not bad, Kursed...your car sounds like a car a friend of mine used to have

as for fuel cell/hydrogen cars...I heard hybrid/fuel cell cars don't get as much MPG as a traditional gas cars

I also heard hydrogen cars explode (at least the old[er] ones did)

Whats youre view on fuel cell or Hydrogen cars?

That's an interesting question. I'll try to give a short answer.

If you're referring to those who use hydrogen to make electricity, and then use it to power an electric motor, then the problem is much the same as with an ordinary electric car. The enviromental damage caused by producing and recycling the batteries we have now, makes them worse than ordinary cars. But I'll say that they are probably better than chargable electric cars, since they don't need as big batteries as those.

From my point of view, there are only two alternatives that are possible to use as a replacement for petroleum combustion engines.

1: Keep the combustion engine, but make it run on something else than gas or diesel. Ideally hydrogen, wich have been proven to be possible, if not exactly easy.

This is the solution I would prefer, mostly because very little would change. I far prefer the charm of a combustion engine to a silent electric motor.

2: Battery techology takes a leap forward. And it is now possible to make them more efficent, and with less harm done to the enviroment. Making it possible to create an electric car wich does not work backwards when trying to protect the enviroment.

It will indeed be a sad day for all petrolheads, exspecially the muscle car fans like me, when the gasoline V8 finally disappears from the face of the earth. But, it seems the car/entertainment show Top Gear have a solution.:D

The V8 in this video is actually kind of a decendant of the one in my car. A bit more powerfull, but not as loud.

I've been totally selfish lately, in lusting after a Mini Cooper convertible that we have at a car lot in town. It has a bunch of neat features, and my cousin owns a Mini Cooper, herself... I'm thinking of asking her how it drives and stuff, on the EXTREME off chance that my parents agree to work with me on getting this car.

Anybody here know anything about them?

I haven't tried one of these myself. But from what I've heard, they're brilliant little cars. They are the best handling FWD car on the market today, they hold their value extremely well, the quality is good, they use little fuel, funky, cool interior, and if you stay away from the old 1.4 diesel and go for the 1.6 petrol, excellent engines as well.

On the downside, they are extremely cramped in interior space. Tough they have grown a lot on the outside compared to the original Mini, they inside hasn't keept up. The convertible have a even smaller luggase space.

... still has more cargo space then my motorbike.

I've got a trusty '85 Honda XL350R. Bought it two years ago, not running. Worked on it for a year, now it's fantastic. It thinks it's a Ducati, and I'm not gonna burst it's bubble!

I have some pics around here somewhere... I'll post as soon as I find them.

And yes, I realise it's technically not an "auto". I just like to show off my baby!

Convertibles have infinite space! With the top down :) Small interiors is how I roll, I dont think I could drive any car with a full sized front end, in terms of parking it. But yeah, right now, I'm driving a hard top Volkswagen Beetle,  so. Small cars are just what I do

But thanks for the info! I'll keep that in mind. :)

You're welcome. If you like them, go for it! You won't regret it.

My sister has one...they're pretty cute, I never got to ride in it, ironically.  They seem okay...truth be told, I wish I had one sometimes.

You don't want a convertible, as nice as they are, they leak after a while.  Plus, the down top makes you more vulnerable to car jacking, and stuff like that.

Good thing people dont get car jacked around here. >_> I live in a very small town, and I'd be the only blue, convertible owner. They'd be retarded to steal it from me, because it's the only one.

BUT, our criminals arent that dumb

Also, I'm not really all that worried about it leaking. It's usually not practical to have the top down around here anyways. (Like the past two days, it's been raining cats and dogs! In winter! Brrr! But yeah, it's not really a big deal.

Ah...I'm from L.A., tho, carjacking and crime here are stratospheric.

The only time anything has ever been stolen from my car, they just stole my wallet, even though there was more valuable stuff in the car. >_> See? Our "criminals" are stupid as bricks.

Just got hold of the latest issue of Norway's largest car mag today. The new Mini Cooper was crowned to be the best small used car one could buy. Reliable and fun, the only downsize was again, the size.

You know what is kind of cool? There's a textbased online car game that have added MY car to the game. Not just that model or year either, THE exact car.

You have to register to get in, and it is all in Norwegian. I'll try to post a screenshot soon.

Ok. That sounds better then trying to make my way through a Norwegian car game anyway.
