Chapter 7

“Yeah, I kind of figured that out when you mentioned that you were the leader of the Star Fox Team.”  Scarr said, lowering his head and chuckling.  “But there has to be another reason for you being here than bugging me with questions.”

“Yes, I do have a reason for coming here.”  Fox replied taking off his shades.  “I’m here to ask a favor of you that I probably won’t ask anyone else.”

“And that’s…?”

Fox closed his eyes for a second and said, “I want you to join me with the new Star Fox Team I am trying to assemble.”

Meanwhile, Kursed was daydreaming in her room about the crash that happened days ago.  She clutched onto the sheets of the bed she was in while she remembered reading Scarr’s mind as he thought to himself before the crash and coming to with him in tears at the crash site.  It all came back to her when she was back with Star Fox several years back;  narrowly getting hit by an Aparoids particle beam after their fight with Oikonny, being chased in the skies, conflicts on the ground, and Fox always there to save her.  She shook her head during this thought and looked around at the room that was dimmed so that she could rest if she felt she had the need to.  She put her hand to her head as she thought she were getting a migraine.

The pain soon got too excruciating for her to bear.  As soon as she closed her eyes, memories of Cerinia and learning of it’s demise flashed in her head.  She thought of her family; her father, mother, siblings, relatives, even her tribe… all lost in Cerinia’s final hours.  She was possibly the only sole survivor of the planet and it’s people.  But how can she be it’s only survivor after what all she’s done to countless worlds in different systems?  She sighed and looked down at her hands still gripping the sheets and loosened her grip.  All she thought about was her name and what it meant.

Kursed…  I know I named myself that because of how it felt when I thought about everything that has happened to me.. And how it was when it first started with my planet beind destroyed, but that doesn‘t mean I have to name myself that.  Slowly, I‘m thinking that I‘m not myself anymore and that I just can‘t live on like this… but if I do go back to my old self, then that means the people of Corneria will… they will…  aww, it‘s just hard to think about it anymore!  Kursed looked out the window beside her room at the doctors and nurses walking and running by her window attending to other patients.  All she could do was wait and watch them as they went by.  She couldn’t leave or do anything, except sit in her dimmed room, and watch.

“What??!!  Are you serious??”  Scarr questioned while raising his voice.

“Yes, I am.  I need a new team of pilots that have a sense of heroism and stand up to unstoppable odds,” Fox replied “and that’s why I need your approval.”  He looked Scarr dead in the eyes and never left them.  Scarr, looking up at him in astonishment, paused thinking over it and what Fox said to him.  He smiled at Fox, “Sure… I’ll join.”  Fox reached into his back pocket and pulled out a gold-plated Star Fox emblem.

“Good.  Welcome to the new Star Fox Team.”  Fox said, handing Scarr the emblem.  Scarr stared at it for awhile and looked back up at Fox.  He put it down on the table near his bed and laid his head down on his pillow.  Fox sat back down and crossed his legs and kept watch on the time and how Scarr was doing.  He took off his shades, leaned down, and clamped his hands together.  “I need to ask you something about that girl you were with.”

“She has a name, you know.  Her name is Kursed” Scarr responded.

“Well, do you know her that well to protect like you did days ago?”

“Enough to know some of her background life… but she hasn’t told me much about herself.”

“Can you tell what all she has told you..?”

A few hours had pasted and a nurse came into Kursed’s room and brightened the room back up.  “Kursed?  Are you doing fine now?”

She turned her head and saw the nurse standing at the door holding it open.  “Yes, I’m fine…”

“Would you like for a visitor to come see you for awhile?”

“That depends..”

“Depends?  Anyone in particular you would like to see?”

Kursed looked down at her hands and gripped the sheets.  “Is… Scarr in good enough conditio--”

“We do not know right yet.  He’s responding well to us, but we don’t want to take our chances if he’s still having physical or mental issues regarding from the crash a few days ago.”

She looked up at the nurse, who was looking at other nurses and doctors and nodding to them as they passed.  “Oh… Well, can I see him?”

The nurse looked up.  “Are you sure you want to do that?”

“I’m positive.  I want to see how well he really IS doing.”

The nurse hesitated for a few minutes and stopped a doctor and asked if it was ok for her to leave her room for awhile.  She shut the door behind her and walked off, leaving Kursed in her room with her head hung over with her hair in her face.  She rose her hand and slowly lowered it, causing the lights to dim back before the nurse walked in.  The nurse walked back in with a concerned look on when the room was dim again and Kursed lifted her head to her.  “Ok… If you REALLY want to go see him in your condition, then be my guest.”  The nurse said pointing out the door with her task board.  “But don’t come back to us if you re-injure yourself.”

Kursed smiled under her long hair.  “You don’t have to worry about that…”  She threw the covers off her, got up, and walked out the door.  It’s been days since she had the chance to walk around and she got a bit light headed from getting up.  She walked out the door and waited for the nurse to shut the door and walk in front of her.  “His room is down this hall, and five rooms to the right.”  The nurse said, showing Kursed the way down the next hall.  Kursed nodded to her and walked on down the hall.

“So, that’s all she told you, huh?”  Fox said leaning back into his seat.

“Yeah… Basically.”  Scarr responded, looking at the ceiling.

“You’re also protecting her from the GPF?  For what reason, if I may ask?”

“…It’s… a personal reason.” Scarr closed his eyes. “Does there really have to be any other reason behind me trying to protect her?”

“I don’t see any from what you’ve told me.”  Fox looked at the clock and put his shades back on “I’d better get going.  I’ll contact you whenever I have everything set up for you on my ship.”  Fox got up and went to the door and it opened up.  He froze as Kursed was standing at the door shocked to see him there as well.  Fox walked past her, bumping against her shoulder as he made his way out.  She looked over her shoulder at him questioningly, and walked in Scarr’s room.

“Kursed!?”  Scarr stammered out.

“I’m fine…  you don’t have to worry about me.”  She said kneeling down by his bed.

“I am worried!  You got killed and…  I’m responsi--”

“No, you are not!  You did what you had to and I thank you for that…”  She turned her head and looked back at him.  “How hurt are from the crash from a few days ago…?”

“I feel fine…  Doctors say otherwise.”  He looked out the window as a doctor was making his way to his door.

“Scarr, how are we feeling today?”  The doctor said, opening the door.  He saw Kursed who was still kneeling by his bed and starring back at him.  “I see you have a visitor.  I’m sorry, Miss, but I’m going to have to ask you to --”

“No,” She replied “If you’re going to do checkups on him, I’m not leaving just for something so little…”

“Are you one of the victims from the crash a few --”

“Yes, I am.  Glad for you to notice..”  She said sitting down in a chair near Scarr’s bed and starred at the side of his bed.  He sighed and started asking Scarr random questions regarding any pains anywhere or numbness in certain spots.

“Look, Doc, I’m fine… Can I PLEASE just lea--”

“No!  We still have more tests to do to make sure you are healthy and free of injuries to release you.”  The doctor said, glaring at Scarr from his task board.

“Whatever… just get the tests over with so I can leave..”

“We have patients like you, so we know how to--”

“I could care less what you guys do…”  Scarr said, glaring back at him.

“Sorry to interrupt, but can you leave us be…?”  Interrupted Kursed.  “He doesn’t want to hear you lecture and I REALLY don’t want to hear you preach about who you have met…  So just go…”

The doctor walked up to her and whispered into her ear, “I’ll make sure the nurses see to it that you stay in your room next time!”  He opened the door and Kursed grabbed him on the back of his collar.  She threw him away from the door and he looked at her in shock.  “What do you think you are doing?!”

“You honestly think that I didn’t notice that disguise, you moron…”  Kursed said, slowly walking in his direction.  She clenched her fist, “You’re here to assassinate Scarr and me… well that’s not going to happen…”

“I-I don’t know what you are talking about!”  The doctor responded hesitately.  He reached around his back and bumped against the wall.

“You think that’s going to stop me from killing you…?  You HONESTLY think that…?”

“If it’s the only thing that will satisfy my boss and get me paid,” He said “Then yes, it will”  He pulled out a blaster and fired it at her.  Kursed tilted her head, and the shot hit the door, causing a burn spot.

“You can do better than that…” She hissed.

“Yes, I can.”  He pointed the gun in Scarr’s direction and smiled “Is this better?”

“No,”  She laughed “He’s not even there…!”

“WHAT?!”  He said looking at the bed with Scarr not in it.

“Looking for me?”  Scarr whispered.  The imposter turned and Scarr punched him in the tipple, knocking him unconscious, and he tumbled to the side of the bed.  Scarr threw him off of it and he sat down on the side, rubbing his hand while starring at the unconscious imposter.  “So, they sent an assassin to kill us, huh?”

“Who do you think sent him?  There has to be more of them…”  Kursed said, walking to his side.

“I’m guessing the Sporakian, but I could be wrong…”

“Well, we have to get out of here if we don’t want to be constantly ambushed…” She said extending her arms and  looking around the room. “Where do you suppose we go next?”

