Mr. Krystal
Why, because it leads to a debate, which can be fun. and it's a learning experience for both sides. The way I see it's like a team game the mac side competing to see there votes get higher, an the Windows (Which is the bestest) trying to get the votes to there side, I do recall clicking the allow people to change vote check box."As said by someone earlier it's all a difference of opinion," but who's opinion will crush the others, that's the question. My troll senses are tingling!"You can run Windows on a Mac" Then isn't it Windows? Hm"You can run OS X on a PC" Then aint it a Mac?"You can run Linux on anything" Then it is Linux. No, and no. PCs and Macs are hardware. Windows, OS X, and Linux are software. Guest FoXXX
I don't care for non-windows OSs because I was raised on Windows, I also like that start bar look, which is why I DON'T want windows 7. I've never really gotten to see Linux, and hate partitioning. So I'm stuck with Windows, I use OS X whenever I got to some classes down in Iowa City that teaches making movies and other stuff, and even then, I was confused on how to close stuff.I've used Windows since 1998, when I first used a computer, I use Linux for internet usage, and keeping my computer and files secure. Anything that doesn't work on here I use Windows :)

ThePointingMan
My troll senses are tingling! You saying ya think I'm trolling? Fair enough, it was just the only counter rebuttal I could think of, also when I say mac I mean Os x when i say PC i mean windows, (something that means not nice) Mac vs PC commercials tricking me.where i wrote something that means not nice, I was gonna say blimey, but then i looked it up, blimeyBrit slang an exclamation of surprise or annoyance[short for gorblimey God blind me]I'd rather not go blind... Steve
...yes... What did you think they were made of? Rainbows and confetti?...I have been living in a lie all my life then... T_TAnyways...yeah, hardware is not OS related, an OS, again, is a software that administrates hardware, that's all. It doesn't come from any part in particular. With the right specs, a machine can run any kind of OS, ever heard of an OS emulator program?, you can basically run another OS on your current OS at a conventional software level, instead of just installing it as a full standalone operating system. What makes every OS so different from each other is obviously just codes. Linux is not "WOW FAST" cause it has super hardware on it, it's fast cause linux's code is way simpler than Microsoft's or Mac's OS. Let's remember that Linux is an open source software. Open source means that anyone in this world can have access to the codes and modify them. Now you may wonder why window is the "slowpoke" among the other 2 ( can't really say anything about Mac's OS since I haven't personally spent that much time on them), it's because Microsoft works in a really dumb, yet intelligent way. Window's development team consists on a bunch of smaller teams that program several parts of the OS, however, non of them know on a full scale what the other team is really doing, so a lot of coding is repeated. This is way too secure, since microsoft is making sure no person in this world (theoretically speaking) would have full access to window's full coding. If I had to bet, Windows has about 20-40% of line codes that are way too similar or just the same, and could be resumed into something simpler, saving system resources. Another reason for why Windows is slow is because it loads a bunch of resources to be "on the go", Linux, on the other hand, has mostly everything turned off unless the user starts the requested service. For example, I want to use my printer on windows...the only thing I need to do is plug it in and the printer will start anytime I tell it to start. On Linux, you need to get the printer service up, probably start the drivers (I'm kinda sure Ubuntu is more user friendly..) and then indicate what you want to print. To tell the truth, it's the same freaking deal, Windows could take 40 more seconds to boot than Linux, but by the time I get Linux to do what I normally do on windows...at the end of the day, the tables will even out, and again, it's just a matter of tastes. Now, cause I'm really bored...Viruses...why people claim that Macs or Linux can't be infected, it's easy, if you are a thief, would you go steal a bank that holds 100 million dollars, or would you go steal a small shop that has 1000 dollars?, assuming both of them have the same security, as well as time spent stealing the money. Like it or not, Microsoft has hold the vast majority of the OS market over the last 2 decades, while Mac and linux have always been the minority, making Windows a bigger target than the other two. It's not because Macs use a super wtf anti virus shield, it's just because no one bothers to make a big important virus for it, as simple as that. Linux itself is pretty much free...so the only reason to screw it over would be for sheer evil joy. For every 1000 viruses created, Mac and linux probably get around 5%, and most of that stuff is just not that dangerous. Let's remember that a virus is simply a couple of code lines smacked together to change the behavior of something around the OS, viruses are not the work of super evil geeky master minds (most of the time...) and something as simple as a word pad is enough to create one. Heck, you could totally screw up an entire HD with a word pad made virus OS wars are basically the same as console wars, people getting all over cause one platform has "halo" or "uncharted" or "mario", while each one is different from the other, all three offer the same dang thing, just on different levels, entertainment...well, it's the same with OS, each one of them offer the same dang thing, software to administrate hardware, just on different presentations. X-Gamer
Wow, I'm not surprised to see this topic in this forum. This debate has been discussed on many times at my school. Here's a link for some information on both sides of these companies:http://ca.tech.yahoo.com/blogs/ereviews/rss/article/3433I think that site speaks the truth that both the macs and PC's have their ups and downs. I voted on what I think with experience on both computers:PC= Piece of CrapMAC= Mother of All Computers

Sabre
Personally, I'm not sure whether I'll buy an iPad, although I think – I think – I'm about to buy a MacBook. Yes, I was a dyed-in-the-wool Mac sceptic for years. Yes, I've written screeds bemoaning the infuriating breed of smug Apple monks who treat all PC owners with condescending pity. But being chained to a Sony Vaio for the last few weeks has convinced me that I'd rather use a laptop that just works, rather than one that's so ponderous, stuttering and irritating I find myself perpetually on the verge of running outside and hurling it into traffic. (That's a moan about Sony laptops, not PCs in general, by the way. I'm keeping my desktop PC, thanks: that's lovely. Smooth as butter. Better than I deserve, in fact.)I just hope buying a MacBook won't turn me into an iPrick. I want a machine that essentially makes itself invisible, not a rectangular bragging stone. If, 10 minutes after buying it, I start burbling on about how it's left me more fulfilled as a human being, or find myself perched at a tiny Starbucks table stroking its glowing Apple with one hand while demonstratively tapping away with the other in the hope that passersby will assume I'm working on a screenplay, it's going straight in the bin.The iBin. Fox-Shot
Thought this pic belongs in this thread...Though it may be cheap, you can mod a PC to be very customizable. Also, like it's been said before, all OSs can run eachother, so all those cars fit in the same parking lot.

A buddy of mine almost took a sledgehammer to his VIAO, some laptops can be a pain in the @$$ (like my stupid Compaq Presario). As for the Mac product users, 2/3 of them I know can be real stuck up snobs from time to time. Fox-Shot
The Apple stuff you get from Wal-Mart sucks, though. I bought my iPod shuffle from my local store instead, it has 2GB (1 GB extra to the norm, but almost the same price, I think 10 dollars more, but don't remember) I've slammed it across the room on accident before and other drops and throws on accidents a lot, it's practically immortal.
