IArmoredSnowWhiteI
I watched The Hunger Games again yesterday, cause I just finsihed the book trilogy. Kinda weird to see the actors almost all don't look like the people in my head. Can't wait till Catching Fire in October though

Redeemer
It was indeed a fantastic film. I loved that tiger. Richard Parker. :3
mjakob42
Finally got around to watching Argo, which was this year's Best Picture winner. For the most part it was pretty good - not sure if I would have given it Best Picture, but I need to see the other nominees before I make such a hyperbolic statement. I wasn't all that pleased with the first half hour of the film mostly because it seemed like nothing but joke-cracking between Ben Affleck, Alan Arkin, and John Goodman. I've nothing wrong with humor, but for a film like Argo, I feel the film should have taken itself a bit more seriously. But once Affleck arrived in Iran, that's when the film really got started. Not going to exaggerate one bit: Argo has some of the most amazing suspense I've ever seen. It stiffens you up and keeps you on the edge of your seat for the remainder of the movie. Overall, I have a few nitpicks here and there, but otherwise it's definitely worth checking out. 3/
LoneWolf
Interstella 5555. It might be a movie without words, but hey, the music is by Daft Punk. Good lord, love this movie. Simply the best.
Icy
R3d and I watched Super 8 last night. It was really good! I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The monster reminded me of the Cloverfield tyrant, it was so impressive and horrifying. But then it revealed its eyes and I was like "great now he suddenly has personality". But it worked out, of course. I just enjoy a good old monster slaughter fest sometimes. XD Ohh yes, one of my favorite movies! I first saw it in theaters and got so attached to the characters, it was crazy. Not many things really do that to me. I need to get around to renting Skyfall soon. I've watched the Danial Craig Bond movies, so I do need to see it, regardless of what critics/fans think. The past couple of nights I've been rewatching the Nolan Batman trilogy. Brilliant, as always. I also finally watched Cloud Atlas. It's really great. Critics didn't really like it, apparently, but man, I loved it. Before that I watched The Ghost Writer. Great movie. It'll keep you guessing till the end. Great acting and an awesome atmosphere.
Prince Elite
If I may delve into the films of the past, based on the past. I've recently watched two WW2 set films Schindler's List and The Pianist. Schindler's List is set mostly in German controlled Krakow, Poland and focuses on a industrialist, Oskar Schindler who profiteers from the cheap Jewish-captive labour force for his factory, but eventually is unable to tolerate the German atrocities and takes favour with his workers. The Pianist, also set in Poland is centred around Władysław Szpilman. A Jewish-Polish pianist and his struggles to survive the Nazi regime. Both films had great messages and were very well made. Both Liam Neeson and Adrien Brody who played the main characters of Schindler and Szpilman respectively earned Academy Award nominations (in Brody's case, he won) for their roles. Though tragic, they were great films and portrayed well the events of that era. I recommend them both to the un-squeamish and historically interested viewer. Dublinthefox
Recently I watched a movie by Troma whom you may know as the makers of "The Toxic Avenger" and "SGT. Kabuki-man N.Y.P.D.", called "Poultrygeist", and all I can say is it is one of the best movies I've ever seen!
Snys93
Just a little tidbit I discovered about the new Star Wars trilogy. J.J Abrams wants to go back to how Star Wars used to be, tactile and less CGI like before Lucas made it all sh*tty. What we wanted: What we got:
Drasiana
THAT BOTTOM GIF WILL NEVER STOP BEING HILARIOUS I'M GOING TO CHOKE Cool movie news: Apparently an adaptation of Sleeping Beauty has been greenlit that involves Aurora fighting her way out of a nightmarish dream world. Yes please.
Faisul
If I may delve into the films of the past, based on the past. I've recently watched two WW2 set films Schindler's List and The Pianist. If you ever get a chance to you should take a look at Come and See. It's a lot more slow-paced and, well, Russian, than Schindler's List and the Pianist, but if you're into holocaust war drama this is an indispensable example of the genre. I'll be taking a look at Interstella 5555 due to the recommendations in this thread. Thanks for the heads up! I can't believe I missed this movie growing up. StarFoxfan-FUR_ever
I went to see "Identity Thief", I can say with confidence it not a safe movie for kids to watch. Nonetheless it was hilarious in a really twisted manner. Not something I would go back to watch again, because the very next day I woke up thinking: "What on earth did I see last night, and why?" Does anyone have a suggestion as to a movie that I could watch with a date by any chance?
ballisticwaffles
Dat bottom Gif. Anyway, If anyone is jonesing for a really good action film, go watch The Raid: Redemption, which is a solid hour and a half of nothing but awesome. It is an Indonesian film that ranks up there with Rambo and Predator in sheer manlyness. For those a little more intellectually inclined, The Besieged Fortress is about a colony of Ants and a Colony of Termites duking it out to see who has the biggest insect Penis. Its also shot like a disaster film. Go watch it.