Scarr sat still for a minute to think but couldn’t come up with any ideas.  He sat up and went to the door and started to open it.  Kursed rushed to his side and grabbed his hand to stop him and Scarr paused.  He closed his eyes and his body sulked a bit when she grabbed his hand.

“Don’t, Scarr… We don’t know what we’re up against yet!  At least let me come with you so we have a better chance at getting out of this place…”

He looked down at her and lowered his hand.  “Do you have any ideas, then?”

She looked down and around her in thought.  “I… don’t know, but.. LET me come!”

“Well, if you insist, then come.”  He opened the door and looked around to see that most of the doctors and nurses were on break.  He motioned to her and they started to jog down the halls and stopping by each corner to check for anyone coming by.  Scarr put his hand up to halt Kursed as a doctor was coming down the hall in their direction.  He then went down the left hall across from Scarr and Kursed, and they jolted down the hall as fast as they could.  They were almost caught by a guard from around the next corner, but managed to hide in a storage closet and wait until he left to go back on patrol.  Scarr opened the door and motioned to her again and they ran down the flight of stairs.

They came to the lower main hall and stopped as the nurse behind the counter was talking to a customer.  "Ok, if we're going to get out of here, then we're going to have to get past her."  Scarr whispered to Kursed, pointing to the nurse.

"I see... but what will we do?  Disguise ourselves?"  She asked whispering back to him.

"That's probably our only choice.  It's either that, or we risk being chased leaving as we are."  He quietly responded.

"I'd rather be chased than go unnoticed..."  She whispered.  She turned and saw a guard turn his head to them, tilt his head, and slowly advanced to them.  "Scarr, I think we might have to leave as of now!"  She said.

He turned to her and saw that she was looking at a guard coming in their direction and nodded his head.  "Alright!  Whatever you do, don't respond or notice them!"  They jumped over the baricade and started running for the door.  They heard the nurse yell to them, but they ignored it.  Then, the door sealed shut and locked before they could reach it, and a metal wall slammed in front of them.  "We're TRAPPED!!"  Yelled Kursed, trying to find a way out.  Scarr turned around and put his hand to her shoulder.  "If you can find another way out of here, NOW would be the best time!"  He said to her.  "Wha-- Oh my..."  She began as she saw several guards fourty yards away from them with their guns drawn, aimed right at them.

Chapter 8

Scarr stood his ground as the guards stopped and aimed directly at them.  Kursed, on the other hand, was searching around for an exit, but to no avail.  "Damn... there's no way out...!"  She muttered slamming her fist into the metal wall.  Scarr looked over his shoulder at her and then back at the guards.

"And just WHERE do you two think you're going??"  The lady behind the desk asked, walking through the guards and up to Scarr.

"We have our reasons for leaving, miss.  Just let us go!  We're fine!"  Scarr said to her, motioning to Kursed and to himself.

She smirked and shook her head.  "I can not allow that.  It's against safety protocols to let patients go unnattended."

"Well, you HAVE attended to us enough...!"  Kursed chimed in, turning and advancing to her.  "You can see that we're able to stand and that's quite enough for the both of us!  What else is there to be cured from us...?"  She exclaimed, patting herself on the chest.

She walked up to Kursed and looked at her straight in the eyes and tilted her head.  "...You're Krystal, aren't you...?  The team member that abandoned Team Starfox several years ago, correct?"

"WRONG!!"  Kursed said, pushing her away.  "I didn't abandon them...!  I left for my own reasons... NOT for you to know of..."  She said, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Kursed!  That's enough."  Scarr whispered to her, still looking at the guards.

She looked at him crazy and turned to him.  "What?!  You want me to just stop what I'm saying and let them take me away again..?!  NO!!! I refuse to let that happen!!"  She said, raising her voice to him.  "...You don't know what I've had to deal with for these past few years..."  She muttered, looking down and clenching her fist.  Scarr turned his head to her and squented his eyes to her.

"That's not what I'm trying to tell you..."  He said.  She looked up at him and then to the guards.

"Then... What are you saying then...?  For us to surrender to them and be taken back to our rooms...?"

"No...Duck down!"  he said, slightly shoving Kursed and turned around;  raising his hand to the wall.  "DIA-TORMA!!!"  He yelled and a blinding fireball rocketed from his hand and blew a hole in the wall, just big enough for the two of them.  The guards, and the woman from behind the desk, all fell backwards when Scarr did so, and he grabbed Kursed by the arm.  "C'MON!!!"

They got up and the jumped through the door and started sprinting away from the hospital as the guards emerged from the hole in the wall and opened fire on them.  Shots rang by, but they continued to run as fast as they could.  "JUST KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN AND RUN, KURSED!!!"  Scarr yelled to her as the shots rang by them, increasing in numbers.

"JUST MIND YOUR OWN BUISNESS AND RUN!!!  I'LL BE FINE!!"  She yelled back, looking at him.  As they were about to cut a corner, a stray shot landed in Kursed's lower calf and she fell down onto the ground.  "AHHH!!! SCARR!!!"  She yelled to him, crawling around the corner, leg limp behind her.  He stopped and ran back to her, and helped her up.  Shots were still firing and he put himself under her arm and carried her around into an alley way, and sat her down.  He sat down beside her in a dark corner as the guards ran by outside and they stopped right around the corner.  Both Scarr and Kursed pressed against the wall and slowed their breathing as they heard them start to approach.

"Where did they go?  Anyone know?"  One of the chimed from around the corner.

"No clue... SPLIT UP!!!"  The commander ordered and three guards jogged past Scarr and Kursed, who were in the corner conceiled in the darkness.  Kursed pressed her head against Scarr's shoulder and bared her teeth as the wound started stinging and burning.  "...ugh..."  She choked out, and Scarr put his hand to her head and watched as the guards continued to run by.  Kursed put her hand to the wound and tried not to yelp as the pain shot through her leg.  She winced in pain and she gripped Scarr's coat, causing him to look down at her and rubb her head; trying to calm her down.

"Shhh... just take it easy... they're about done with their search..."  He whispered to her, still rubbing her head.

"I know... but... it just..."  She quietly stammered out, squeezing his coat.

"It will be just fine... hang in there... you aren't going to die..."  He said gently holding her head and resting his on top of hers.  "...not on my watch..."

They waited until everything went quiet and Scarr looked around to see if the coast was clear.  He peered around the corner where the last guard came by, and walked back to Kursed; who was resting against the corner, holding her wounded leg.  She looked up at him as he made his way back.  "Are they gone...?"  She muttered out.

"Yes, I do believe they've given up.  Let's get to a more 'secretive' place so they won't come back and search here again."  Scarr exclaimed, extending his hand out to her.

"...Agreed..."  She said, and pulled herself up to him.  She gripped his coat again as she set her foot down on the ground, causing pain to shoot up her leg.  "ARghhh... this is going to be a little hard for me, Scarr..."  She explained to him, holding onto his arm while standing one leg, and pointing to her gunshot wound in her calf.

"Yeah, I noticed."  He replied, putting her arm over his kneck and helping her walk.  They walked until they came to a clearing and he rested her against the wall.  "Just lift your leg up a little so I can get a look at how bad it is."  He requested, kneeling down by her leg.

She nodded and slowly lifted her leg, grabbing herself against the wall to stop herself from falling.  "..Can.. Can you tell how deep it is by it's current state...?"  She asked, closing her eyes and looking away.

"You probably just got some meat torn off, but maybe nothing major."  He said putting his hand outside the wound, trying not to cause Kursed to yelp or snatch her leg away.  "If I'm hurting you, just slap me or do something to let me know."  He said, reaching into his coat for something.  He gently rested her leg down and pulled out a few kits.

"What... are those?"  She asked, looking down at the supplies.

"Oh, these?  They're just med's I keep with me if I managed to get hit by a projectile;  like what just happened to you."  He explained, fumbling around the small packettes.

She looked off while he searched and thought about what all has unfolded before her:  I'm being chased and accused for something I've never done, and I'm being aided by someone I don't even know... Seems like there is still light down the tunnel for me still... Just have to follow that path or I'll be stuck as the dark traitor I am and continue this life as a rutheless bounty hunter.  She then looked down at Scarr and sweetly smiled to him, while he had his hand to his mouth slowly looking around for the right kit.  I'm just glad I met him.  He's as caring and protective as he can be, and is willing to risk his life for mine... Reminds me so much of a certain someone I use to know...

"Ahhh-HAAH!"  He triumphantly said, picking up a sliver med-kit with blue writing on it.  "Hand me your leg again, and I'll patch you right up, Kursed."  He said, holding out his hand.

"Ok."  She replied, lifting her leg into his hand, ignoring the pain that shot up through it.  He opened the pack, while her leg rested on his knee, and pulled out a small stick of a morphine and set it down.  He, then, sat down a roll of styrilize tape, along with a roll of wrapping tape.  He snapped a small piece off and slowly rubbed it on the open wound on Kursed's calf, covering it.  He reached down and wrapped it in with the wrapping tape, and finally wrapped the upper and lower parts of the wrapping tape with styrilize tape.  He rested his hand on her leg and slowly stood up.

