Tiny Toy Gun Incident

Ok, sorry to make this sound political and all, plus I don't want this topic to become one of those kind of flamebait topics.  So, just try and keep the off topic comments to yourself, please.

Ok, anyways, as I was getting onto Yahoo! today, I always look at the advertisements they have put up on the main page.  But THIS one just stuck out like a sore thumb!  Basically, a fourth grader was at lunch and playing with his Lego toys with his friend, but as he was playing with them, the principal told him to get his things and go to the office with him.  The inocent child was about to get arrested, or something, for bringing a SMALL 2 INCH toy gun, while his friend's lego action figure was toting a toy axe; which the principal deemed 'less threatening.'  So, the little guy decides to stay home yesterday because he thought his principal was mad at him.

I know that people these days are going crazy about weapons and such being at school, but this one is just plain out dumb!  If you accuse someone of playing with a harmless two inch toy gun, then you obviously have NO common sense!

Sorry to sound like I'm blowing steam off like a boiling volcano, but that was just down right uncalled for.

I saw that today too! I was thinking about mentioning it here myself.

I found that to be real stupid. Blowing up on a little kid for having a TINY LEGO GUN?! I understand coming down on weapon threats, but that is just ridiculous!

And I'd like to note that back when I was in fourth grade,  the thing was Pokemon, a game about humans forcing animals to fight eachother until they get knocked out. *cough*Micheal Vick *cough*  I really think this was blown out of proportions, as if you could say it's a real gun and people would believe it.  I've actually seen some pretty epic stuff with legos whilst using lego guns (and idea for a Smash Bros. arena)  And to be honest, how many other kids there would have their PSPs and DSs out playing Grand Theft Auto?

Kids mostly carry around their Ds and psp's around in thierbackpacks only to pull them out  during afterschool stuff or break.

you know the funny thing about the pokemon ban was that altough we couldn't have the games or cards we could have the other merchandise in school? how does this make any sense?

And the funny thing  was my princalpal said Pokeman then i remember everystudent shouting out "POKEMON!"

I'll say...our [collective] society has become so evil and so disgusting.

Yea I saw this too, if I was the princpal I would just say "put your toys away " and that would be the end of it told my mom about it she said the boy got wat he deserved, just goes to show how strict she is :hehe:

(ps my moms a elementary school teacher)

no offense, phenom64, but after hearing what your mom just said about that poor kid, your mom sounds like a real @#%&

no kid should face that kind of punishment for a minor thing like that.  when I ws in elementary school, we had G.I Joe s with toy guns, and we didn't get in that kind of trouble.  American schools are the WORST.

She sounds like a real @#$%...no offense to you either, FoXXX

Our schools are so ridiculous, now, kids can't even play "tag" at recess, because it "encourages predatory and competitive behavior", and kids get expelled for even drawing a picture of a gun.

That's ridiculous.  To be honest, predatory and competitive behavior is human instinct, they can't just stop it, kind of like when they took away our school's footballs since the grade before us threw a fit (they seriously need to learn something), so we invented "Keep Away" which is football using a different ball, they can't take those, or they would be discouraging active behavior, I'm glad I don't have recess anymore :P.

As I was saying, human instincts are to be competative and predative like, ever notice that the mama cat never tries to make its cats stop fighting, it's because that's how they learn to grow a pair and live in their world.

Agreed.  Post Modern society as a whole has lost their minds...

^Second this. I've played king of the hill, tag and friendly fighting trough the whole elementary school. There have been quite a few cracked bones, bloods and tears.

As a result of that, I'm incredibly competive, I love challenges, laughts in the face of hardship, what doesn't kill me makes me stronger, etc. etc.

Does that make me mentally unstable? Am I a ticking bomb that could potentially explode at any moment, with several innocent casualities as a result? Of course not!

Haha, yeah, it's getting ridiculous :|

yeah recess is slowly going away and the playgrounds are slowly rotting away when i had recess when i was younger we had a Huged plaground and I mean huge you had to climb up it to get to it there was even a ladder in the center somtimes thered be bee or hornets nest in there ,but we'd ignore that section then  and in winter there was this fun bumpy slide that get soo slick you'd fly in the air at the bumps now unless yuour incredily stupid and somwho be aerodynamicly unstable you would not fall off as far as I knew nobody got hurt from that playgorund yet 2 years later BAMO they tear it down and  make a tiny kids playground fit for kindergardners. wow fun...

and before anyone says it ,althoguh i bet most of you have thought  it already. "If Kursed is a girl wow she's a tomboy ." YES I AM A TOMBOY i hung out with guys when I was younger, because the girls did girly things and I hated dresses.

Reminds me of when I was in elementary school, I brought a bullet key chain to school once, think it was a .30-06, but I could be wrong, and it was obviously inactive, had no primer, and there was a chain welded to the damned thing, and I showed my friend and one of the yard monitors saw it, and took it, never got it back again, but a few years earlier, in first grade, I brought in an inert 25mm round from the Bradley M3 Infantry Fighting Vehicle for show and tell. Not only was this thing NOT obviously inert, but it is also 8 1/2 inches long and is a capable bludgeoning tool, and they were fine with that, but a little key chain made out of a cartridge, they freak out.

Also, a kid broke his arm on the playground climbing rings, you know, the things like flexible monkey bars, they get rid of em, they say for years they're gonna get rid of the asphalt playground and put in grass, nothing, even after I got tackled on the asphalt and got road burns in 3 streaks across my face and am lucky beyond reason they didn't leave permanent scars, there still is asphalt 11 years later.

Common sense doesn't apply anymore nowadays lol

Well, I just thought of this AS I was reading this topic at school on my own laptop.  I realized that people seem to be bad at filtering stuff, I'd like to point out my wallpaper and the fact that anyone is able to see it.

Note the weapon and that fact the teachers in my school have seen it.
