Chapter 13

We were headed for Kew, and on the way, we were briefed on phase one of our plan.  We sat in the war room of the Galatae. 

"Shao Di Gong is sending an emissary of his organization, the Blood Moon gang, to meet with the leader of the Dark Star gang.  The Dark Star leader has always been the emissary of that gang, traditionally."

"They are meeting in Kew City, at Itoh Park.  The area is Dark Star turf, and will be heavily guarded.  We need to kill the Blood Moon emissary, and spare the life of the Dark Star Leader/Emissary, so he will be forced to take the blame for the murder."

"I wouldn't wanna be in the Dark Star Leader's shoes after we finish this part of the mission!"

"I could just imagine the look on his stupid face!"

"...Mr. Gong would be so pissed off, too."

Tigress: "The Dark Star gang is negotiating a deal with the Blood Moon gang, which is the reason for this meeting in the first place.  It's an excellent opportunity, with no room for error."

Todd: "We need to have a way to ensure we don't face any retaliation for killing the Blood Moon leader, otherwise we'll never make it out of Kew alive.  We gotta kill him, and, steal the infamous Golden Figurine, held by the Blood Moon Gang leaders for generations.  No leader has ever presided over the Blood Moon gang without possessing the Golden Figurine.  It's wielded like a scepter by a king.  Stealing it and killing Shao Di Gong will end the Blood Moon Gang forever."

We were in Kew's orbit.  We were over Kew City, focusing in on Itoh Park, watching it.  "Okay..first thing's first...who's going down there to execute the hit?  We need to keep a low profile, so let's be careful!  Remember, minimize the collateral damage, and whatever you do, DON'T KILL THE DARK STAR LEADER/EMISSARY!!  He must survive the attack, to take the blame, that's why we're abstaining from using Arwings in this attack."

I raised my hand.  "I'll do this." I said.  "Julius!?  I dunno about that, considering you still might be weak from your imprisonment on Venom..." Fox stroked his chin.  "Let him do it, Fox!" said Falco.  "I'm going with him!" said Edge.  "Okay...Todd, take them down in the Malestrom, and stay nearby, in case they need you for air support!  If they fail to attack the Blood Moon emissary, you'll have to take him out." Fox said. Todd nodded, and Edge grabbed his sniper rifle in its case and and backpack, and I had my silenced laser pistol in my holster at my side.

We followed Todd into the Malestrom, and soon we were dropped off a few blocks from Itoh Park, in Kew City.  It was a dark, rainy summer night. We got to the small, walled park, where there were large, round openings in the wall serving as gates. All the gates to the park were flanked by heavily armed Dark Star gang members, guarding the park, their leader, and the Blood Moon emissary.  The two of them were inside the park, walking around a small octagonal, ornate, well lit gazebo, surrounded by a small moat, with 2 bridges on either side of it.  Th e Dark Star Leader and the Blood Moon emissary were talking abut business, though I couldn't hear what they were saying in the distance, especially over the noise of the city.

"What do we do?" Edge asked, startling me.  "Ah!  Oh!  Well...I think..." I observed the Park Gardeners going into the park gates.  They were being searched, frisked for weapons by the Dark Star gang members, who protected the entrances.  "I'd try to sneak in using a gardeners disguise, but that would mean no weapons, and I'm not sure where to find their outfits.  Knocking one of them out and stealing their clothes is to risky, they might see through a disguise, up close.  We should use your sniper rifle to kill the Blood Moon emissary from a distance.  But there are snipers everywhere, and a good sniper perch would be hard to find." I said.

"I see a ledge over there, that would be perfect.  But there's a guard there, and the way to the ledge is blocked by a locked gate." said Edge.  "No problem, we knock out the guard by distracting him, and then I'll pick the gate lock, and you can climb up there and take your shot.  I'll cover you from the ground." I said.  Edge nodded, and we went into action.