I adore The Raid: Redemption; I saw it for the first time last month on television and bought the DVD shortly thereafter. I find it funny how there is a fellow in my neighborhood that shares an uncanny resemblance to Tama.
StarFoxfan-FUR_ever
Did you miss the part of my post where I said I wanted to take someone on a date to see a movie, Waffles? Snys93
I don't know if this'll work, but I will see the up coming God of War film. Just as long as Paul W.S. Anderson DOESN'T do it. Another thing, you can't really make a movie of these games. They are already cinematic. But if done right, it'll be good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9v9UoTc2Ug
ballisticwaffles
Did you miss the part of my post where I said I wanted to take someone on a date to see a movie, Waffles? LOL action film, yes, exactly what every woman in the world just LOVES to go see =p i think it comes to a point where assuming that just because its an action film that the moer estrogen inclined 50% of the world immediately doesn't want to see it is a cancer that is killing the world. My girlfriend enjoys playing violent games to the point of absurdity. We have watched cheesy action films together and really serious action filams and have enjoyed it very much. It boils down to having fun with someone that you want to spend your life with them. Stop being the Cancer that is killing the world and find a girl that likes the things you do, so it isn't painful to take her out on a date and you can have some fun with a significant other. So if you cant think of a movie that both of you would enjoy, reexamine your priorities. In the event that this fails to stick into your mind like a drunkenly lobbed dart, then here is a list of relevant movies to actually keep this topic afloat. Kingdom of Heaven Sophie's Choice The Crying Game Vertigo Psycho American Psycho The Maltese Falcon The African Queen The Big Sleep Aliens Predator Amadeus Immortal Beloved Kung Fu Hustle Goldeneye Up Finding Nemo The Patriot Shawshank Redemption The Shining Mary Poppins Duck Soup Rambo Animal Crackers Day at the Races Nightmare Before Christmas 2001: a Space Odyssey The Wall Gladiator The Eagle Barry Lyndon Mongol Zulu Yellow Submarine Mystery Science Theater :The Movie Evil Dead, all of them.

LOL action film, yes, exactly what every woman in the world just LOVES to go see =p Women don't like action movies? Bitch, I write them. CrypticQuery
edit: I actually came in here to ask if this topic should be moved to The Picture Room The Picture House seems to be better suited to threads on specific movies as opposed to something as general as this thread. Also, do attempt to articulate your opinions in a less harsh fashion in the future, Dras; I'm fairly certain that we can grasp what you're getting at without the [possibly in jest] word-choice playing into your post's overall tone. Drasiana
I tell him not to be sexist and Waffles literally calls him "the cancer that is killing the world", yet I get singled out here? On-topic: They released some behind the scenes stuff for the next Hobbit movie today. I'm having trouble finding the actual video but from the stuff floating around Tumblr, Tauriel is a badass and Thranduil and Thorin hating each other is going to be the greatest thing on-screen this year. That is also a lot of people whose names begin with T, yikes.
CrypticQuery
I tell him not to be sexist and Waffles literally calls him "the cancer that is killing the world", yet I get singled out here? Not going to dispute this any further for fear of causing undue stress in this topic, though in waffles' context it is evident that he is using a large amount of hyperbole. Your post could potentially come off as a bit harsh. Just a suggestion. -- Concerning movies, I was recently able to watch The Seven-Ups [1973]. It is definitely one hell of a movie; if you enjoy any sort of crime-drama/car-chase type movies, you'd enjoy this one as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vACWV5sRcY
Drasiana
Should I start a different topic for general television shows in here? Or in there? I want to talk about some shows I've been watching but I don't know where to put a general TV thread now D: edit: Have a sassy Thranduil screencap from the aforementioned Hobbit stuff: Also, if I haven't mentioned it before...this dude? His name is Lee Pace. He also played a stuntman in a movie called The Fall, which looks like this: It is Scenery Porn: The Movie and you should watch it. It's got a nice story, too :B
StarFoxfan-FUR_ever
Here is the list of movies that will be playing on the day I plan to go out: ------------ Admission Olympus Has Fallen Spring Breakers 21 and Over Dead Man Down Jack the Giant Slayer Jack the Giant Slayer (in 3D) Life of Pi (in 3D) OZ: the Great and Powerful OZ: the Great and Powerful (in 3D) Snitch The Call The Croods The Croods (in 3D) The Incredible Burt Wonderstone The Last Exorcism Part 2 ---------- Out of those movies, which one seems good enough to you? Drasiana
Jack the Giant Slayer or Oz are probably safe bets for date movies; they're goofy popcorn flicks and nothing too dark/gross. Though if the girl you want to take likes dark/gross that's a different story :V
StarFoxfan-FUR_ever
That depends on her mood...but obviously a movie about a girl being abducted "The Call" would be entirely inappropriate for a date. But yeah, am I the only one who has noticed less families going to theaters because of the type of atrocity that is represented by the list of films I showed there?
