Not to be critical...

I expect it will be fun at all, I mean, Its basicly just Free space Texture hack on steroids, overhauled to the limits, And free space is a really fun game.

BUT....

I don't feel it will be like star fox.

Free space takes place in Open space, there are NO planets, the only objects are ships.

So its very unlikely that there will be any planets, and there isn't from what ive seen so far ( but I've not been playing close attention, so correct me if Im wrong )

that being said, I've gotten the impression that its unlikely to feel very much like star fox.

From what I know, it will be more geared towards simulation that SF have previosuly been, something I think should be interesting to have a go at.

Also, from what I've heard, they have found a way to make maps on ground. By making ships that looks like landscapes and making them immoveable.

Actually I believe it's just a planet. The SoL team just had to use a ship to make a planet due to the game's engine.

But I have been wondering....SoL is supposed to have the source code for Freespace 2. Doesn't that mean they could combine engines from other games?

Well, I mean, as far as coding.

I understand that in game its just a planet.

Remember: FreespaceOpen. You cannot judge FSO by the limitations of retail FS2.

FSO has knocked down a lot of the technical barriers in the engine.

Also, two words: LUA Scripting. Thanks to this, On-Rails missions are possible, and will be in SoL.

Will it feel exactly like SF64? No. But, it will feel a lot more so than FS2.

Its not an issue of what they can and cant do.

Its an issue with what will and will not be done.

They might have plans to make this epic amazing game, and to do everything possible to make it so.

But they might not be able to if they ever want to release the thing.

Its not about the barriers.

Its about the resources.

that's prety simple to do considering the turrents on the Orion class destroyers are already immovable besides turing  on the hull of the destroyer

From what I've heard, they've been working on this project for over 6 years, and have busted some barriers wide open. I'm pretty sure they will be able to get what they want out of the final product, and it will be amazing at that.

I'm on the SoL Dev Team. If it weren't for us wanting some of these features, they wouldn't be in FSO.

And after release, anyone who can use FRED can make missions for it.

As long as it doesn't end up like Project Zelda Online.

I don't care what features it has, or how much like the starfox I've always wanted it becomes... It needs to come out first.

A lot of projects are started, but few make it all the way to the end.

What kills many of my own projects is constantly going "Oh, and I should do this, I should include that! If I can make it do this it will be cool"

If I don't stop and go "Ok, I need to forget everything I had planned, and just get it done with what I have" then the project just seems to slowly die. I like to say, They were improved to death.

Im starting to sound like a cynic or somthing...

Thats unintentional.