I hid just outside the mouth of the alleyway, threw a pebble past the guard, into the alleyway.  It bounced off the locked gate with a "PING!". "Hey!  Who's there!"  The guard turned to look down the alleyway at the locked gate.  I sneaked up on him, and pressed my stun gun to his neck, knocking him out.  I then dragged his body to the locked gate, further into the alleyway, and then I used my lock pick to open the locked gate.  After I got the gate open, I took the guards hyper laser rifle, and dragged the guard into the walled in area behind the locked gate, and lay him at the foot of the ladder. 

Seeing the guard's face, I noticed he was a Wolf.  "Hey, edge!" I whispered to Edge as he entered the walled in area I was in with the guard.  "Yeah?" he whispered back to me.  I pointed to the guard's face, and said "I'll remove his coat, put it on you, and you can climb up there.  If any f those civilians in the street see you up there, wearing Dark Star Colors, they'll think you're just one of their snipers, so you can be seen up there with a rifle, even by the other Dark Star snipers, without attracting too much unwanted attention." I said.  Edge nodded, and we took the guard's black coat off, and put it on Edge.  He placed his backpack on over the coat, climbed up, and removed the backpack, and he took out his sniper rifle case, unpacked the sniper rifle, assembled it, and took aim into Itoh Park.

He fired, and I heard some screaming, swearing in the distance.  Edge quickly packed up the sniper rifle into its case, then he put the case into his backpack, strapped on the backpack, slid down the ladder, stopping one rung above hitting the unconscious guard below him.  I, in the meantime, held the guards rifle, and kept watch over the alleyway for Edge, in case any of the Dark Star gang members tried to attack us.

Edge removed the backpack, took off the cloak and draped it over the unconscious guard, and then put the backpack back on his back.  "Let's go!" he said, and we fled the alleyway.  We saw the limo of the Dark Star Gang fleeing the area.  I smiled, and got on the comm.  "Todd, pick us up over by that tunnel, on the other side of it.  We're done here!" I said.

Unfortunately, a flying vessel hovered over the area.  It was like a helicopter, without the rotors, both of its side doors were open.  A spotlight shined on us both.  A mean looking Dark Star sniper gang member, a hawk, glared at us from one of the open side doors of the vessel, it was like the side door of a helicopter.  The Dark Star sniper in that vessel then aimed his rifle at us.  "You sons of bitches!" he shouted, firing at us.  Edge and I took cover, but then a dozen Dark Star Gang members attacked us on foot, pouring out of the alleyways, and firing their hyper laser rifles at us.  Suddenly, the Malestrom fired its twin lasers at the Dark Star vessel.

BOOM!

The vessel was shot down, and the Dark Star Gang Members who were on foot, attacking us, now scattered in several directions as the vessel Todd shot down crashed in the street where they were.  Todd landed next to us, and the Malestrom door opened.  "Hurry!" said Todd, and I ushered Edge inside, and went in after him.  We flew back to the Galatae.  We had accomplished Phase One.

Chapter 14

The next night, the Blood Moon and Dark Star Gangs were holding a truce and business renegotiation meeting, this time on Blood Moon Turf, at a nightclub owned by Mr. Gong in that huge complex he lived in.  Danny and Joey Foxglove were very helpful in obtaining and providing this information for us, they were somewhere in Kew City, spying for us.  It wasn't raining that night.

We were going to ambush the Dark Star Leader/Emissary from the other night (the one we had to keep alive to take the blame for the death of that Blood Moon Emissary) and kill his six bodyguards, leaving no Dark Star Gang Members as witnesses to the murder of the Dark Star Gang Leader/Emissary, pushing the two gangs further into a war.

We landed our personal ships on Kew, Todd took, in the Malestrom, the team members who hadn't brought their personal ships with them.  The rest of us took our Arwings, Custom Arwings, or Aritech Fighters.  We landed near the nightclub.  Lola and Misty disembarked from the Malestrom, wearing showgirl outfits like this:

Misty's showgirl outfit was blue, Lola's was red.  I stared, smiling.  "Julius, you're drooling a river there." Falco teased.  "More like an ocean!" said Slippy.  "Yeah, I know." I replied.  Misty and Lola looked soooo hot!  After everyone was out of the Malestrom, Krystal was approached by Lola and Misty, who whispered in her ears.  Krystal nodded, and said "Where is it?".  "It's in the Malestrom, darling." said Lola. 