"Thank you, Scarr... I appreciate it."  She said, stretching her leg, and looking up at him.

"No problem.  Now, let's get out of he--"  Before he could finish, she wrapped her arms around his kneck and hugged him.  His expression changed blankly and looked down at her;  rubbing her head gently.  "C'mon... now is not the time for this."  He whispered, his eyes looking around and slightly blushing.

"I just wanted to say thank you... for what all you have done for me... and getting me this far..."  She muttered, looking up at him, and letting go of him.  "If it weren't for you, nor Wolf, I wouldn't be standing here... and I thank you VERY much for that..."  She said looking down and tear rolled down her cheek.

He gave her an apologetic smile and wiped the tear away, and rested his hand on her cheek.  "Listen, I'm not letting you get harmed, but you're a tough person.  There will be times that I will have to keep my distance so that you will have to take things into your own hands, but for now, I'm not leaving your side until I feel comfortable for you to travel on your own."

"I understand... but... it's been so long since anyone's stood up to me and confessed to me about anything... So I have to do something in return."  She said holding his hand, that was on her cheek, and looking back up at him.

"Like, what?"  He asked, tilting his head and staring down at her confused.

"How about this:"  She replied, putting her hands to his cheeks and locking lips with his.  Scarr starred down shocked, blushing, and closed his eyes; going along with what she was doing.  They unlocked their embrace and she looked into his eyes, seeing what he was thinking.  All she saw were the times they had spent together, which were only brief, like this, and where they were now.

His eyes remained closed as he tried to force words out.  "I... I... don't know what to say..."  He stammered out, opening them to see her in front of him smiling.

"You don't have to say a thing, Scarr.  All there is to say is, 'Thank you'... Which I've already said and done for you."  She answered for him.

Scarr scratched the back of his head and turned around, trying to catch his breath.  "...Been awhile since I've done that... Well, I guess we'll have to get out of here somehow..."  He whispered to himself.  He turned back around to her and walked up to her.  "Ok, now that we've gotten a little ways from the guards from the hospital, do you have any place that we can keep a low profile and tread lightly for awhile?"

"Hmm... I don't know a place at the moment.. BUT... we can look around for a place that will suit us for awhile."  She exclaimed turning and looking around at the buildings around them, and down streets.

"Well... I, uhh, guess time will tell if we manage to stumble across one, huh?"  He said, as he started to pace himself a bit down the sidewalk.

"Yes, it does seem that way..."  She muttered, knotting her hair as they walked.  A few minutes passed and she couldn't bare the akward silence that had sucomed around them, so she had to speak up.  "So, Scarr,"  She started.

"Yes?"  He slightly interupted, turning his head to her.

"What's the story behind yourself?"  She asked, fiddling around with her necklace.

"...Do we have to go there, Kursed...?"  He muttered, looking away, and looking a bit upset; remembering the demise of them.

"Well, if you don't want to, I'll tell you mine..." She said, gripping her necklace, and looking up at him.

"I... really don't want to hear yours either... becaue it may cause me to break down also... which.. I REALLY don't want to happen..."  He said looking back down at her.

"Well... if you insist."  She said.  They continued walking until they came to a 200 story building that was half destroyed.  "THERE, Scarr!  This will do for now...!"  She joyously exclaimed, grabbing his arm and pointing up to the building.

Being tugged, "GAAA-ahhhh, ok, ok!  I'm coming!  I'm coming!"  He replied, following her.  They stopped at the front doors and peered through to see if there were people still inside, but all they saw were chairs and debris all over the floor.  "Well, let's go inside and check it out."  Scarr kicked the window out and stepped through, and turning to help Kursed through.  They walked around, separating to navagate the building.  "Radio me if you managed to find a good room."  Scarr announced to her over his communicator.

"Ok, I will..."  She replied back to him.  She pressed the elevator button to summon it, but the light never came on.  She tapped it again; nothing happened.  She looked around and bared her teeth, took a step back, and kicked the button in, causing it to spark everywhere.  Then, the elevator crashed on her level, causing her to stumble back.

"Kursed!! What on earth was that?"  Scarr asked conscerned through her communicator.

"...The elevators are down and... I, uhhmm... kind of overreacted with it not responding and... yeahhh..." She replied, looking through the doors that were half open from the elevator slamming against it.  She turned and started walking down the next hall and started checking empty rooms.

"Well, there's nothing where I'm at, besides only one bedded rooms.  How is it on your end?"

"Same... still nothing..."  She replied, looking through another one bedded room.  She continued down the hall, when she opened the door of room 66, and her eyes lit up.  "SCARR!! There's a room with three beds here!"  She announced to him.

"Really?  What number and I'll be there!"

"Room... 66..."  She said concerningly.  She had a bad feeling about the number when she started at it, and walked in.  That number... that's not a really good sign...  She thought to herself as a chill went down her spine.  As she walked into the room, it soon got extremely cold, and she started to shiver; holding her arms, and she could see her breath in there.  The atmosphere got denser and denser, causing Kursed to get light headed, and soon falling to her knees.  She could her people screaming in her head, which caused her to grip her head, and curl up, slightly wimpering to herself.  Tears flowed out down her cheek as she tried to get up, but was held down by something she couldn't see.  She looked around, vision blurred from all the screaming in her head, frantically to get the screaming out of her head, but all she could do was lean against the end of the bed and wimper as the screams grew more and more intense.

Scarr soon felt a disturbance in the air and increased his pace, soon finding himself standing before room 66, and slowly walking in.  The room was cold as the dead and heard someone calling out to him, but he couldn't see them.  The room soon swirled and he found himself hovering above his planet and zooming in on the escape pods being launched; seeing his parents being shoved away and seeing himself being launched into the atmosphere.  Then, he looked up and saw an object hurtling towards him, and it struck the ground around him, causing a blinding light along with a ear-splitting explosion, and he snapped to his senses.  His vision slowly came to, until he realized what he was strangling.

"Sca-...rr... What... a.. are you do--... DOing..??"  Kursed choked through Scarr's powerful grip.  She slowly started to pass out, until he let go of her, and she slumped into his arms.

"Kursed!  I'm... I'm sorry, I... I didn't.."  He stammered out, realizing what he had done.  She was too exhausted, and drained of her powers to even respond.  All she did was put her hand to his chest, and smiled weakly.  He then felt a bit woozy and gently rested Kursed down on the bed, and put his coat over her.  She curled up under his coat and, soon, dozed off.

Scarr walked back to the door, and caught himself against the wall; nearly falling out at the door.  "Ughh... There's something not right about this room... something that I can't seem to sense out, and there seems to be... more than one in here..."  He muttered.  He pushed himself off the wall, stretched, and sighed.  Then, everything went akwardly quiet, and he heard a low sinister laugh, and was pushed out of the room; tripping on the way out.  The door slammed shut behind him and he jumped to his feet, punching the door.

"KURSED!!!! NOOOO!!!"  His voice echoed throughout the building and out into the streets.

Chapter 9

Scarr slammed his fists into the door as hard as he could, but it wouldn't open.  He barred his teeth as he got up and started to ram it with his shoulder.  He slammed into it, growing more and more determined to break down the door.  "I... will NOT let you have them... WHOEVER YOU ARE!!!!"  He yelled, as he jumped back and kicked the door as hard as he could, but was thrown against the wall by an unknown force;  causing a hole in the wall, knocking nearly unconscious.  Scarr staggered to his feet and he punched the floor, causing a small hole.  His hands spread apart and he started shaking, causing the whole building to rumble, and debris bouncing off the ground.

"You...are... NOT... taking her... AWAY... from me..."  He muttered, teeth bared.  "I.. WON'T... Allow it..."  He slowly rose his head, and his pupils started glowing a bright scarlet red, and he slowly rose to his feet.  Soon, a fiery aura formed around him, and increased it's intensity; forcing his hair to stand up up and coat flapping violenty.  He rose his hand to the door and clenched his fist, and the door crumbled down.  He stepped through, aura still around him, and seeing Kursed up against the wall, holding her throat and turning red.  Scarr's eyes grew wide whenever he laid eyes on the scene, and she slowly tried to reach out to him.

"H...H-helpp...m-m-...ME!!!"  She hoarsly gagged out.  Before Scarr could respond, she was flung across the room, and through a wall; into the next room.  "KURSED!!!"  He yelled, and jumped through the destroyed wall; fearing the worst.  He saw her laying on her back, motionless, and gasping for air.  He came up to her, and knelt down beside her, helping her sit up.  "Are you alright?!"  He dryly asked, forcing his aura to fade.

"Let's... Let's get out of here..."  She stammered out as she gripped onto his arm.

"I knew you were going to say that... and I agree, let's leave here..."  He said, helping her up.  "...There's just something not right about this place..."  He whispered to himself.

"Scarr..."  She whispered to him.

"Yes?  What is it?"

"That room... is a witchcraft room..."  She explained looking back in the room horrified.  Scarr never looked, but only forced Kursed to start walking out of the room.

