The stereotyping of furries.

Okay then, this is a subject that has bothered me for quite some time.

I myself am a furry on a small level. While looking around the internet, I would have to be blind to not notice the amount of hostility toward furries in general. But most of time when I see people bashing furries, it leads back to one stereotype, that they are sex crazed furry fetish freaks.

While there ARE some furries out there that are like that, not all of them are, yet they are all subjected to this stereotype.

My quarrel here is why are furries in particular are singled out and are forced to be subjected to a sexual stereotype? Anything mainstream has had something of a pornographic nature made about it. I'm not praising this, I find this to be just........... wrong. But why are furries in general subjected to a sexual stereotype, when just as many other subjects in pop-culture have had things of a sexual nature made about them?

Especially in today's society, I can never find one person who isnt so sterotypical. I really find something funny when someone tries to prove there right when just because a big amount of people say it is XD.

When it comes to furries in the internet, it shows how many of these people dont realize how much any labels can involve sexual activities.

It's not just furries.

Homosexuals are often thought of as people who are extremely sexually active. This is the "Gay Lifestyle"  that the right-wingers lob at them.

Different genres of music have been considered as nothing but the glorification of sex from Jazz in the 1920s to Hip-Hop today, and not to mention the stereotype that musicians are druggies that will screw anything that moves.

It is not that these groups are being singled-out, it is that they are different and there is an element in these groups that is sexually active in ways that are not "normal." People remember "different" things more than they remember "same" things.

If you see two gays pounding each-other in an alley, it is easy to make an assumption, just as if you see two people dressed-up in costumes reminiscent of your high school mascot engaging in sexual activity sticks in your mind.

Also, the most vocal are the most heard.

Add the state of being uninformed, and you have a recipe for negative stereotypes.

There is something that has not been mentioned yet, so I will say it.

Some people hate these so called 'furverts' not because of their kink, but because they live down to expecations giving furries a bad name in the process. Not only that, but furverts tend to be a loud, arregant bunch who go on and on about their kink all of time and expect you to be suportive. Personally, I don't want to hear the details about their bazillionth sexual encounter, but to tell them shut up makes you a furry hater apparently.

In short, it's not the sex acts I don't like, it's the behavior. Games have n00bs, animation has wapanese fanboys, and furries have furverts.

I just think that tons of people are out in the world that you just have to deal with. I myself am a furry AND gay. so when someone talks crap about me. i just walk away. Furries and "regular people" are just different in tiny ways. 1) Furries look up "Stuff" on the internet. So do "regular people". I just think people should learn to deal with themselves.

A good example of this, and its gonna hurt me a bit to talk about her in this way, is a character from the series this fan base is founded on, Krystal. I think we can all agree she was designed to be attractive, she is, and god this hurts to say, she is large breasted, has a proportionate body, wears a rather tight, almost latex appearing suit, large, feline like eyes with what almost looks like a perfect, natural mascara, and the images of her, especially from Assault, could easily be taken as erotic, I personally don't view them this way, but I can see how they would be, and you can bet that is no coincidince. And its not just her this has been done to, anyone remember the old Disney's Robin Hood movie where Robin Hood and Maid Marien were foxes, they did the same thing there, and just about every other instance where there is a female furry character. This is just my thoughts, I'd love to hear other theories as I've thought about this a few times and like to hear alternate view points and see as many sides to a subject as possible.

Foot fetish has been around for years, some fatishes make no sence to me. Being eated, killed, crushed or a sexual attraction to fences. There are many theories to how these come about, the most common answer seems to be something happens when growing up, some have always 'known' though. I don't think it's a case of morals. Some kinks as seen as morally wrong, which is a culture issue, and all it means it that people hide the urges. 4eg Schoolgirls are common in japan and america, but in Blighty that will land you in hot water pretty quick.

I'll agree she was created to be attractive but she was not created to be a sex icon.  would a big fat ugly fox be attrative or even fun to play as?

Well, I just found another example of how the media picks at the sexual component of furries.

I was on my way to school this morning and I was listening to The Bob and Tom Show like I usually do, and somehow one of their conversations steered onto the topic of furries, and lo and behold, all they could talk about was the sex part of the fandom.

I guess that's media for ya, they always need something interesting to talk about, and I guess furries and sex take the cake.  :evil:
