How about I just install homebrew and watch my own movies eh?

If you're gonna go to that much trouble, why not watch your movies on your computer?

Wii is a computer :P

All 729MHz 88MB ram and 3 MB Vid Ram, which surprisingly , is actaully pretty good for a console.

Larger screen, already have a perfectly good DVD player anyway.

The hardware is different from hardware in PCs right?

I've seen this one churning in the rumor mill for a whole now. Nice to see it official.

Netflix actually has a damn-good collection. Even though a lot of today's movies are crap, you can get a lot of older ones. I recently watched the ENTIRE James Bond series from Dr. No to Casino Royale. (Sean Connery is STILL the best Bond, BTW) Doing that without Netflix would have cost serious money. I want to say the box set with all of them costs in the neighborhood of $250 (I've got better things to spend $250 on), and good luck finding ALL of them at Blockbuster.

Note that some greedy studios don't allow their movies on the service.

As someone who's been using an ad-hoc HDMI connection to my TV from my PC to watch Netflix movies, this is a welcome change. I've preordred a disc (it's free if you have an unlimited Netflix account).

I imagine it works like any other Netflix streaming device, IE, put stuff in your instant queue to watch it.

Actually, the graphics is powered by ATI and the processor is for PowerPCs.  So it's kinda PC hardware...

All PowerPC means is the architecture. An AMD Opteron is an x86 processor, just as a Phenom CPU is, but an Opteron is a different CPU, and is considered server hardware. This isn't a great comparison, as you can run a desktop OS on a machine with one, but you get the idea that an Opteron and Phenom are not the same thing (that would be Core and Xeon respectively for you Intel people).

Just because two CPUs share the same architecture doesn't make them suitable for eachother's purposes.  An Opteron would be overkill for much of what is done on a PC, while a Phenom would struggle under the heavy load of a large database processing server.

The Broadway CPU was designed specifically for the Wii. Putting one into a general-purpose PC will likely not yield the same performance as a similarly-designed general purpose PowerPC chip.

The AMD Hollywood GPU is also designed specifically for the Wii. It is designed to work with the Broadway CPU, and would not replace a Radeon chip that AMD makes for PCs.

It isn't "kind of PC" hardware, it's purpose-designed embedded system hardware.

That's what I was thinking because 793mhz CPU? lol...

I understand that, I just meant as in that it was made by people who also make famous PC hardware.
