Showtime 1-1
The Torch came through town here last night, there was a big ceremony and some speeches by some politicians, but the cool part was standing at the side of out street and seeing the torch go past.Anyways, I wanted to know who else would be watching the Olympics. It's a big deal for me because it's in my province, I guess. I always liked the winter Olympics better anyways, especially the bobsleigh, giant slalom, ski aerials and boarder-cross. I don't have any aspirations to go and become pro athlete, but they sure are fun to watch.GO CANADA!

Asper Sarnoff
Meh, it's going to be pretty boring. We Norwegians are going to win mostly everything anyway. :P
SPEAKERnight.
Meh, it's going to be pretty boring. We Norwegians are going to win mostly everything anyway. I don't think so, Norway. Everyone knows America is gonna win most of the medals, so yea. :
Showtime 1-1
heheheh... I heard today that they've had to ship in thousands of tons of snow for some of the events... Typical, this is the warmest, driest winter we've had in history, and it's the year that the winter Olympics arrive. And I think the U.S has an edge in some of the events (Especially the alpine skiing and the flippy-spinny-freestyle events), but Canada will prevail in all Ice-based events! Hockey FTW!

What do they know of winter? http://forums.starfox-online.net/index.php?topic=4183.msg133937#msg133937The fact of the matter is, that if you calculate how good our ski athletes are with how many, or rather few, people who live in Norway, we far surpasses the US, and all the other nations as far as I know. Asper Sarnoff
America has more skiing talents than Norway has people in their county.Maybe, but does it help when the average norwegian is a better skier than their best athletes?Just about every norwegian does skiing regularly, the only exception being those lazy bums who are never out of the main citites, but they are few. From what I've heard, only some of the northern states have REAL winter, which means temperatures below -20 Celcius, and four feet of snow.http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/spo_win_oly_med_all_tim-winter-olympic-medals-all-timeSurprisingly, if you count medals per head, Norway is bumped down from first place by Liechtenstein. The US falls down to 17th.

Sabre
Lee Evens does a funny skit about the winter olympics, claiming its not fair because the best the brits get is slush instead of snow. So he sugests new sports like the moaning bus que. I cant find a clip of it though so here he is taling about the 2012 olympicsHas a bit swearing btwhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XcfknpWrqQ
Showtime 1-1
I say we need Top Gear's "Off-road-speed-dance-men's/women's-no-hill, two-wheel-drive-challange-slalom" in the Olympics.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFe8DYpvKAU
Asper Sarnoff
How can you live in that cold? :'(Because we're used to it? We Norwegians have no problem handling cold weather, the exception being the southeners, which we who live more northern make fun of, call wimps and say that due to them living closer to the rest of the world, have become more "european" and softer. As to not sound nazi here, I'll say we, at least me, handle heat extremely poorly. Temperature creep above +20 Celcius and I almost die of heat.I say we need Top Gear's "Off-road-speed-dance-men's/women's-no-hill, two-wheel-drive-challange-slalom" in the Olympics.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFe8DYpvKAUSometimes, we sneak out with cars on lakes we know has thick enough ice, and races each other. It's higly illegal tough, like everything fun is here.I'd like to try their version of ski-shooting as well, where they raced trough the ski course and shot at targets. Would have been even better that at one of the stops, they had to fight and defeat a professional wrestler or boxer before they could continue, then that would be my ideal dream sport of all time. Of all time!
Showtime 1-1
Just watched the opening ceremony... Pretty cool, but it's too bad the cauldron broke... and the lack of snow, the tragedy this morning and the protesters all around kinda put a damper on it all...
