Star Fox: Legends- A rebellious young fox named Marcus sets out on a journey to attend the Cornerian Flight Academy against his mother's wishes to follow in the footsteps of the father he has never met- Fox McCloud. After a chance run-in with an escaped convict, Marcus is thrust into the midst of an intergalactic crisis that could ultimately bring legacies together and peace to the galaxy.

*Note* It is recommended that you read my other fanfic, Star Fox: Darkness Rising (http://forums.starfox-online.net/index.php?topic=4773.0) before reading this , as this is a sequel of sorts. However, I will do my best to make it accessible as a stand-alone story too for those who have not/don't plan on reading Darkness Rising. I hope you all enjoy,  the prologue follows.

Prologue

The intergalactic prison, Alazzard, floated in its remote corner of space. The prison cells held some of the galaxy’s most hardened criminals, and were guarded by highly trained officers. Yet even the toughest criminals and most experienced prison guards could not be prepared for the attack they were about to face. Several odd looking ships emerged from the dark space, breaking formation and branching off to opposite sides of the prison.

“CODE 3-5-0! CODE 3-5-0!” came the urgent call over the intercoms as the ships opened fire. Guards ran to the gun turret towers, but had no idea that the rogue aircrafts were not the true threat to them. As the guards returned fire, their vision was obscured by swirling dark clouds.

That’s strange, thought one of the guards. That can’t possibly be from the ships. Some sort of strange nebulae must have rolled in… His thoughts were cut off as a horrifying creature emerged from the blackness, heading straight towards them and snapping its jaws mercilessly as it broke through the thick walls of the compound.

Alazzard was soon completely shrouded by a dense black fog. Inside, the sounds of destruction cut through the darkness. There has never been a definitive report of exactly what happened other than that much of the prison was obliterated and most lives were taken- the innocent and most of the guilty. Some lives were spared, those that could be useful on the side of evil.

In the midst of all the chaos, nobody noticed as one of the prison inmates slipped out through the carnage, the stolen ship hurtling straight to the closest planet they could think of…

Thanks, JQ! I haven't been able to work on this like I'd hoped- I have one page of chapter one done :/, but I really want to put a good effort into writing this story unlike Darkness Rising, which was written on the fly for the most part. I hope to make this one pretty epic. (And I have an idea for yet another SF fanfic, that comes before Darkness Rising. Kursed, you'd be interested in that one as Krystal would be the main focus :). Anyway, I'm excited to get that one going too, I'm ambitious! Ha.)