"...Let's not worry about that, and just focus on finding another room.."  He ordered, rubbing her back.  She nodded, silently agreeing, and they both left the room, and split back off.  "If you find a 'better' room, just contac-"

"Yes, I already know..."  She muttered, cutting him off and disappearing around a corner.  She stopped and looked at several rooms on the next hall, but still; no two-bedded ones.  She sighed and started walking up the stairs to the next floor, since the elevators were out.  Wiping her hair out of her face, she turned on her communicator and contacted Scarr.  "...Any luck yet?"

"Ugh, nope!  Nada, yet."  he chimed to her.  "Just a lot of destroyed rooms with one beds in them.  You'd THINK that this building would have a two-bedded room somewhere."

"Hmph... I know..."  She chimed back, and opening the door to the next floor.

The next floor wasn't as bad as the bottom floor, but it still had debris everywhere.  Kursed continued down the hall in front of her, stepping on glass as she went, and halted in the middle of a hall, whenever she heard chattering somewhere.  Her ears perked up, and rotated in certain directions, trying to find the source, and she cautiously continued.  As she went on, the chatting became louder, and louder, and she pressed up against the wall, and drew her blaster out.  She picked up a piece of glass, blew the dust off and slowly angled it around the corner to see what it was.  She could see four GPF troopers stationed on that floor, along with a Recon unit.  She whipped the glass back around, and threw it down the hall.  She flipped on her communicator, and tuned in on Scarr's transmission.  "...Second floor... opposite side of the buiding..."  She whispered.

"What?  What's up--" Scarr started.

"JUST GET UP HERE...!!!!"  She angryly whispered back to him.  She turned it off, and gripped her blaster with both hands, as sweat dripped down her head.  She took a big breath, and sighed.  She swirled around the corner, and aimed her gun at them.  "Pick-a-boo!"

Scarr started running after he recieved Kursed's message, and came to the stairs on the opposite side of the building.  He walked up them, blaster drawn, and eased up as he started approaching the door.  There were shouting and yelling, then a round was shot; causing him to kick the door down, and blind-firing around the left corner.  He heard three 'THUNKS' and he looked over to his right.  Kursed shook her head to him behind the corner, and closed her eyes, and looked off.  He bared his teeth, and ran around the corner, threw his gun aside, and tackled the trooper.  Glass crunched under them, and Scarr got on top of him, and started pumeling him with punches.

The trooper struck Scarr on the side of his head with a baton, knocking Scarr off him, and getting up.  He kicked Scarr in the jaw causing him to fall onto his elbows, and spit blood out.  He walked over and picked up his rifle, and aimed it at him, but was struck in the side by several blaster shots.  He glanced over and saw that Kursed, standing around the corner with her blaster smoking, holding her side with blood coming from her hand, and she shot rang out another; striking him in the chest.  Scarr saw his opportunity and shoulder bashed the trooper against the wall; grabbing him by the neck, and smashing his head in the wall.  The trooper, then, slid down the wall and was pinned back against the wall by Scarr's knee.  "So, do you have anything to say for yourself...?"  Scarr huffed out, spitting blood onto the trooper's visor.

"Yeah... I do... Goodnight..."  He panted out, and pulled out a blaster, and shot Scarr directly in the chest.  He staggered back, holding his chest tightly, and staring back at the trooper baring his teeth and falling down on one knee.  Kursed stood shocked for a few moments and walked up to the trooped, and kicked him onto his side.  He glanced back up at her, but met a blaster right in his face, and she pulled the trigger.  He fell to the floor onto his back, and twitched his hand.  She bared her teeth and rang out a few more into the trooper's chest and head.

Scarr, still on the floor on one knee, tightly gripped his chest, while blood trinkled through his hands, and his shirt stained a dark red.  "Arrrghhhh... god... d*****!"  He said, and rose to his feet and put his hand to the wall.  Kursed rushed over to him, worried after seeing him be shot.  "Are you alri--"

"JUST...argh... I'm fine... Only a gunshot wound.."  He interupted her while walking away from her.  "I should be asking you the same thing..."  he chimed back in.  "How are you feeling."

"Just a cut on my hip... nothing too major.."  she exclaimed, taking her hand away from her hip, and walking back up to Scarr.  "We really need to get you somewhere so we can attend to that."  She said, looking down at Scarr's hand covered red.  He nodded, and he started down the stairs, back to the first floor.  Kursed, while following right behind him, felt a disturbance in the air, and she stopped before walking to Scarr's side.  She looked around, but she couldn't pin-point where it was, and she continued following him.

Then, out of nowhere, Scarr stumbled back after a loud 'BLAM' and windows shattering, and fell onto his back.  "WHAT the...?"  He shouted, and jumped to his feet.  "What was that???"  He asked becoming more alert.  Kursed tapped his shoulder, and he turned to her.  She had a serious look on her face, and she shook her head to him.

"This is it, Scarr... There's nowhere to run..."  She murmured, pulling out her staff, and whipping out her blaster.

"Wha...What are you talking about?"  He stammered out, and pulled out his sword; emitting a red aura.

"They're here..  The Recon unit sent out a distress signal before I could shoot him..."

"So, they're RIGHT outside??!!"

She lowered her head and gripped both her staff, and her blaster.  "...Precisely..."  Lights started flashing and headlights glowed through the windows in the main hall, as both Scarr and Kursed remained standing right in view.

"KURSED!!!  AND THE OTHER SUSPECT WITH YOU!!! COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP, AND LOWER YOUR WEAPONS!!!"  The commando on the helicopter chimed in through the intercom on one of the main helicopters outside.  "IF YOU DO NOT COMPLY, WE WILL SHOOT YOU ON SIGHT!!!"

Scarr was about run outside, when Kursed grabbed him by the shoulder.  He shot his head around to her.  "What?  What is it?"

"Don't... there's no other way out of this..."  She muttered, looking away.  "There's a whole fleet outside this building, and not even I can take them out..."

"That's why you have --"

"I can't allow that... You've helped me this far... So it's time to set it aside, and take surrender... I'm worn out as it is..."  She started walking to the door, while Scarr just watched in shock by what she said.  She opened the doors, and threw her staff and blaster aside, and put her hands behind her head, and getting on her knees.  "TAKE HER IN!!"  The commando shouted, and troopers came and apprehended her in no time.  "NOW, FOR THE OTHER SUSPECT INSIDE!! DO THE SAME, OR BE ENGAGED ON SIGHT!!!"

Scarr bared his teeth, and shook his head.  He tossed his sword aside, along with his blaster, and made a break for it on the other side.  He jumped through the window, rolling around, and shouldering through the troopers, before being his by a tazer shot.  He fell to the ground and twitched, and the troopers were on top of him; apprehending him as well.  "ON your feet!"  One of them shouted, and jerked him up.  "Anything you want to say for helping a criminal?"

Scarr spit on his visor, "Yeah, Screw-- UGH!!!"  He was struck on the side of the head with the budd of a rifle.  "...heheh.. You guys just DON'T understand..."

"We do!  Now, shutup and get into the truck!"  The trooper responded, and loaded him in the back of a APC.  The door slid shut, and the truck sped off.  Kursed, on the other hand was being loaded into one of the helicopters with a commando.  "Uncuff her."

"What?"

"I said, 'UNCUFF HER!'" He ordered, and she started rubbing her wrists after being uncuffed.  "We have a few things to discuss--"

"Just can it... I've already heard this before..."  She murmured, looking away.

He sat back and crossed his arms, "So, you want to be accused of killing the mayor of Kew?  Or would you rather help us find them?"

She whipped her head around to him and looked at him in shock.  "You... You know who it is?"  She stammered out.  "Then... Why are you capturing--"

"HAHAHhhhhahahaha...Nooooo, no no no!  We aren't capturing you; we're taking you back to HQ so we can be debriefed."  He leaned closer, "The reason why we're acting like we're taking you custody is because there were news choppers ALL AROUND us.  So don't think that this phoney excuse for an arrest."

She nodded and leaned back.  "Can... you wake me when we get there?"  She asked, closing her eyes.

"Yes, we will.  It's going to take about six to eight more hours to get there."  He replied.  He took off his helmet, and set it to his side.

"Thank...youuu..." She murmured, and dozed off to sleep.  The commando smirked and looked outside.  "We know you're out there, so we're coming for you..."  He looked down and frowned, "Meta-Kursed..."

Chapter 10

Moments pasted and the fleet of GPF helicopters flew in formation out of Darius City, and over the ocean surrounding it.  The commander continued looking down thinking back when they began the mass production of Kursed clones;  first starting off with prototypes that had mini dual gatling guns on each arm, prototype heatseeker missles on their backs, Mk. 1 rocket boosters that held Platonium Nitrate, very sensitive to organic material, and heavy-suited titanium armor.  Then moving on to upgrades:  Removing the dual gatling guns and replacing them with 10 mm machine guns on each wrist, upgrading the Mk. 1 boosters to Mk. 2, then to their most recent, Mk. 3, replacing the heavy titanium armor with durable kinetic metal that held around each joint.  Finally, producing their first perfect clone:  resembling, by appearance, to Kursed, adding an extra layer of kinetic metal, inplanting a personal generator for her to form energy blasts at will, removing and installing the newest rocket boosters, Mk. 4, inplanting fume jets to release excess steam building up inside the suit, and, finally, through countless experiments they finally reached their goal at creating their clone.