Krystal walked with Madame Vulpine into the Malestrom, and they emerged, Madame Vulpine in a red showgirl outfit like Lola's, and Krystal in a blue showgirl outfit like Misty's.  The guys cheered and clapped, especially Todd and me.  You're probably wondering why Lola, Misty, Madame Vulpine, and Krystal were doing this. Well...

Lola, Misty, Krystal, and Madame Vulpine were going to approach the guards on the street level, and dance for them, and distract the guards from both gangs who were watching over the nightclub entrance, as well as the guards watching the Dark Star gang's limousine.  Akasha would sneak up to the limo, plant the bomb, and wait for most of the guards to get back into the limo and drive back towards their turf.  I would detonate the bomb via remote control, as it passed me, and the two guards who would get out, upon the Dark Star gang's arrival, and stand guard at either side of the street leading out of Blood Moon Turf, back to Dark Star Turf.

The four girls in the showgirl outfits then each took a pair of either red or blue dancing fans.  "Break a leg!" I told them.  "Thanks, darling!" said Lola, kissing me on the cheek.  My legs turned to rubber, and I fell back.  Todd caught me.  "We got work to do, bud..." he said to me, chuckling amusingly. 

The Dark Star Gang arrived, stopping just at the edge of Blood Moon turf, and, true to Danny's and Joey's words, two of the Dark Star thugs got out, and stood on either side of the street leading back to their turf.  The limo then pulled up in front of the club.  The Dark Star Leader and his four remaining bodyguards got out, and entered the club.  Madame Vulpine, Misty, Krystal, and Lola stepped out of the alleyway, walked up to the Blood Moon Gang Members, and greeted them.  You could hear the wolf whistles and catcalls of the Blood Moon gang members, especially the snipers up on their rooftop perches, all cheering as Lola began to sing one of her old show tunes, and dance, with Krystal, Madame Vulpine, and Misty dancing with her, and providing backup vocals.

After a while, three of the Dark Star Members, and their chauffeur, heading back to their limo, saw the four girls performing and stopped to cheer and watch.  Akasha sneaked up to the limo, unnoticed, and she planted the bomb in the undercarriage of the limo, then she sneaked back into the alleyway to join us.  Conrad Morgenthal, one of our teammates, handed me the bomb remote control detonator.  He pointed to the end of the road, where the other two Dark Star thugs stood guard.  "When the limo gets between them, hit the button.  Get over there, as close as you can, without being seen, and wait for that limo...the remote control has a limited range, so stay close, but not too close as to be hit by the bomb blast...try ducking behind that wall protrusion, near the end of the road." he told me, then he sneaked into the side entrance of the nightclub, past the lust stricken guard who was watching Misty, Lola, Krystal, and Madame Vulpine dancing.

"Julius, stop drooling over the four girls' dancing, and get moving." Fara said jokingly, as she gently shoved me from behind with one hand.  I snapped out of my mesmerized state, and ran towards my position at the end of the street.  Ten minutes later, Conrad reemerged from the club, and hid in the alleyway.  The four girls finished their street performance, and the gang members, from both gangs, cheered and clapped...Lola, Misty, Madame Vulpine, and Krystal curtsied and left the scene.

Conrad had been in the club, I found out later, that he had stolen a spare set of Blood Moon gang clothes from one of the guards' quarters, and put them on, and took a sniper rifle from that room as well.  He then went into the club's main area, after going up the back stairwell, to the mezzanine overlooking the main dance area of the club, he spotted the Dark Star Leader and his bodyguard sitting in the VIP room.  He aimed at them, and fired one shot, the shot went through the head of the Dark Star Leader, and through the neck of his bodyguard.  Two down, five to go...the Blood Moon thugs guarding the entrance to the VIP Room didn't see a thing.  Conrad left the sniper rifle there, and ran back to the guard quarters, changed back into his clothes, and left the club secretly.  It was all up to me now.

