DZComposer
Steve9 Has been selected to succeed XG Fox as the Lead Moderator, which is an administrator position. As per protocol, staff appointments require confirmation from the community. Lead Moderator is an admin position that I have been having to fill myself as of late, but I have decided to go ahead and appoint a new person to this position. This position will be the main moderating admin. He will be the one you want to report rule violations to. This doesn't mean that I am leaving or anything. My focus will be shifting more towards forum policy and back-end stuff rather than moderating. Steve has been a moderator here at SFO longer than I have been admin. He has shown good judgment and has been an active member of the staff. Do you support Steve9 as lead moderator? Please vote in the poll. Please note: This is not a discussion of whether or not this position is needed. I have determined that it is.

Zwolf
Where's the... Like branches of power for these positions? Like, Owner > Lead Admin > Admins > Moderators? Something like that?

DZComposer
Where's the... Like branches of power for these positions? Like, Owner > Lead Admin > Admins > Moderators? Something like that? Mr K. and I are both owners and we both have put in financially to secure SFO's hosting. I run the forums and make decisions on how they operate, Mr. K, runs the site and makes decisions on how it operates. Neither of us are really "above" the other. If there is something major that effects both, IE the server move, we consult with eachother. Steve's position is not one of ownership, though as far as permissions settings, he will have all of the powers that Mr. K. and I do on the forum. I was just trying to understand the "steps" of power, so to speak. Like is an admin higher on the list than a moderator... Stuff like that. Who reports to whom. Stuff like that. Who reports to whom. We, DZ and I, are full owners of the site. This means that we have the power to shut down the site, or move it to another server. Though we do take longer to make things happen due to needing to converse, we often agree on the end result, being of similar mind. Mods do moderation, and possibly some administrative stuff, but they have no control over the site as a whole that we don't give them.

Kursed
Are moderators and admins basically the same thing? the word moderator and Admin are similair in meaning.
Steve
The difference between an Admin (this case, mod leader) and a normal mod is that the group of mods would be asking advice to the Admin, and real, serious problems would be addressed to the Admin, also, mods with trouble making a decision would contact the Admin for advice and for a final answer, if it's needed. A mod leader also has the responsibility to build a capable mod team to control the place (alongside the site Admins, of course) and guide them as well, aside some other things. To resume things, an Admin has way more work to do than the mod, basically, "almost" same responsibilities, just in a bigger space.

DZComposer
There are differences in powers as well. Mods can only edit and delete posts and lock threads. Admins can do all of that plus change board settings and ban people. Moderators keep discussion civilized, admins keep the place running. Yes, admins are higher than mods. That's why you have to be a full mod for a year before you can become an admin.