They had made the Kursed clone much more faster, stronger, smarter, and, ultimately, skilled than Kursed.  It was their prized possesion and had the privalege of naming it, "KAM-4".  Meaning:

"Kursed Assimilating Machine-Four..."  The commander whispered to himself, scratching his medium length beard, and looking out the window.  He watched as the other helicopters behind theirs kept their formations in order, and the propellers fapping loudly as they continued on to the GPF HQ.  He looked back around at Kursed, who was sound asleep with her head hung over and her hands clasped in her lap, and stared at her for a few moments before whipping his head around hearing on of his men calling out to him, "SIR!  I think you might want to hear this."  He said through his helmet communicator.

He shoved his helmet on and the visor slid down, along with the mouth piece.  "Bring it up on screen."  He ordered, and window blipped up on his visor, and he slowly pressed his hand to his earpiece as he listened on to the news.

"At approximately only moments ago, the Galactic Police Force, formerly known as the GPF, captured the well-known assaliant, Kursed,  Her mugshot appeared to the reporter's right from downtown Darius City;  along with this unknown accomplice.  Scarr's picture appeared beside Kursed's but it was an amateur photo.  As we speak, the GPF are escorting Kursed, along with the known assaliant, to their HQ for interogation.  Sources have come up and told us that Kursed is wanted on several accounts of murder, robbery, and theft, but no records are showing from her accomplice.  More is to develop.  Back to you, Judy."  The reporter signed off, and the commander pulled his helmet off, and bared his teeth, "Stupid idiots... ALWAYS getting the wrong picture of us.  Must they always think that we're helping them?"  He asked shaking his head.

"By the looks of it, sir, I'm surprised they haven't noticed our Kursed clone on the loose."  The pilot chimed in, looking only a second over his shoulder at him while he piloted the helicopter.  The commander nodded, and clenched his fists in his lap.

"It's only a matter of time before Meta-Kursed, or KAM-4, locates Kursed and exterminates her.  But we have to prevent that at all costs, given that KAM-4 doesn't respond to our orders and has gone rogue."  He informed his peers and put his helmet back on, only to hear the news still going.  "Turn this s*** off, already..."  He growled and the pilot thumbed-up to him.  The news cut off, and he slid his visor away from his face, and looked back at Kursed.  She snorted and slolwy rose her head up, still a little drowsy, and looked up at the commander, "Mmm... Are... are we there yet...?"  She groaned, scratching the back of her head.

He asked his pilots the time they have left, and shook his head, "Negative.  About two more hours.  I said we will wake you whenever we are thirty minutes in."  He replied back, and she folded her arms and looked out the pilots window from where she was sitting.

"Why are you helping me...?"  She happened to ask while the commander was fiddling with his blaster pistol.

He looked up at her, while leaned over examining it, "If we can't stop her, and you refuse, along with your accomplice--"

"Scarr has nothing to do with this!"  She said, raising her voice and cutting him off.

He rose his hand to her, "Let me finish first.  If you refused to help us and your 'friend', sound better, then everyone and everything you know would be destroyed;  friends, family, homes, and even planets.  All destroyed in a matter of hours."  He explained to her and she slowly looked away a little upset.

"I... do not have a family.  The only family I have is myself and no one else..."  She murmured and gripped her sides at the thought of her parents diing.  The top compartment to the blaster slapped shut, causing her to jump a little and look down at it.

"We have actual records showing that you have no history behind you, but most criminals do."  He said forearms on his knees and looking up at her.

"But, I'm not a criminal!  I'm being accused--"

"We know this already, Kursed.  That's why we're trying to help you find out who is framing you for a murder, but we have an idea of who's doing it."  He informed, looking through the files on his visor.  "This is who we think is the actual perpetrator."  He said to her, and turned the holographic picture to her.  She squented, trying to get a better view, and gave him a questioning look.

"A... robot...?"  She stammered out, slightly chuckling.  "You have GOT to be joking..."

"We're not.  It's a clone that has gone rogue from a recent mission that caused it's ordering systems to malfuntion, thus causing it to go on a rampage."  He replied looking down at his feet, and clasping his hands together.

"Clone?  What type kind of clone?"  She asked, looking back at the picture and staring at it for awhile.

He looked up at her and stared at her, making Kursed look back down at him suspiciously.  "A clone of you, Kursed."  He exclaimed.  "He used a sample of your DNA from a previous event back on Kew, and used this to create an abomination that we regret creating."  As he said this, her eyes grew wide and she slowly sat back in her seat, and looked down at her hands.  They were shaking from the realization of what it was.  "We're... really sorry it had to come to this."  He apologized to her, and cut the hologram off.  "We will do what all we can in our power to--"

"Why did you even create that blasted machine in the first place!!??" She yelled at him.  "Knowing full well that it would soon disobey your commands and form a mind of it's own!!!  What's GOTTEN IN TO YOU PEOPLE!!!???"  She said, slapping his pistol out of his hands and standing up.

"Listen;  we wanted to create a machine that--"

"Oh, that's rich... create a machine that you wanted to kill me with.  Am I right?  HUH??!! Well, guess what, pal.  You can take your sorry excuse for helping me and just SHOVE IT!!!"  She exclaimed, pointing at him and walking away from him to the pilot's controls.  He stormed from his seat and slammed her against the hull of the helicopter.

"Now, LISTEN, God******!!!  We didn't want it to come to this, but it WASN'T OUR IDEA, ALRIGHT!!?  Blame the Kewians for that and the Lylatians have agreed to help!!"  He yelled back to her with his hand to her shoulder, keeping a firm grip on her.

"What do the Cornerians have to do with this..??"  She asked, trying to break free, but was slammed back against the wall.

"They've heard the incident relating to the mayor's death back on Kew, and they've volunteered themselves, without asking, to help take you down!!  That's why we're trying to prevent such a situation from happening and we need your help at dealing with a problem we can't stop."

Kursed tilted her head slightly and half grinned to him, "...The clone of myself, right?"

"Affirmative.  That's the one."  He let go of her and Kursed straightened her suit out.  "Get your things together.  We're almost at our destination."  He ordered her and walked back over to his seat, and started gathering his equipment.

***

Back on one of the transports, Scarr sat in the back, head hung over, and staring at his cuffs on his hand.  "Hey, pal!  You ok back there?"  The passenger joked to him, sliding the seal back and looking at Scarr.  Scarr slowly looked at him and stared for a second before raising both his middle fingers to them, "Eat it and be happy."  He whispered.  The passenger laughed and slid the seal back shut, and Scarr lowered his hands back down, and stared at the wall in front of him.

I surely hope that nothing redundants going to happen.  Tehhh, like there's not going to be a shootout whenever Kursed escapes that helicopter she surrendered to and was hauled off... But there was something about her back there that just didn't seem right:  She acted too calm and assertive to fight, and she gave up without a struggle.  He looked up at the ceiling and shook his head.  You know, Kursed... You make me wonder about you sometimes.  Never know what you'll do next.  But... I guess that's how a true bounty hunter acts.  The transport haulted and the two men opened the back hatch in horror.

"HEY!!! Do you know to use a gun???"  One of the asked, looking around the truck and back at Scarr.

"Uhh, yeah, of course.  What's the deal?"  Scarr asked, rising a little to his feet.

"No time!  JUST GET OVER HERE SO I CAN UNCUFF YOU!!!"  He yelled to him, and Scarr walked to the edge of the transport, and the soldier uncuffed him.  "Here, take this!"  He said, and tossed Scarr an assault rifle, and he pulled Scarr around the corner and pointed at a figure no more than ten clicks away.  "You see that thing right there??"

"Uhh, it's plain as day.  Of cour--"

"SHOOT IT!!!"  He ordered and Scarr rang out a few shots, but the rounds ricochetted off the figure.  "It's just what the commander said:  'It's invulnerable to weapons' fire!'"  The soldier said and started backing away slowly.

"Just what is that thing...?"  Scarr whispered to himself as the figure started to slowly turn in his direction, and it's triangular eyes glowed a menacing green.  "That looks like--"  But before he could finish, an energy blast collided with the transport truck, and caused it to explode.  Scarr was lifted off his feet, and was about to his the ground until the figure swiftly grabbed him by the shirt.  "Just... What are you..???"  He asked, staring back up at the mechanical figure that was staring back down at him blankly.

"I am the one that will exterminate all.  I... will kill you..!!"  It responded, and lifted Scarr off his feet and held him in the air.  He went to grab his sword, but it flung him across the street and into a store, crashing through the window, and staggering to his feet.  It turned to him and rose it's hand to him;  a red energy ball forming in it's hand and it tilted it's head, "Now, you die!"

***

Back on the helicopter, Kursed was getting ready when a red light started flashing against the helicopter, and the commander looked up.  "Oh, no... It's already attacking Darius City..."  He mumbled, and he pulled on his helmet, and snatched his rifle; storming into the cockpit.  "Change course back to Darius City!"

