Star Fox: The Next Generation Chapter 1

Tiberius

Tiberius walked into his room. Unfortunately, Logan had to leave to settle some family matters of his own. He doesn't blame him. Tiberius had to do the same thing not long ago. He sat back in his chair at his desk, and took a sigh. "Serena, give me a full dossier on Star Wolf. All current information, close relations, anything." he said.

"At thsi time Ti all we have is some of the members and what Odin had dug up on the new leader Freya O'donnel apparently the daughter of Wolf o 'donnel theres little info on herĀ  wolf has done a lot to cover up her identity."Serena replied as a holo panal displaying what info they had came up.

"Is there an image and a psych profile?" asked Tiberius.

"All i have is a image like I said wolf has really covered her up well even by my standards."Serena replied.

"Ti?"Krystal asked as she knocked on the door of his office.

At that moment, Odin walked into Tiberius's room. He had freshed up his skills a little in the simulators, it was well needed, he had been a bit stale. And now he had decided to check out how his teamleader was doing.

"We do know a couple of things about her. She's very well trained, and very convincing." He said as he strooked the still aching spot on his chin where she had punched him. "Sorry for barging in without knocking, the door was open."

"Looks like I may have to get one of my own then. Come in!" he said first to Serena, then outside to the person at his door, which he wasnt aware that Odin and Krystal were there. "Oh! Hello, mother. Hey, Odin." He stood up to meet the wolf. "Its alright for barging in. So... Trained and convincing? Trained maybe, but she wont be able to keep anything from me. Trust me. I may be a telepath, but I use my power on the field where they're most useful." he said. He noticed the spot he was rubbing. "That bad, eh?" He made a look of concern on his face for a second, then mellowed out.

"don't underestimate her , Ti knowing wolf he wouldn't let her get soft at allĀ  while on the field I imagine she gets a good workout as well"Krystal replied.

"Nah, don't worry about me." Said Odin as he let his hand fall down to his side again. "She's good. But I'm better.(Caught that reference?) We will run into them again. So much is given. The only thing we can, and should do is train together and do whatever missions we can get out paws on, so we are prepared when it does happen."

"So boss, what's the word?" Attila asked Freya as he and

Cliff joined the others in the briefing room.

"I understand." he said. "But I can see through things easily." said Tiberius. He walked out the door to the training room. He was getting ready to set up for the hardest training program they have.

(It seems Starwolf is stuck while Fira is busy. But I think Starfox should try to reach their destination soon. It's getting a bit boring just wandering around the ship.)

The room was just off of the hangar, and it was a mess. There was a makeshift table in the middle, just a slab of something or other propped up on crates. There were broken chairs all around, and the remains of a card game at one corner of the table. The walls were flanked by old crates and barrels, but it was bright and it was private. At one end of the room was a tattered chart stand with some paper on it.

Silver walked towards the chart stand and pulled a marker out of his vest. Freya was thinking about something or other, and Cliff and Atilla were bickering as usual. Silver sighed and prepared to lay out the mission for his team. It was less then 20 hours before they had to set out, and he wanted to get a good briefing done before everybody went off to sleep.

(I'm so sorry guys! My life kinda turned upside down the last week but things are back in order for now!)

Freya wandered over to the table and collected the cards as Silver walked to the chart. A stab of annoyance crossed her features. She was the daughter of one of the richest, most feared men in the system, so why the hell were they planning their mission tactics in a room full of garbage on chart paper? They could do better than this. She sat cautiously on the makeshift table, shuffling the cards absentmindedly, waiting to see what Silver had in store for them. She was somewhat surprised to see him pull a marker out of his vest. Why on earth would he need to carry a marker around with him?

(Nice to have you back Fira!)

Attila and Cliff joined Freya in the room.

"What are we gonna do, Freya?" asked Cliff.

Attila stood quietly, saying nothing.

Freya glanced up from the cards. She wasn't entirely sure what the plan was.

"We're gunna figure out how to make idiots out of the CDF. Not entirely sure how to send the clear message that it was Star Wolf that did it... maybe you've got some ideas?"

(Good to see you back, Fira, and it's good to hear you got things sorted out.)

Freya glanced up from the cards. She wasn't entirely sure what the plan was.

"We're gunna figure out how to make idiots out of the CDF. Not entirely sure how to send the clear message that it was Star Wolf that did it... maybe you've got some ideas?"

