If you place it in such a way that ventilation is compromised, then you can cause damage. This is true for PCs as well. These things are air-cooled, and if cooler air can't be brought in or the hot air removed, then you will have overheating issues. That can range from system instability to component failure.

I really wish furniture manufacturers knew this. Many desks have an enclosed compartment for the PC, and the only vent is on the back. Not good. Most PCs take in cold air in the front of the case, and blow the hot air out the back. I've had noticeable improvements of performance on machines in those things by simply opening the door....

about switching to the 360, i think that you shouldn't do it, because wii has many great games, but you just need to look for an game that fit in your tastes, and about starfox, trust on the big N, they will make something to solve the problem, but they won't "kill" the game, maybe starfox will skip wii (they won't do a game for wii, but for the next nintendo console), metroid skipped nintendo 64, and metroid still doing sucess, right? so trust nintendo and wait some time.

ya know a simple water cooled system could fix these problems

I totally agree!  A friend of mine took the door off its hinges on his compartment...but thanks for the info on all that, I almost forgot...