"But what for comma--"

"JUST DO AS I SAY!!!"  He ordered, and the helicopter started veering off to the left, and aiming towards the city, along with the other helicopters following it.

"Just what's going on??"  Kursed asked, catching herself against the hull of the ship, and looking at the commander bewildered.

"Remember that clone I told you about?  Well, it's down at Darius City!  Apparently it was tracking you down and couldn't find another way to follow us, and was stranded on the ground."  He explained while handing Kursed a few shield modulators and ammo batteries.  Kursed just stood still, a little shocked, while putting the ammunition onto her belt, and placing the rifle onto her back.

"T-tell me again how strong this thing is...?"  She stammered out.

He stopped what he was doing and looked at her, "I'm afraid that with even your friend's help, it won't stop it.  We do not have anything else to resort to, so we're trying to send a distress signal out for help."  He said while his face twisted in regret.  He turned back around and started tightening his gloves and chest armor, while shaking his head, "I'm truely sorry it had to come to this..."

"We're ten minutes out, sir!"  The pilot said, and the commander turned to him.

"Get everthing prepared for our arrival.  I don't want KAM-4 to be disappointed with the fleet we're going to bring in."  He said, and the helicopter started leveling out.  Soon, the hatch unlocked and the door slid open, wind gusts blowing through the door, and causing Kursed's hair to flap around wildly.  "ARE YOU READY, KURSED?"  He asked, while the wind started to pick up.

"YES!!  I'M READY AS I'LL EVER BE!!!"  She responded, and stood behind him.

"HERE, YOU'LL NEED THIS!!"  He said, and handed her a small backpack, which she strapped onto her back.  "IT'S A JETPACK MECHANISM THAT WILL HELP SLOW DOWN YOUR DECENT!!!  LET'S GO!!!"  He explained, and jumped out the side.

Kursed stood for a moment while several bad feelings pasted through her.  She couldn't come to herself without nearly breaking down.  "Ma'am, are you going?"  The pilot said, and she turned to him.

"Yes... Just a moment..."  She replied, and turned back around.

"Just make it snappy!  I don't want that thing to spot us still mobile in the....."  His voice trailed off as Kursed sat in thought about what's going on.

Is this really happening...?  Am I really helping a police force that tried to kill me, and now I'm helping kill a being they created?  It's... just too unreal to even fathom.  I'm being chased one moment, and then turned around and helping them;  all to get possibly killed while helping.  She walked up to the side of the helicopter and looked off.  Well... at least I'll go down knowing that I helped someone... and... not go out as a criminal.  This is it... this my time to prove that I'm a true savior...  Here goes!

And with that said, Kursed leapted out of the helicopter, and started hurtling towards the ground.

Chapter 11

Everthing was silent around the coastal part of Darius City.  A few pieces of rubble fell to the ground from constant shockwaves of explosions and collisions with other buildings.  Soon, the windows started shaking since the fighting off towards the shore grew nearer and nearer, and then it was upon the scene of the major battle that was soon to ensume in the coming hour.  Scarr's body flew across the road and skidded to a stop; staggering to his feet, blood dripping from his lip, and gasping for air.  He tightly gripped his sword, arms shaking, and threw it behind him, causing it to clang loudly and skidd to a complete stop against a lightpole.  He never blinked as he watched Meta-Kursed slowly draw near him with an orb of green energy pulsating in her hand, and holding it off to the side.  Her reflection was seen in his eyes as he watched her rear it behind her, and threw it at him.  He dove out of the way, but was struck by another; sending him soaring in the air, and grunting while in midair from the impact.

He slammed into the ground with so much force that it caused a large crack in the ground.  He rolled over on his side, wincing from the impact, and coughed up blood on the road.  He smashed his fist into the concrete and forced himself to rise to his knees, only to be kicked back onto the ground, onto his back; staring up at the metal clone of Kursed, as it's Emerald, robotic eyes glared back down at him.  She rose her foot and stormed it down against his chest, causing him to gag and flinch.  "It's Useless.  Tell me where she is, or you WILL suffer death very soon!"  She ordered him, pressing down harder.

He glared back up at her with one eye, and coughed from the pressure.  "I... Don't know where she--"

"LIAR!!"  She yelled, and pressed down even harder.  "I'm growing VERY impatient with you.  You aren't even worth my time to even fight off until she gets here."  She let up a little bit for Scarr to breath, but kept it down at a good amount.  "Tell me, or I WILL finish you off!"

He weakly chuckled, and looked back up at her.  "I'm serious... I... have NO clue where she is..."  He clenched his fist as he glared back up at her, not even blinking.  "Kill me... It won't accomplish anything for you."

Meta-Kursed's eyes flashed and she removed her foot, but snatched him from the ground by part of his shirt and coat up into the air.  "Final warning:  Tell me!"  She demanded, and tightened her grip.

Scarr didn't reply; he only spat onto her armor, causing her to form yet another energy orb and slamming it into him; causing a large explosion, and ripping off his coat and shirt, and forming several cuts and scrapes.  He tumbled around the ground and slid across the ground on his stomach and chest, and haulted in the center of the city.  He weakly rose his head, vision blurred from being so weak and out of energy, and watched her draw nearer.  He went to get up, but was hit by a slightly weaker orb, and causing him to rise to his knees; limply leaning back and staring down at her.  Her hand was rose to him, and fired off several more, exploding on impact, and causing Scarr to grunt after they hit.

"I have had ENOUGH with you unrelentlessly not cooperating with me.  As a result,"  She stopped and turned her body to the side, only having her arm and head pointed at him, and narrowing her vision to him.  "You... Must die." and after saying this, she continuously, and rapidly, fired out several orbs, exploding into Scarr, and causing him to wince immensely from the attack.  He clenched his fist, and with a final and mightly growl, he yelled in pain and slumped backwards as Meta-Kursed continued to bombard him with energy orbs.

*****

Kursed soared in the air for what seemed like an eternity, but she soon came close to the ground, and pulled the glider out, and glided a few feet down from the commander; who was setting checkpoint smoke out and ordering his men to their posts.  He walked up to Kursed, who was taking off the landing gear, and helped her take it off.  "We've located KAM-4, Kursed."  He said to her and he gave one of the corporals the gear.

She tightened her arm attachments, her gloves, and tied her hair into a knott.  "Where is she now...?"  She calmly asked without looking at him, but off in the distance.

"She's in the center of the whole city, apparently engaging the offensive on... what our sources have told us, your friend."  He replied back while having his hand to his communicator listening on to the information he was recieving from a scout.

She closed her eyes and slowly shook it, while Scarr's image appeared in her head.  I know that you're trying your best to protect me, Scarr... But... This is something I need to settle myself without your help.  You've helped me quite enough in the past few days we've spent together, but as of now, it's my turn to return the favor.  She thought to herself.  She went to start off towards Meta-Kursed's location, but was grabbed from behind on the shoulder.  She stopped and stared at the commander's hand, and stared back forward.

"You do know that you may die... Right?"  He reassured her, by squeezing a little.  "If you do manage to fail at exterminating KAM-4, then we won't have any other option than to nuke the whole area; destroying Darius City altogether."  She looked off towards the sea and slowly nodded her head.

"Yes... I'm... quite aware of that.  Thank you, though.  And... yeah..."  She dryly acknowledged him, and started off again.

"And Kursed,"  He began, and she stopped.  "...God speed be with you..."  She turned slightly to him, and slowly nodded, knowing full well that she may not survive.  He watched her walk off and then disappearing around the corner.  "Alright!  You," He ordered, pointing to a sergeant "Take your squad and take point Alpha around the center of the city.  You,"  He pointed to a Gunnery Sergeant "Take your squad and split off towards points Beta and Zeta!  The rest of you are with me!"  He finished and turned towards the soldiers prepped and ready, and pulled out his rifle.  "If Kursed doesn't manage to exterminate KAM-4, we will have to fend KAM-4 off until the strike team comes in and initiates 'Operation Kill-Box 40'!  Now, LET'S MOVE!!!"

Green energy orbs pummeled Scarr's limb and lifeless body as Meta-Kursed rapidly fired them towards him.  As she continued firing on to him, her sensors went off, and she slowly turned her head in the opposite direction Scarr was in.  "So, you have finally decided to show yourself."  She stopped firing, causing Scarr's lifeless body to steam and go lip laying backwards.  "He was becoming more of a nuicense to me.  I'm glad he's through so that I can settle my score with you, and accomplish my mission."  She whispered to herself and turned in Kursed's direction.  She waited, patiently, as Kursed walked into view, and Meta-Kursed's imbedded scope zoomed in on her; showing schimatics of Kursed's status, condition, and current abilities.  She stood still as she scanned Kursed and a confirmation sounded off for her; causing her to chuckle to herself.

Kursed heard her chuckling to herself, just barely, and glared at her.  "What's so funny, huh?"  She growled, pulling out her staff.  "Thinking the way I came alone is funny to you somehow?"  Meta-Kursed reared her head back and laughed histarically, and menacingly at Kursed's remark, and slowly began to lower her head.

"Ohhhh, no, Kursed.  The only reason I'm laughing at you is because of how easily this battle will be for me.  Honestly, and truthfully, I though you would be MUCH more stronger than this, but I suppose my scanners were wrong about your fighting capabilities."  She exclaimed to her, while tapping the side of her metallic head.

"Ahh, don't flatter yourself."  Kursed retaliated back to her.  "If you honestly think that you're much stronger than me, then I'd LIKE to see that!"  Raising her staff and going into a traditional Cerenian fighting stance, the ends of her staff soon formed saphire flames that silently crackled as she waited.  Meta-Kursed just laughed even more and stepped aside; revealing Scarr's body leaned back and limp.  Kursed's froze:  She knew that Scarr's lifesigns had vanished when she was keeping tabbs on him, but now she knew the reality of it.

Scarr had been murdered by Meta-Kursed, and this is something that would make Kursed strive to defeating her metal doppelganger.

"HAHAhahahaha!!!! Shocked, eh?  If you don't want to end up like him, then I would STRONGLY advice you to give up and let me finish you off without any restraints."  She snickered out while motioning to Scarr's lifeless body and raising her hand to him.

Kursed gripped her staff and narrowed her sights to Meta-Kursed, and bared her teeth, "You... wouldn't DARE!!!"  She growled to her.  Meta-Kursed huffed to her and formed an energy orb in her extended hand that was aimed at Scarr.

"He's already gone, you hopeless baffoon."  Meta-Kursed victoriously assured to her.  She grunted and fired the orb at Scarr, thus causing a large explosion and causing smoke to arise, and Scarr's lifeless body flying out of the smokescreen, and crashing through a wall.  "Don't worry.... You will be joining him SOON enough."

Kursed lowered her head and began to shake, while gripping her staff tighter and tighter, until her knuckles went white.  She sighed in anger from the sight of Scarr being finished off, and shot her head up at Meta-Kursed.

"Aww, are we upset now?  Does the baby need a--"

"SHUT YOUR TRAP, YOU MINDLESS FIEND!!!"  She screamed while firing off a fire blaster round.  Meta-Kursed slapped the round away and chuckled to herself at Kursed's remark she made to her.

"'Mindeless Fiend?' AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAaaa!!! That is such an obselete nickname for me, Kursed.  You HAVE to come up with something better than that!"  She joyously taunted back to Kursed, and folded her arms.  "If we are just going to sit here and taunt each other all day, then it is a days worth of destruction lost for me."  She exclaimed to her by looking away.  "To be honest, you are just a pion compared to me!"

"Oh really?  I'll show you who the 'pion' is, Meta-Kursed!"  She yelled to her and a dark aura began to form around Kursed as she grew more furious.

"Then let's see who the real Kursed is, shall we?"  She requested by extending her arms aside, and fume jets spraying smoke out.

"That we SHALL SEE!!!"  Kursed accepted and began sprinting towards Meta-Kursed, screaming and gripping onto her staff.  Meta-Kursed bent over and blasted off the ground towards Kursed with her rocket boosters, and increased her speed as they drew nearer to each other, until they collided blows with each other, and causing a massive shockwave to surge throughout the city.

Ok, let's get the fight going!  Song that plays while they fight

Chapter 12

After the initial shockwave, and the glass on the surrounding buildings shattering and cracking, both Kursed and Meta-Kursed were sent soaring to the side:  Kursed skipping across the road and slamming into the stone barrier, while Meta-Kursed caught herself against the wall, and kicked off of it; firing off her rocket boosters and zooming towards Kursed.  At the last second, Kursed saw Meta-Kursed approaching from her right and slapped her hands against the ground, thus sending her five feet in the air, making Meta-Kursed bring her legs forward, and sending out a long, fierce stream of rocket fire, stopping herself, then staring blankly up at Kursed;  still in midair.

With a twitch of her head, Meta-Kursed slowly ignited her rocket boosters, again, and rose up towards her opponent.  Kursed bared her teeth and used her telekinesis to keep her in the air, as they stared each other down.  Kursed waited for her to make the first move, but without warning, Meta-Kursed struck her stomach with tremendous force.  Kursed, shocked at what had happened, curled up slightly and gagged out blood that splatted on the ground below them.  She slowly glanced over at Meta-Kursed, their gaze aligned, and pushed off of her fist, then swiftly returning Meta-Kursed's attack:  a powerful knee to the gut.  Meta-Kursed's upper body, along with her head, leaned slightly in from the attack and remained motionless.

Kursed, sensing the attack did nothing, waited for her opponent to make her next move.  Sure enough, Meta-Kursed's left hand slapped down onto Kursed's knee and gripped it extremely tight; sinking her nails into her flesh.  Kursed cringed from the pain, then sent a left-straight towards Meta-Kursed's face, but was caught as it neared her.  Meta-Kursed slowly rose her head up towards Kursed and slowly pushed Kursed's fist to the side; matching her strength.  Kursed slung her left leg towards Meta-Kursed's side but was deflected by a quick defensive knee, by Meta-Kursed; knowing that this attack was a fatal error Kursed had done.

Meta-Kursed sank her nails further into Kursed's leg, causing her to cringe even more, and attempting to send another punch with her free hand, but as she was doing so, Meta-Kursed threw Kursed's captured blows aside and swiftly slammed her head into Kursed's stomach.  Kursed, eyes wide from the attack, shook it off and wrapped her arm around Meta-Kursed's neck in a DDT move; hurtling them both towards the ground.  As Kursed started to counter her opponent's move, Meta-Kursed formed an energy orb in her right hand, slamming it into Kursed, sending her soaring away, and crashing into the road; leaving a long trail of destroyed concrete in her wake, causing dust and smoke to rise up after she landed.  The ground rumbled from the impact and Meta-Kursed slowly descended to the ground, turning off her boosters, and her fume jet hatches shot open sending steam flowing out as she began walking towards her downed foe.  As she walked towards Kursed, she formed another orb in her hand, and the fume jet hatches shut closed.

Kursed slowly opened her eyes and looked around at the smokescreen that blocked her vision.  Pieces of the road were clacking into the long, semi-deep trail she laid in, and Kursed slowly pulled herself forward; struggling to rise to her feet with cuts all on her arms and cheeks, along with rips on her pants and cuts on her legs.  When she managed to stand up, she collapsed back onto her knees and began coughing, then gasping for air as she looked back up, seeing Meta-Kursed's silouhette through the smoke cloud.  She rose her left knee up and placed her foot down, pulling herself up, and staggering backwards; trying to shake off the crushing blow she absorbed.  She bared her teeth slightly as she watched Meta-Kursed appear through the smoke cloud and stand in front of her about ten feet away with the energy orb pulsing in her hand.

"Whats the matter, Kursed?"  Meta-Kursed asked "Getting exhausted, are we?  Then I will help you feel more relaxed."  The orb in her hand decipated and she clenched that hand into a fist.  Kursed took a step back, but Meta-Kursed was in her face in a split second.  Kursed, stunned seeing her opponent this close, jumped away, but was grabbed on her boot, and was slung back in, meeting Meta-Kursed's fist against her face; plowing the punch through and stalling in midair.  Meta-Kursed looked over her shoulder, then spun around slamming yet another energy orb against Kursed with more force, but sent her crashing through two buildings before plowing out of the wall, and bounced off the ground.

Meta-Kursed locked onto Kursed through the holes in the building, igniting her boosters, and flying past the debris; drifting around and behind Kursed as she bounced off the ground, and up to her level.  Kursed sensed Meta-Kursed about to attack again and spun around, shielding herself.  Meta-Kursed caught onto Kursed's tactic and zipped over above her head, then vertical kicked her to the ground.  Kursed laid on the ground motionless for a few moments, then her fingers twitched, and she groaned under her breath as she rose up on her knees and forearms.  She stared at the ground in pain as she watched, and felt, drops of her own blood fall to the ground under her, along with the gash on her head trinkling blood down her forehead, and down off the sides of her cheeks.

"I was right after all..."  Meta-Kursed exclaimed, touching down and her fume jet hatches flying open, hissing steam out.  "You are weaker than I anticipated you to be.  Given the circumstances,"  She rose her index finger to Kursed's knelt over body "You don't stand a chance against my more advanced structure and abilities.  If you want me to stop, then allow me to finish you off and it will be all over before you realize it."

"Nothing *Huff* ... Is over... *Huff* When you're... still... alive..."  Kursed stammered out.  "Even if... you manage to... kill me... you... will be going out... with me...!"

"Oh, really...?  I would love to see that occurance happen.  IF it gets to that point."  She chuckled back to Kursed's explanation.  Kursed clenched her fists to the point her knuckles went white and her face tensed in extreme anger:  Meta-Kursed's taunts echoing constantly in her head.

"I... Will not... lose to a... clone of myself..."  Kursed angrily growled out through the constant pain surging through her.

"What was that?"  Meta-Kursed dryly asked tilting her head at Kursed's response.