Silver finished drawing some basic diagrams on the board, then turned towards his team.

"All right guys, our mission here is to take out a cruiser with some important person onboard. That alone is easy, I could do it myself. However, that's not all. We have to make it obvious that this is the work of the Star Wolf team. And I think i know how."

he turned towards one of his diagrams, with a large "X" in the center.

"This," he said, "is our main target. Your basic Corenerian armored cruiser. rather then just blow it up, we're gonna board it."

The group seemed enticed by this.

"First, we'll attack from two sides. Freya and Cliff from here," he pointed to the far side of the target, "And Atilla and I will take the direct approach." he pointed to the other side.

"From long range, I'll launch in two Predator missiles, targeted at the cruiser's defense coordinator systems. After that, Atilla and I will engage the fighters and keep them occupied while you two sneak in and dock. head onboard, wreak havoc, and if you value your life, you'll keep in contact with us. I'll leave the ship-board tactics to you two, so you'd best start planning your attack." He tossed a datalink card towards Freya, which contained the floorplan for the cruiser they'd be attacking.

Silver flipped to the next page of his chart. it had two diagrams on it, both with long, swooping arrows.

"Now, after you guys" he nodded towards Freya and Cliff, "have finished up inside, the fun begins. I'll finish off the cruiser while you guys cover me, then we'll make a swift getaway."

"Pph? is that all?" Cliff asked.

"Not even close," Silver answered. "To destroy the whole thing, I'll need two careful shots with Phantom missiles. for this to happen, you'll all have to cover me from fighters while I roll in for my attack. I trust this won't be difficult for you 'ace' pilots."

The team replied with smug nods.

"Finally, we have the getaway. There will be about a dozen escort fighters with inexperienced pilots. Despite this, there is still a 3 to 1 ratio so be careful. After we clear up the 12, we can easily get away before re-enfocements arrive."

"Now, to overcome our numbers disadvantage, here are two basic TEAMWORK tactics." he motioned towards the board.

"The first is called the Thatch Weave. basically, if you get a fighter stuck on your tail, call up a teammate, then weave back and forth. if you hear somebody call for help and see them weaving, roll in behind them and turn opposite to them. You'll then get an easy shot at the enemy."

The group seemed to understand, even Cliff, surprisingly.

"Next, there's the yo-yo. It's pretty much the same as the Thatch Weave, but turned on it's side. All our fighters are more powerful then the CDF units, so don't forget to use that power to your advantage. never get into a turning fight with any mark of Arwing, or you will take hits. Keep your speed up at all times. It's your biggest advantage."

With a flourish, Silver slipped his marker back into his vest.

"Well, fearless leader, what do you think?" he grinned at Freya.

(Great Job, Showtime 1-1, that's awesome!)

Cliff gave the thumbs up, and Attila said "Now we're talkin'!"

(I don't understand that thatch weave...how exactly does it work again?Ā  goddamit, I'm sorry, I can't process information for s***Ā  )

(Is it "roll into position that's in tandem behind the teammate, then turn 180 degrees in a back-to-back thing" to fight the CDF fighters?Ā  and how do they "weave back and forth"?Ā  by hitting the brakes/retro rockets?)

(Good to have you back Fira. We've missed you.)

"Now, how long til we reach our destination?" Odin grumbled. He was pacing impatiently from one side of the room to the other. Like a caged predator.

(Thanks, Julius. In the context that I used the thatch weave there, it's more like a "scissors" maneuver. The leading plane does S-turns, pretty much making the attacker an easy target for another defender. Just think of S-turns. It's also on wikipedia if you want to know more.)

hmmm these guys have good advance lets go report this back.. bob

btw am i doing this right?

(No. Most certainly not.

One can't simply barge in unanounced into an roleplay. Especially one which have gotten as far as this one.

If you want to start learning roleplaying, I'll advice read Sabre's guides, post a character sheet here, and start roleplaying in an open roleplay, such as the Cornerian Bar.)

(That's okay. If you're interested in learning roleplaying, then start with small steps. Look how the more experienced roleplayers play, and learn from it. Participate in small, unformal roleplay, and above all, have fun.)

"Well, sounds like you don't have any questions. Freya and Cliff, you start working on your plan for once you're on the ship. After that, you might want to practice those moves in the simulator."

Silver pocketed his marker, winked at Freya, then turned to leave.

"Oh, and Atilla, you come with me." he said over his shoulder.
