She didn't know that his daughter were only four years younger than her, and at least as capable of taking care of herself. But it was a nice gesture. Something he wouldn't take to lightly.They ate their breakfast in uther silence, it seemed like it wouldn't be as sunny a day as they had experienced previously. Some dark, threatening skyes were coming in from the north, and below them, a thick fog came up almost as high as the treetops. Once they were down in the jungle, they wouldn't be able to see much.Wolf emptied one of the coconut shells with water and put it in his backpack. "Our first destination is a river which runs down from the mountain on it's northwestern side. We'll fill up with water there before we move on to that building. Here, it was much less step than it had been on the southern side, and they could actually walk instead of climb. But they still had tied themself together in case someone slipped and started sliding down the slope of loose gravel and rocks.Wolf actually found this a bit annoying. If they had just walked around the volcano and climbed up on this side instead of the southern, they would have saved themself a lot of time and sweat. But that wasn't something they could have known on forehand.After a bit over an hours walk, they had reached down to the tree zone again. The fog they had seen from the top was as thick as he had feared. Luckily Wolf had a lot of experience tracking in difficult conditions, and had planned their route as good as he could from the top. He had calculated that they now needed to turn to their left and walk stright west until they hit the small creek which they could fill up with water."Keep close, we don't want to loose any of you out of sight." he said as he tied himself loose and signaled the others to do the same. The noise from some of the less trained in survival and tracking than him made an awfull lot of noise. He bet they could be heard almost a mile away by those blessed with sharp senses."Hurry up, and quiet down." He growled silently over his shoulder. Well knowing it would sound very backwards for some of them. But it sort of worked as the sound of their footsteps quieted down, and they didn't brush against the vegetation all the time.His one eye moved restleslly around the jungle, searching for any sign of imminent danger. His tall ears flickered back and forth, trying to pick up any unnormal sounds.One of the sounds he coulc clearly define as normal tough, was ripple of water running trough a small stream. And sure enough, after a couple of minutes, they had reached the small stream they had aimed for. Wolf keept a guard while the others drank and filled up their water carriers again, before he also bent down and took a deep draught.Once he rose up again and brushed away the excess water from his mussle, he pointed northwards trough the jungle. "That is where we must go if we are to hit that building we saw." One thing that had worried him when they where still up at the volcano, was a small strip in the trees, something that would suggest a river or a ravine, blocking their path. But he had chosen not to tell anyone about it, why he didn't know.Then, a long, pained howl came to their ears. Wolf twisted around to where he had heard it coming from, the south.That was the sound of those darned creatures which had attacked them the first night. They where on to them again. "Get a move on!" So what do you suppose those things are, Wolf?" Leon asked. "Seems to me like these guys are REALLY wanting something high on the food chain.... And I'm not one to be bargained of." He looked over his shoulder to make sure the others were keeping up and said, "C'MON, YOU WELPS!! DO YOU WANT TO BE PART OF A MONSTER ROAST??!!" Their cold shrieks and howls came all the time now. They were definatively on their tracks, and gaining fast."Hurry up!" he growled as he grabbed hold and showed the others past him, urging them to raise their speed.He didn't know when they would reach that strange line in the jungle, it could be everything from 10 to 20 minutes, and by the rate the their pursuers where gaining, they definatively didn't have 20 minutes. Julius has been gone for a couple of days, Catwings has unfortunatly run into the wall again, still trying to reach her and offer my support.