"I..."  The same dark aura that had formed around Kursed days ago, formed around her.  "...will NOT"  The ground shook and cracked even more around her, glass from vehicles to buildings shattered, and her arms started shaking.  "...lose to a..."  The aura grew larger and pulsed more brigher, her hair slowly rose up, along with her furr.  "...CLONE OF..."  Her eyes flashed and began to glow even brighter than before.  "MYSEEELLLLFFF!!!"  She reared back, yelling out, and the aura sent out a blinding flash that caused Meta-Kursed to shield her eyes from the light, standing her ground as Kursed continued yelling, and debris flying all around them.

With one last furious yell, Kursed curled up into a ball and all the debris that was flying around them halted in midflight, as she slowly lowered her arms to her side, legs also slowly lowering, and her head hung over with the dark aura surrounding her.  Meta-Kursed cautiously lowered her arms and shockingly looked around at everything floating around her.

"What is the meaning of this??!!"  She frantically asked herself.  "Is it a magic trick or something?  Then it's a good one, if it is!"  She exclaimed, and soon saw Kursed's disturbingly limb, and still, body floating in midair with a large dark aura around her.  Meta-Kursed brought up her energy signaturator and began scanning Kursed's current energy levels; growing shocked as the levels grew and grew.  "This... This is not happening!  THERE'S NO WAY SHE CAN BE THIS POWERFUL!!!"  She angrily observed, raising her voice.  The indicator beeped wildly as the levels kept growing.  "Eight-thousand... Nine-thousand... No... Eleven-thousand... And it's STILL RISING!"

As Meta-Kursed struggled to fix the setting on her scanners, Kursed rose her head, eyes glowing a menacing purple, and she slowly looked over her shoulder at her foe.  Meta scanned Kursed a final time and took a few steps back, leaning away from her.  "This...  This is impossible!  No matter how many times I scan her, it still reads at 40,000:  Triple that of my own limits!!"  She horrifically said to herself.  She watched as the debris continued to float around her and bump unnoticingly against her.

"Is it fear or arrogance that compells you, Meta...?"  The entity asked, mixing it's own voice with Kursed's.  It turned Kursed's body completely around to Meta and slowly floated to the ground, body hunched over except her head, which was angled at Meta.  As soon as she touched down, the debris quickly dropped to the ground and some of it consuming Meta under it.  The entity in Kursed tilted her head slightly, the debris exploding away from Meta, and she rose her hand to her foe;  grabbing her in a telekinesis vice-grip.  Meta tried to break free of the entity's hold, but couldn't break free.

"UNGGH!!  Let... Me go!!!"  Meta angrily demanded, squirming around the vice-grip.  Kursed kept a blank expression as she started to slowly close her hand, intensifying the grip on Meta.  Sparks flew as her suit started to be crushed under the emense pressure, and she started yelling from the pain.  Kursed stopped herself from closing her hand, quickly motioning her hand to a building, and Meta was violently thrown through the wall of the building to the right of Kursed.  She tumbled around inside and smashed into several food isles, knocking over the shelves and products smashing open.  She slowly looked up as Kursed, with the aura around her, blasted the entrance to the store apart and walked in, sending debris flying everywhere.  Meta staggered to her feet and brought up both of her hands, forming energy orbs in both of her hands.

"I would like to see you try..."  The entity growled to Meta.  "You're just wasting precious energy by forming those...  It won't save you from your iminent death..."  It was interupted by the orbs exploding on impact against her, and smoke consuming Kursed's figure.  Meta tried to get a confirmed lock, but was slammed against and through the glass door with the drinks inside by Kursed's vice-grip.  She stared back at the smokescreen and Kursed slowly walked through;  hand raised to Meta.  "...Which will soon be upon you...!"  Kursed lowered her hand and swiftly was upon Meta, grabbed her face, and started charging through the store;  smashing Meta through every wall, every glass door, and finally exploded through the other side, and threw Meta across the road.

Meta struggled to rise up on her elbows on the ground, but managed to rise up somewhat and stare down at Kursed, "Is...  Is that the...  Best you can do??"  She stammered out as Kursed blankly stared at her with her purple glowing eyes.

"It never is...  "  She hoarsly responded and turned entirely to Meta, beginning to walk in her direction.  "...Even with your 'more advanced' capabilities, it doesn't stand a chance against what I'm holding back..."  She stopped a few feet away from Meta, allowing her to rise to her feet.

"Holding...  Back?  What are you talking about...?"  Meta, confused at Kursed's explanation, clenched her fists and reared them back; lined up against her hips.  Green lights started emitting from her hands, a charging noise hummed out, and she held her arms out to the side;  forming two large energy orbs that made the whole street glow a flourescent green.  Kursed, hair flailing around due to the wind picking up, made her aura much larger and she began to glow purple, while standing her ground.  "I will NOT be beaten by an inferior being that I was cloned from!  I... Will NOT allow it!!"  Meta said aloud and brought the orbs together, forming a much larger orb.  She aimed it at Kursed and her fume jets sprang open, shooting steam out.  "Here, Kursed!  TAKE THIS ON FOR SIZE!!!"

Meta fired the orb and it hurtled towards Kursed, but she didn't even budge from her spot.  She brought her right arm to her side, as the orb neared, and as the orb was no more than five inches from her face, she swiped it away;  exploding on the side of the building next to her, sending dust, debris, and smoke all around them.  Meta stared in amazement as she watched Kursed smack it to the side and took a step back in horror.  "Impossible...!  That...  That could not have happened..!  It COULDN'T have!!!

"It couldn't have, you say?  Then why am I still standing?"  The entity asked, walking through the smoke and standing in front of Meta.  "I'm going to tell you this once...  Give it up..."

"NEVER!!!"  Meta screamed, jumping back a few feet, and rapidly firing several orbs at Kursed;  all of them hitting and kicking up smoke.  She fired a final orb and caused a small explosion that caused the ground around them to shake, and throwing up more smoke.  She stood still trying to find Kursed through the smoke, but couldn't see her due to the smoke's interferance.  Suddenly, Kursed zipped through the smoke and slammed her knee against Meta's chest, sending her approximately fifty feet away, skidding on her feet.  "UGGHHH!!!  How did--"

"It would be a good idea if you paid more attention..."  The entity said and Meta shot her head up, being slammed against her head by a tremendously powerful punch, and sending her soaring through the air, above the road, and crashing into the GPF transport, causing it to explode on impact.  Kursed, head turned in Meta's direction, stood still after successfully punching Meta, and waited patiently for her to emerge.  Meta remained still staring through the flames and smoke at Kursed and stumbled out;  collapsing onto her knees.

Where did she get this enormous amount of power so quickly??!!  Meta frustratingly thought to herself and looked back up at Kursed, who began walking calmly towards Meta;  her aura still around her and her eyes glowing the same menacing purple.  If this keeps up, I don't know how much longer I can withstand it!  I HAVE to find an alternate before I get exterminated by her worthless hind!  But...  What could that 'alternate' be?  She rose to her feet and struggled to bring her hands up, forming two more orbs in her hand.

"You seise to surpise me with your pathetic efforts to survive...!"  The entity slapped Meta's hands down and brought her up to her face.  "I'm giving you ONE MORE final chance to give up...  If you refuse to do so...  Then it's curtains time for the GPF's successful clone..."  Meta, staring back down at Kursed and slowly kicking her feet as she was lifted up, grasped Kursed's arm with both of her hands, trying to pry herself free.

"I can't give up!!  NOT EVEN THIS ONCE!!!"  She yelled over being choked.

"...So typical...  And for that it's lights-- UGH!!"  Before the entity could finish, Kursed started to regain control and the entity fought back.  "N... NOOO!!!  It's NOT your time yet!!  I'll finish her off for-- GRAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!"  Kursed dropped Meta down and grasped the sides of her head, staggering away, and she lifted off the ground;  yelling and fighting the entity out of her.  Meta watched as Kursed send out a blinding flash and collapsed onto the ground onto her knees, along with on her elbows, and gasping for air.

"Hmph...  She's back to her old self now, huh?  Well, I guess I should cut this short..."  Meta got up and began walking towards Kursed's downed body and hovered to her side.  "Are we finished here?  Or do I have to make you suffer some more?"  Meta asked, standing over Kursed.

"Neither...  We're just getting started...!"  Kursed stood to her feet and looked back at Meta, triumphantly.  "Shall we begin where we left off?"

"Indeed.  But I don't know why you insist on continuing,"  She got down into her fighting stance,  "knowing full well that you are still no match for me, and you WILL die."

"Oh, we'll see...  I still have some fight left in me and I'm not just going to give up right yet."  Kursed retaliated back, getting down into her fighting stance as well, and grinning at Meta.  "Let's make this a memoriable one...  One that the both of us will NEVER forget..."

"As you wish...  Sister..."  Both Meta and Kursed swiftly, and powerfully, connected each others' fists and sent a shockwave that shook the ground around them.  Everything slowed;  Kursed jumped back, still grinning, and Meta jumped forwards toward Kursed.  "...And so we begin!!  She exclaimed and they met upclose;  Muzzle to muzzle.
