Alright people heres my plan. Since my recent aquisition of Garrys mod, i decicded to mark the event by makeing a MAchinema.

A lylat Machinema. Now, this wont be easy and ill bneed a bit of help. If you have a specific Player model you want used as your charecter, please find it at Garrysmod,org and send me the link. ill download it and your charecter will have that model. Otherwise im throwing it to the hounds of chaos. I Have most of my maps already. It wont be one hotel map but several smaller ones and others.

if you have anyideas please say so.

Okay, so this has been an issue in the past, and I just want to say something.

Just because Ryn and Cel have/had jobs at the hotel's front desk, just because one of the two aren't there, doesn't mean no one is. There will always be someone there to check in and important stuff. Don't just assume no one is there, cause that is just unlikely and unreasonable.

Just an FYI for everyone who likes to wait 5 hours on one of those two getting to the desk. lol.

I agree.  Not all of the employees are played, like those working in the dining hall.  Ryn and Cel are just characters with more meaning lol

Dude... Milky.... Does it really matter if you can't see the story, or if you can't see what's going on? Someone is getting a little over dramatic on something they are not even apart of.

There's no real story everyone's doing their own thing.

There might not be a plot necessarily, but the combination of events and such between the different characters can easily be a story.

Over dramatic? It's a legitimate question. This RP grows like an out of control weed infestation on steroid-laced crack. Hell, it doesn't NEED the sticky. It'd be pinned at the top of the board anyways through sheer activity.

And if it's as separated and broken as you suggest, a bad one. So  what you're saying is it's about everyone doing their own thing, since the traffic of the whole is too busy for each individual to keep up with. The end result is a series of mini stories of characters doing... I'm not too sure actually. It still wasn't properly explained.

It doesnt need to be. Do all Rps need to have a plot? im sure they dont. You dont need a plot to have fun. thats our goal. to entertain and have fun. Not some outward goal to finish it. why would we want that? and why is it a bad thing that we have no plot?

By "plot" I don't mean a novel per-se, but some sort of connection and continuity. As far as my (limited) knowledge goes, the Lylat Luxury Hotel is basically a rec room spam game in RP form, where no one really does anything as a collective hole but rather just dink around amidst the chaos of dozens of others doing the same. You know, the sort of thing that makes an RP stop being an RP and more toward monologuing no one pays attention to.

Not just room, but EVERYTHING. The LLH is HUGE and meaningless. It's the poster thread for this entire board, and for what? So people can waste time doing nothing? At the rate it's grown, over 15,000 posts in under a year, I'd say it's safe to bet that none of the players can keep track of exactly what's going on, leading to a disorganized mess, nor can the mods that are supposed to be tightly regulating this place can keep up. At this speed, it's just nearly impossible to take in what's going on and with who. This is in direct contradiction to how other RPs have to be approved and carefully moderated by staff rather than the GM him/herself, and only 3-ish active at a time. This isn't even touching into the neglect this spammy mess might be indirectly causing to other RP's, as everyone is spending all their time in here doing whatever rather than the more carefully planned, quality ones.

Au contraire, as this is the discussion topic, this is the perfect place to speak our minds. The RP lacks structure. Casual fun is fine and good, but LLH is more than that. It's a spam topic where noone does anything because everyone is doing whatever they want. Its not a RP, its an IC chat room.

To an extent I agree with your arguments, I don't really use LLH but me and a few others were using it as a place for our characters to meet for a different RP in the future, otherwise I don't care about it.

Basically what Rob said, and as far as not being involved with it, how can you say that? The only thing keeping me from being so is glancing over the last page of it and starting to go look for a snack. It's impact on the rest of the board, be it distracting from the other RPs or taking up available slots for new active ones, is inescapable. As someone looking to get into this are-peein' stuff soon, it concerns me.

I do admit, the LLH has grown at an alarming rate, and that can be considered both good and bad in it's own respective ways .  About the plot thing, there really isn't much plot to go around, considering it's a casual hotel experience .  Good points all around though guys :)

Right. So how does lulzing about a hotel equal a story with scenarios tying the characters together, and more to the point why does IT deserve to go on indefinitely while the deeper, more imaginative RPs get limited and put on a timer?

why do soap operas survive? an issue here...an issue there.....changes to each scenario ever five minutes....which is something I find funny about this rp.