The Dark Star thugs and their chauffeur got into the limo, and drove towards the end of the street.  As they passed me, they drove between the two thugs at the end of the street, and it was then that I pressed the button on the remote trigger.

*BOOM!*

The limo exploded, killing the driver, the three Dark Star gang member passengers, and the two Dark Star gang members who were guarding the end of the street.  Six kills, simultaneously executed.  Sweet!  I ran up to the wreckage, and surveyed the scene.  I was able to steal the hyper laser sub machine guns off of the two dead guards who were standing on either side of the street. 

I ran back to the alley way where my teammates and I were, only to find it empty.  Fara whispered my name..."Julius!".  I turned around.  "Follow me!" she whispered, watching me from behind a dumpster.  I followed Fara back to where we all had parked.  I saw Krystal, now back in her regular flight suit, walking out of the Malestrom..."I don't see why I couldn't wear my Saurian clothes to dance for those guards." she said.  "Krystal, darling, it's a showgirl revue, all the costumes must be similar...haven't you ever performed on stage before?  Were you ever in a chorus line number?" asked Madame Vulpine from inside the Malestrom.

"No, she hasn't..." said Lola, who was also inside the Malestrom.  Fox saw me. "Ah, there you are!  Good!  How did it go, Julius?".  I told everyone, including those who were inside the Malestrom, what happened.  They all cheered and congratulated me.  I thanked them, and handed Conrad his remote bomb detonator back to him.  Conrad thanked me, and told us how he killed the other two Dark Star gang members. 

When he was done, we congratulated him.  Fox turned to me.  "I'm sorry we cut out on you so fast, Julius, but we didn't want to attract more attention than necessary.  Plus, some of the Blood Moon gang members tried to follow Lola, Misty, Krystal, and Madame Vulpine, so we had to escort them safely away from those creeps.  I sent Fara back for you, she was glad to do it.  Misty wanted to change out of her costume and go back for you, but we wouldn't let her." Fox said.

"It's cool.  Hey, anyone want this extra hyper laser sub machine gun?"  I asked, holding it up.  My teammates all said no.  "Keep 'em both, Julius, you could always use a spare!" said Falco.  "Thanks!" I said to him and the rest of my teammates. "No problem." They replied.  We flew back to the Galatae, and relaxed there, plotting our next move.  We were halfway done.

Chapter 15

We made our way to the planet, Krystal, Akasha, Kylie, Tigress, Fox, Falco, Fay, Miyu, and Slippy acted as air support in either the Veritech fighters or the Arwings.  The rest of us went in the Malestrom.  The two gangs, Blood Moon and Dark Star, were now ready for war.  The Chief of Police for Kew City was stepping in to preserve the peace.  He was on both gangs' payrolls, and an old friend of both the gangs and the families they originated from.

The KCPD chief was meeting with the new leader/emissary of the Dark Star Gang, and the emissary for the Blood Moon gang in a private meeting, at a local seafood restaurant on neutral turf.  The owners of the restaurant, a bartender and a chef, both friends of the gangs and the police, allowed them to hold the meeting at the restaurant. 

The KCPD chief had a battalion of police, heavily armed with hyper laser assault rifles, protecting him, the gang emissaries, and the meeting place. We were going to disrupt any more talks of truce, and not only push the gangs into war completely, but also turn the police against Mr. Shao Di Gong and the Blood Moon gang.

We made our way into position, after touching down in the Malestrom.  Todd whispered to us "We gotta kill the Blood Moon emissary before he reaches that restaurant, hide his body, and take the amulet that the Blood Moon gang members wear, and somehow plant it inside the restaurant, after we kill the Kew City Police Chief, and kill the Dark Star emissary/leader, as per Danny Foxglove's instructions.  The Blood Moon gang must take the blame for this attack, and with him not being found, and his amulet left at the scene of the hit, it would be impossible for the Blood Moon to not get the blame for this kill.  A new chief of police would take over, and he would be some hard nosed, incorruptible chief who would ruin things for all the gang members who have bribed the cops in the past.  With no police protection, and a rival gang after Mr. Gong, combined with the other gangs in Kew City being pissed at the Blood Moon, Mr. Gong will have nowhere to go.  We gotta succeed here!". 

We all nodded.  "Let's do this!" said Lola.  "I'll take out the Blood Moon emissary." I said.  "I'll get into a sniper position, on that fire escape on that building that's caddy corner from the front of that restaurant they're meeting inside of.  I'll bet they'll be sitting upstairs, in front of that big picture window in the front, just over that corner entrance of the building." said Conrad, taking his sniper briefcase.  "I'll give you a boost up onto the ladder there, and I'll cover you from the ground..." said Edge, going with Conrad.

"Make sure you guys cover whoever we send in there incognito, after you take out the other two targets." Todd quietly called after them.  Edge and Conrad nodded, and went towards the fire escape...I headed North, towards the Blood Moon emissary's location.  Pal came with me as backup.  We followed the Blood Moon emissary into the alleyway.  I took out my garrote fiber wire.  The Blood Moon emissary started to pee in the alleyway sewer grate. I waited for him to finish, as Pal looked away with a disgusted expression, and I sneaked up on the Blood Moon emissary, and strangled him with my fiber wire garrote.  I choked him, breaking his windpipe.

I then took his amulet, his silenced laser pistol, which I would later give to Misty, and I took his clothes off of his.  I moved his corpse, with the help of Pal, into a dumpster and shut the lid.  "Garbage collection's tomorrow morning, I heard." I said to Pal with a ghoulish chuckle.  Pal smiled at me, and we took the clothes, amulet, and silenced laser pistol back to our base of operation in the back alleyways. 

Todd, our field and ground leader, said "Good job!"  I handed the silenced laser pistol to Misty "For you, Misty." I said.  "Ohhh, thank you!" she said, taking the laser pistol and kissing me.  Pal told Todd what the emissary from the Blood Moon gang looked like, he was a Border Collie.  "Okay, in that case, you'll go in there, and plant the amulet, then come back. Edge and Conrad can cover you from the ground and sniper post.  Leave your clothes and weapons here, take only the amulet.  The cops guarding the place will probably take your weapons in a frisk and security checkpoint." said Todd. 

Pal nodded, changed into the Blood Moon Emissary's clothes, left his clothes and weapons with us, which Todd placed into a compartment of the Malestrom, and Pal walked towards the restaurant.  The upstairs picture window shattered, after a silenced shot from a sniper laser pistol pierced it, killing the two targets inside with just one shot.  The Police Chief and Dark star Emissary/Leader were both sitting upstairs, in front of that big picture window, over the entrance, as Conrad had predicted...

Pal walked up to the restaurant entrance, and, sure enough, the cops were suspicious of him, searched him, found nothing, but because he was unarmed, and in Blood Moon colors, they let him through, into the restaurant.  It was amazing nobody had noticed that window had shattered from when Conrad had shot the police chief and Dark Star emissary/leader.  Oh well.

Pal went upstairs, from what we could see from the street, planted the amulet on a table, then left the restaurant, and joined us back in the alleyway.  Conrad and Edge joined us, Conrad had packed his sniper rifle back into its briefcase, and had it at his side.  We all filed back into the Malestrom, and flew away.

"We did it, Fox!" said Todd. "Great.  All ships fall in, and return to the Galatae.  We gotta look sharp.  I spotted three unidentified aircraft at the edge of  my radar grid.  I have a feeling even after we finish this, we may have some unwanted company." Fox warned us.  "Pfft!  You're being paranoid, Fox!" said Falco.  "Maybe I am, but it's my call, and I say stay alert." Fox replied. 

We arrived back at the Galatae.  We were nearly done.
